Syncrude
Hi guys, i'd like to upgrade. This is the best I could buy: C2D E7300 @ 2x2.7 GhZ 4 GB Ram 9800 GT 512 MB VidMem WinXP 32Bit What do you think? Or does someone even have the same system to tell me his performance results? Cheers Syncrude
anus
I'm pretty sure you can get better components for the same price. What's your budget? I recommend going with an E5200 for the CPU and getting a better video card. The E5200 is more value for money than the E7300.
Syncrude
My current system: C2D E6420 2 GB Ram 8600GTS 256 MB I dont want to spend more than 250-300€.
Hydro_PT
You should go for a better C2D. I would recommend the E8400 or E8500. Their price is quite good atm for their performance, I have an E8400 and it's a really good CPU, even without OC. Its price is something around 140€ (E8400) and 170€ (E8500). With a 250-300€ budget you can get good hardware. It's a matter of where to buy. Where do you pretend to buy your stuff? Maybe it will be cheaper if you import it from another country? I usually get my hardware from a nice store some 350 km/h away from home xD. It's cheaper and it comes in 2/3 days.
anus
Keep the CPU, that CPU will be perfectly fine for IV after some overclocking. Spend the cash on a video card, PSU, RAM and an aftermarket CPU cooler instead. I need to know what country you live before I recommend what to buy because prices may differ from country to country. But generally speaking, for 300 Euros, you can buy a HD4870, a 550W PSU, 4GB DDR2 800 RAM and an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler. With all that, you can easily overclock your CPU and the HD4870 should allow you to run the game at high settings with no problem . Edited May 21, 2009 by Warlord. catzilla
For the CPU, get E8400. Everything else is good.
Syncrude
I live in Germany. //After some research I am pretty sure that I will choose the E8400. 30€ more is a good deal. Can I play IV with High Settings then? Edited May 21, 2009 by Syncrude
nemesi5
E8400 has a 6MB cache, you can reach up to 4Ghz on air, much more of an improvement then the E7300. Also, if you are planning to get that, get the Xigmatek S1283 Dark Knight CPU Cooler.
Arkangel
just overclock the CPU and you'll run the game smooth
