lilrichmond89
Hey all, my computers running an amd 9500 quad core at 2.2 Ghz, 4 Gb of 1066Mhz ram, 700 watt power supple, and 2-512 MB Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ video cards running SLI, one card set up to run PhysX, one card set up as a GPU......even with all this I'm still struggling to get 15 fps on medium settings....is there anything I can do to improve this? I would think this hardware should be enough to run the game on relatively high settings? any help is greatly appreciated thanks.....oh and also I installed the latest patches and latests drivers
ikt
1: GTA IV hates SLI 2: GTA IV hates normal computers 3: Don't expect too much of GTA IV performance Oh, did you use the patch?
Highwayman72
not to mention Phys-x is not used at all so thats one card sitting idle for starters, also try disable Antivirus app when playing, maybe use the AMD's overdrive tool as this can help shutdown services etc that can inhibit performance. lilrichmond89
yes i have the newest patch installed which i read somewhere was supposed to help make the game benefit more from SLI, i also tried running without physX but that reallllyyyyy slows the game down, with it is the only way the game is playable, i'm going to try messing around with the memrestrict i guess. ikt
I seriously don't know how you manage to f*ck up your system so that you can't even play GTA IV at medium with normal settings. My computers is twice (or more) as slow and i can manage to play GTA IV on medium at 17FPS. There.
lilrichmond89
thanks buddy.....real helpful, and by the way, i just built this computer so it's not "f*cked up" as you put it...just working out a few kinks and thought maybe i'm overlooking something that someone on here could point out
Physicalfire
The problem is your processor. Get into overclocking with some nice new heatsink for that CPU. Your processor is running slow, get it to over 3Ghz then it will be MUCH better.
lilrichmond89
ok i've figured a few things out....disabling SLI and disabling PhysX both will drastically improve the fps, now i'm over 30 fps with medium setting and everything else high and very high, good enough for me until they fix the problem with sli and physX, because the only thing holding me back is 100%memory usage....thanks for the help tho
