Stand By Me is my choice. One of my favorite child hood movies.

No f*cking contest. I've said it before, but I think Stand By Me plays out like a TV movie. Seven Samurai is a f*cking brilliant film that'll make you wish ALL movies were more like it.

And it's not even my favorite Kurosawa. (The Hidden Fortress)

I strongly hope everyone who votes has seen both f*cking films. And I strongly hope you c*nts who keep voting for the retard road trip will post a f*cking explanation. tounge.gif

The greatest movie of all time vs something else.

Anyone voting for Stand By Me should be f*cking ashamed. Try to f*cking justify that. I f*cking dare you.

Nulled, but even if I had seen Stand By Me, I'd still be voting for Seven Samurai guaran-f*cking-teed.

You clearly haven't seen Seven Samurai, considering your track record and all. Oh, and the fact that you voted for TV-quality pap over one of the greatest films of all time.

There is no reason Seven Samurai should lose. It is fantastic. Kikuchiyo is one of the best characters I've ever seen.

I can't vote as I haven't seem SBM, but Seven Samurai f*cking wowed me the first time I saw it, in the middle of the night. Like, I was in a samurai infatuation stage at the time, so it tickled my fancy in all the right ways.

What's going on this round? Folks too stupid to justify their stupid decisions?

Stand By Me - 9

Seven Samurai - 6

wat

You know this whole thing is a matter of opinion, not which films get the best reviews so you can vote for what you think is better, but jesus f*ck can people at least learn to justify their voting? You all have forum accounts that you can post with, right?

I know I've bitched about this for the 9000th time but it's really hard to believe that so many great films have lost far too early and yet we only get the same 7-8 people actually justifying their vote in every thread.

You just keep commenting on every thing I say.(Chill out)

If everybody had the same opinion we'd all be boring as f***. I have seen Seven Samurai, and it's a great flick, but Stand By Me reminds me of the relationship I had with my older cousin Kieth who died when I was 8 years old. He always encouraged me to to do good things in life, so I hold a sentimental value to this movie. So stop trying to dictate my choices, that's why it's called a Poll. (I choose)

p.s. what do you mean, "my track record?"

Just because I don't have a hard on for war movies like you, doesn't mean I don't have good taste. Too many of them follow the same formula: Dysfunctional boys trying to be men, top ranked soldier dies and the unlikely hero emerges, somebody f**ks up real bad, moral lesson, gore, etc....

I've never seen SBM, but it's beating one of the, if not THE, best film ever made.

If you haven't seen both movies, don't vote.

Nulled.

Voted for Seven Samurai, had me captivated the whole way through. I really need to find it on DVD somewhere, rare as a bitch.

Only one justification for Stand By Me... I can't remember who it was (maybe Gronf) but for the final it should be written out. Just so we don't get some people coming in ruining it.

Most online retail stores (e.g. Play.com, Amazon.co.uk) pretty much always have the Region 1 Criterion Collection DVD for sale. Play has it or £15 - http://www.play.com/DVD/Region_1/4-/101129...ai/Product.html

Akira Kurosawa - the man, the myth, the legend. Rashomon, Yojimbo, Seven Samurai and Ran among others. The guy is a artistic genius and I'd probably say Seven Samurai is his masterpiece. Kurosawa put into practise so many different, new or simply 'experimental' elements, that Samurai is not only a brilliant and engrossing story, but education for future filmmakers as well. To see it actually drawing 10 - 10 with a good film like Stand By Me, is something of an insult to Kurosawa's fine name. KAMBEI!

I can't believe these were tied when I voted. f*ck that, Seven Samurai is on a completely different level. I really hope all 11 Stand By Me votes were made by people who have actually seen Seven Samurai--but going on sheer logic I don't think so. Only an infant wouldn't vote for Seven Samurai.

This poll makes me sad. Stand By Me was an enjoyable film but it's just nowhere near the caliber of Seven Samurai.

Stop nulling your votes if you're going to vote Seven Samurai.

It's obvious that's what the f*ckwits voting Stand By Me are doing. It's just f*cking swaying these thing way too much in the wrong direction.

There's no debate here. Seven Samurai is the better movie.

p.s. what do you mean, "my track record?"

I went with Pulp Fiction. I haven't seen Apocalypse Now, but after previous post, I wanna see it. What is it about, if you don't mind me asking?

That's what I'm talking about, dipsh*t. Voting in a film competition when you haven't seen both. Thanks for pretending to know exactly what sort of films I'm into, by the way. Nothing like making assumptions about complete strangers.

Only got to see Seven Samurai for the first time a couple weeks ago and yes it is a triumph of a film, in fact I want it to win this whole competition (or maybe Raging Bull...) It's just a shame that I could not view this film around the time of it's release because it would have been eye popping! Three hours of brilliance.

Every War movie we've done so far you've b****** at anyone who was against it. So sorry if I draw conclusion from past experiences with you. You've done the same thing with me aswell, but I don't blame you, we're only human right?

DemonKing: I found Stand By Me enjoyable too, some people here are giving it way too much flak.

After voting Seven Samurai, a movie that eclipses Stand By Me by such a wide margin I almost feel I need to throw out a sympathetic comment over towards the Stand By Me corner. It was quite an enjoyable film. That's really all I've got, that and who'd a funked that little fat f*cker grew up to lose all that weight.

Seven Samurai is just so terrific that that's as far as I'm willing to take my thoughts on Stand By Me in this comparison. Something I watch on a frequent basis and find it imposible to tire from, Seven Samurai.

Okay, which one of you dipsh*ts just voted for Stand By Me?

Have a f*cking backbone, you useless f*cking philistine pieces of dogsh*t. Own the f*ck up. Let us all know about your completely f*cking worthless opinion on movies.

Seven Samurai is going through. I don't care about the result. I want one reason, one justification, if you can provide that, then fine. Otherwise, f*ck you, it's a sham. This is a tie and yet every single person worth a damn has voted for Seven Samurai in this topic? That lends way more weight than a bunch of dickless anonymous pussies who don't have the balls to fess up about their horrible and ignorant views on the greatest f*cking piece of cinematic genius in history.
