Blaster01
I am playing at about 25 FPS+ with medium textures and shadows off and a few other adjustments and then out of nowhere FPS drops to 1. This happens randomly, sometimes I don’t see it for hours of play, sometimes I see it every 15 min and it drives me nuts. The way to fix it is to minimize GTA4 and play around on the desktop for 30 seconds maximize and problem is fixed. I dropped the settings to low, resolution to minimum and I still get it. PLZ PLZ tell me how to get rid of this. SyphonPayne
Your graphics card is under the minimum requirements. You're lucky to even get 25fps. Need an upgrade.
Blaster01
But the game can run great for hours!!! The same happens on very low settings with the same frequency. This has to be some optimization glitch.

Need an upgrade. wow, wait a sec, i thought that the minimum was the NVidia 7900, hmm, am i wrong??? The minimum is 7900GT, that is correct. The 7900GT is substantially more powerful than the 9400GT. 7900GT was a high-end DX9 card, 9400GT is a low-end DX10 card, basically an overclocked 8500GT, and not too great a performer in DX9 either. GTA IV is a DX9 game. EDIT: Technically the true "minimum" is the 8600GT, which is in fact slightly slower than the 7900GT. It's pretty stupid that the "minimum" is a 7900 and the "recommended" is an 8600GT which is slower. Edited May 21, 2009 by SyphonPayne
