cricketbones
I have followed the section of the FAQ to do with backing up saves and upon trying to restore my progress in a newly formatted machine at least 3-4 times, all I have come up with is failure. I simply cannot get the game to recognize my saves. I'm furious to have seemingly lost an almost 100% completed game. I also tried using the forum search and it timed out over and over again. I'm bringing my backups from Vista x64 into Win 7 x64. EDIT: ...sigh, I just realized I put this in the wrong spot. Girish
Assuming the address path for the savegames folder is the same in Win 7, are you putting the saves in the appropriate folder? If yes, then I think it's because of the wrong user specific folder. Do this; • Start a new game and save it. • Now, go to your saved games folder. To determine the accurate location, Start > Games > Right-click on Grand Theft Auto IV > Saved Games • Inside the savegames folder, you'll find folders named 'user_.....' and 'user_invaild'. • Ignore the 'user_invalid' folder and copy all your savegames to the other 'user_....' folder. • Now, check again if the saves appear on the load screen. AmbiquitY
I had the same problem when I tried to do that when going from vista to Win 7. I only tried twice but I didn't get it to work, then when i went from w7 beta to the RC, it went as smooth as a baby's bottom. first try, I put them in, started up GTA, and GFWL asked me which account I wanted to log in to. (Apparantly I had 2 AmbiquitY accounts, which I found very strange cause I don't recall ever making them ) Ah well, I hope you get it to work!
