Physicalfire
Get new mobo for around £80 and processor Q6600 for £140... Ding ding ding Q6600 can get to 3.8.
Jc84144
How about your research processors youselfs? There is this awesome site called Google, dunno if you ever herd of it. Anyway, there is a whole world out there of information. Asking here will only get biased results anyway, as everyone will try to put forward their fan boy views. p.s. You know there is a "Tech & PC Chat" area on this forum? Such incompetence.
anus
Which country do you live in? Anyway, we need to know your motherboard's brand and model to see if it supports Phenom II. Anything less than Phenom II by AMD is sh*t and isn't worth the money. If the board doesn't support Phenom II, you're going to have to get a board that does. Definitely go for AM3 and DDR3, don't go for DDR2. Oh and Phenom IIs fill the gap between the Core 2s and the Core i7s REALLY nicely. They're faster than Core 2s and a bit slower than the i7s. So you should definitely aim for a Phenom II system if you can't afford i7.

Do your research and you will find Phenom is way behind Intels Duo and Quad. Why waste money on AMD that is very crappy for overclocking. The whole point of overclocking is spend less get more, who would want to pay more get less? And the PhenomII overclocks better then any C2Q or i7 you see, i never saw a i7 or C2Q that was oced to 7GHz, wich the Phenom II did.

How come every single review has said Intel is better at overclocking and performance? You will get one or two reviews stating different and if proof is in the pudding we'll all agree. I see no hard evidence that Phenom is anywhere near Core 2 or even i7... You may get a Phenom when spending £800 that may come close to i7 but when you get an i7 CPU for less than half the price, thats not very productive thinking... Still Phenom hangs behind Core 2's in benchmarks and realtime performance. You already know that.

anus
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT PHENOM II, NOT PHENOM. GET YOUR F*CKING FACTS STRAIGHT. A Phenom II even without overclocking is great for gaming, and they're really good overclockers too, so the option for overclocking is there if needed. We all know this flaming on the Internet is for very special people and like minded people like you. Phenom II is the same as Phenom apart from the architecture. Yes you may be able to overclock BUT how much more would you get out of the Phenom II clock wise?? You can CLEARLY see that AMD are lacking and have been lacking since the same time Nvidia started to fall behind ATI.

I believ ethat if one cpu gets overclocked higher then another it is better overclocked. They reached 7GHz with the PhenomII, did they ever reach that? no, so by that the PhenomII is better at overclocking. If you dunno what you talking abouitt then STFU. There is alot of difference between a phenom an dphenomII, yep the phenom got his ass kicked by the Core2's, but the Phenom II kicks the Core2's ass really hard
anus
A Phenom II was overclocked to 7GHz. They're great overclockers. They are faster than Core 2s and are only a bit slower than i7s. shadowpope17
Buying an Intel motherboard and a Intel Quad would be the dumbest thing to do and a complete waste of money. For that money (or maybe a bit more), you could get your hands on the Phenom II 955, which would rape the Q6600 up the ass big time

anus
Don't get it mixed up though, Phenom II is faster than Core 2 but definitely not faster than i7. i7 still rapes AMD. So if you can afford i7 go for it, it's far better than Phenom IIs, but if you can't afford it, then go for a Phenom II. And don't waste your money on a sh*tbox360, it's an utter piece of sh*t. Spend the money on your PC or save it up for something else like future upgrades.

Physicalfire
Well go for what other people have said it doesn't bother me. Please notice how I have given facts and website links and information. I have AMD and Intel so I'm not a fan boy and sure like AMD. I remember my best computer was from AMD I could run 4 of the same game at 100+FPS all at the same time. Back then AMD were the top dogs. Intel have progressed and go onto ANY overclocking or computer forum and find the information yourself (who ever made this topic). Please do not ask for information like this on a forum where information is based on opinions unlike mine. And when the f*ck is someone like this guy who knows not much about computers ever going to get to 7Ghz? Not likely and it was not on AIR nor WATER. So please keep your <3 for AMD into FACTS and LINKS.
