and stealling sales from various manufactures in Japan and the US but do you think a new silvia is on the way??

I suppose something will have to compete with this Toyobaru collaboration.

Are they actually real or just concepts? I like the top car the best.

I think the bottom is more likely to be real: characteristic Toyota blandness, and it looks like a Japanese magazine scan...not some Photoshopping troll. biggrin.gif

It was shelved a while ago, but I think they're working on it again. I would much rather the orange Subaru concept too. I hate how the rear is so lifted on the Toyota, all the legendary Japanese RWD sports cars don't have their buttocks in the air.

I hope not. Nissan did a good bit of work with the S13 through to S15 and characterised the series with the SR20DET engine. I can't help but feel that they'd ruin that with some rubbish watered down non-turbo eco-friendly motor powered by hamsters.

If there ever will be another Silvia from Nissan, their best bet would be to use the '00 model . . . re-do the interior and slightly add to the body.

Otherwise, the Silvia will dieeee.....

Unfortunately, I don't think any company will bring back an old model...people would just buy the original.

While that may be true for the nations in which the Silvia was sold, in the United States the vast majority of people would have no idea what a Silvia is/was if they released it under that name.

The Silvia S15 is still one of my dream cars. Overall just a great looking car.

Yeah I agree. Some how I would see a new Silvia as an econobox designed for grandmas who want something "sporty".

In saying that I want Toyota to bring back the Supra. Give the new GTR a run for its money.

A twin turbo V8 AWD Supra. Mmmmm.

Problem is, with the current economic climate and the fact that most people who have the money for a fast car choose to ignore the Japanese makes, GT-R included, and buy German or Italian, would anyone actually buy an AWD, Twin-Turbo, V8 powered Toyota?

True. While most people buying cars now are people who actually HAVE money, and lots of it, they stick with better brands. Mainly luxury. And if they want performance they go all out, at least a Z06 or ZR1.

I think the new Silvia, whatever it'll be called, is a great idea, assuming they do it right. I really wish they'll stick with a low, somewhat long, decently wide car but I know it's going to come out look like a mix between the Altima coupe and 370Z, which sucks. Too bulky and round. Keep it like an S13 and I'd f*cking want one so bad.

The plan as far as I know, and would make sense, is to have a base NA version of around 2-2.5L I4, then turbo that one and push near 300hp. Maybe even just 250. They can't do more or else it will cut into the 370Z's market. That's a no-no.

With Hyundai's Genesis Coupe it'll be a nice competition. Then when Toyota and Subaru finally finish they're flat 4 RWD 2 door, we'll have a nice new market of smaller, sporty 2 door cars to choose from. Should be nice to see that class of cars reemerge. From what I heard though, the Toyobaru isn't supposed to have ANY turbo version at all. Ouch. Bad move.

At least the Genesis Coupe has the 2.0T which will most likely easily make more power with boltons. Word is near 300hp with a couple hundred bucks. I guess the exhaust manifold has a sharp 90* bend right away, which severely cuts flow. Pop on a smoother exhaust manifold and there goes a good 15-25hp I'd say. New exhaust, better intake, a few smaller things. that 210hp will climb up quick.

If Nissan puts the QR25DE 2.5L I4 from the Sentra V-spec in their new car, that's 200hp stop, NA. Turbo it, should do just fine.

As for the Toyobaru...If it uses the EJ25 it'll push just under 200, like 190. But turbo'd I think it only makes like 230hp, so they'll beat the Genesis coupe's base HP, but I think Nissan's might be a problem. Chances are the Silvia replacement won't use the Spec V engine, so it'll only have about 175hp stock, and turboed about the same. So... it could all be a pretty even match.

It'll be nice to see how this all plays out, at least. Then we can stop seeing comparisons on the Genesis coupe and the V6 Camaro lol.gif
