elvisa
Hi...I have a problem getting my monitor started.......when it is on, I havn`t had any problems though.....YET. Problem accours when connecting the power.......before even turning on the pc......The on/off botton just flashes every 5 sec.....just like it`s in some kind of standby mode, but when pushing any butten on the monitor nothing happens. Now.....I can`t figure it out, but have tried to turn on and off the power several times and sometimes it works after a few tries and sometimes ìt works when I pull out the cables and put them on again. I`m afraid someday nothing can be done, but what do you all think........is it somekind of setting that has been changed.....or is it bad monitor or cables that is causing this and what should I do about it? My pc and monitor is 3 years old Thanks for any suggestions Elvisa Edited May 22, 2009 by elvisa
Slamman
Initially I'd point out that the flashing probably indicates a searching for input signals on the various channels, all things are electronically operated in the monitor circuits these days, so you want to discharge things by waiting a bit. My theory here is that the electric circuit worked better 'flushed', of any data it is running. With my NEC/Mitsubishi monitor this is true because of the long time use on the front panal buttons, they don't always make a good contact to the board beneath. I always turn the monitor off, connect the VGA, etc, then turn it on. Mine has a RESET switch of sorts that just cycles the checking of inputs... In most cases, this is true of monitors with more then one type of input, or more then one DVI or VGA connect
