Hart
First off, I don't think this should be made. The end was pretty conclusive and it's one of my favourite films. No way should a sequel be forged, but alas, there is. The sister is the main character going to Vegas or LA and starts seeing visions, probably Frank, judging by the poster which has Frank on it, but how does Frank tie in with her? From what I remember Donnie never told her about him and she wasn't there when he shot the guy to create Frank. Unless the parents or the psychiatrist told her. The original director isn't even involved in this, some brand new guy called Chris Fisher who hasn't directed anything worthwhile - let alone should follow up this cult film. What do you guys think? Sounds like a cash grab to me. Also, they f*cked up with this new bunny look. Looks demented yeah, but no where near as good as Frank used to look like. There's two completely different ones: 1 2 Here's the trailer: Looks like a f*cking B movie.
GodfatherITB
I saw the trailer for this and kind of died inside a little. By the looks of the trailer, it'll be sh*t compared to D.D. And I was kind of thinking maybe this movie would have a chance of being good... Guess not.
Vanilla Shake
No thanks. Donnie Darko ruled, and there was absolutely no need for a sequel. TC718 / <629 / CF5
geomy
I added this to the Netflix queue, hoping it will be good. I'm not going to watch that trailer, and I already feel slighted reading your opinions especially since you haven't seen it. Also, not going to watch the trailer, but that director bit makes me a little apprehensive.
asimov
I'll see this, but not at the movies. I can't imagine anything good coming from it.

geomy
OMG I MADE A MISTAKE!! And I made a mistake. asimov - I think it's straight to DVD.
Vanilla Shake
Yeah, it is straight to DVD. I saw it sitting in the bargain bin at a local store, along with The Grudge 3, although that whole series was sh*tty to begin with. Donnie Darko was amazing. MrJohn666
OMG I MADE A MISTAKE!! And I made a mistake. asimov - I think it's straight to DVD. Just teasing mate. I have no idea why Studios greenlight these sh*te sequels. Hasn't anyone in Hollywood got unpowdered nostrils? How about some original stories!?! What next? A sequel to Se7en called "8ight" ? kingvercetti
I never planned to watch this film and probably never will, if I do I'm sure it'll tarnish my view of the series, so I'd prefer to just pretend that it doesn't exist. Donnie Darko was a great standalone film, why couldn't they have just left it alone? Interesting how the actor who plays Samantha is the same one who player her in the first film though I suppose. Exkabewbikadid
The fact that it went straight to DVD is testament enough that it must truly f*cking suck a sucking f*ck. I agree that a sequel wouldn't make sense no matter who did it or starred in it. The first one was an amazingly bizarre viewing experience that really left nothing more to be said. Blind Joe Death
Yeah, this is f*cking ridiculous. Ever since I heard that it was going to be directed by a completely different director from the original DD, I knew it was going to suck. I may just hire it out but I will never buy this piece of crap, unless it turns out to be incredible. Which it won't.
geomy
Looks like a f*cking B movie. Nail on the head. Watched this last night - disappointing to say the least. When it wasn't blatantly ripping off the original (plot, dialogue, you name it) it was filled with contrived bullsh*t and bad acting. Everyone's fears and expectations were right on - don't waste your time or money. Edited June 4, 2009 by geomy
