Home

Home has been out for like a half a year now. In your opinion, did it fail (because of lacking content, nothing to do etc.)?

In my opinion, it did. I tried to believe in Home for some time. The bowling was fun for a few hours (I'll admit it, I was bored), and I expected more fun games like it. But there never came new fun games. All we got were some boring clothes, for half of it you had to pay, boring furniture, same story as with the clothes, and that secter thing you could enter from the Home Square.

It was boring, it is boring and it'll always be boring.

Oh and I know there probarly is a topic about Home already, but this is different - this is a poll about Home's fail/success.

Played it once, and I thought it was pretty average. So I guess it did fail, having to wait in line in real life is tedious enough without having to do it in a game (whatever the hell home is)>

Everytime im on home which is VERY rare now..

all i do is wind people up and play pool!

I was expecting so much more from what i had heard about it.

I think it's still early to tell. While some games are using it, not everyone is convinced to go on it. I think they need to give us a good reason to actually use it.

i think its still in beta but as it stands now i think it is very disappointing.

Reasons:

1.- Giving little content on beta release so people get a bad first impression .

2.- Giving different regions different content causing one to be better than the other.

3. They overhyped Home

P.S. - I voted no as it is to early to tell if it 'Failed'.

I'm one of the guys that voted no.

I honestly think home will be big, very big.

more and more developers are taking chances by doing something for Home, like EA.

Just imagine what you'll be able to do in the future.

tho the best of all -: free patapon shirt coming!!! ( tounge.gif )

I'd say many people are still underrating home for what it is now.

I just love playin' poker with my friends at evening, or just some bowling and meeting some new people.

only stupid thing so far is that US home gets more, f*cking sony.

Obviously, it would've been lon if they simply had it done, with loads of devs and tons of content on-deck, from day one. Guess that'll be the case for PS4, instead.

It didn't fail. I'm having plenty of fun playing poker on that EA space. Also pools, etc... pretty relaxing.

They talked about it, I remember, as if it was going to be something mind blowing, a great PS3 feature and experience. And it's quite dull really. So yeah, it failed. Probably because of those delays. People lost interest.

No it hasn't failed at all. Anyone saying it has is not giving it a chance.

1) Its still Beta.

2) Id rather have it, than not have it

3) It will get bigger and better

4) Always new stuff coming

5) Chance to make new friends

I'm saying no in that it's still a beta... and to people saying" ZOMG PHAIL!!!"... it was nevver meant to be a game.. it's like 3d internet.. sure i wish you could atleast jump or something... but it's still some fun and cool to talk to people as it was intended for... but it would have been better if all the countries were interchangable.. IE had the same content and such.. i went on the american version of home to find they had 20 more maps ... why do they get maps.. does it cost money for them to release all the maps to more than the US? well.. yes.. but.. not enpough to with hold it...

also.. i would have been buying many things for my little home character but I won't be now because I've found out that the american home is better... i'm gona switch back and fourth so i can talk to friends or go to a cool map and meet new americans to argue with.. so if i buy things i'll only have them in 1 of my homes... thus not buying...

COME ON SONY... ATLEAST LET US KNOW THAT WE'LL HAVE THE NEW MAPS SOMETIME... YOU RELEASED SOME MAPS FOR US BUT ONLY LIKE 2-3 OUT OF f*ckING 30 <_<_<_<_<

First, I'd like to comment how it seems Sony's online component is always pushed to be on the next console. It started with PS2 and how they kept talking it up and the online portion barely materialized. (Though, I never messed around with the PS2 Online because by that point I had moved on to Xbox Live and Rainbow Six)

Now, I don't yet have a PS3, though I'd like one for a few select games eventually whenever the price drops enough to justify owning one for only those games, and therefore will not vote.

Personally, I'd say it is quite a failure at this point only because of the massive hype it received and the time that it took to come out. Could it be something good? Of course it could be very cool, but given Sony's track record, I wouldn't keep much stock in that notion.

In addition, I'm like buffalosoulj4h20, I haven't thought about it since it was receiving the major hype that it was.

I voted no. Too early to tell. Now if the question was "Did the Playstation Home BETA fail?" That would be a big fat "yes."

It's just boring to me. If I wanted to walk around and play pool and bowl and sh*t, I would rather do it in real life.

It just seems that other than that, there's jack sh*t to do.

I voted Yes beause at this moment it has failed.

1. It brought nothing to improve the PS3 system

2. There was nothing to do, ever!

3. Downloading everytime theres a update, pisses me off

4. I have never even used half of the features that it has rendering them pointless IMO.

They are just a few reasons why i dont like Home, i dont ever see myself using it for a long period of time. I only ever use it once a month if that, very pointless app on my hard drive.

I think it's safe to say that (at the moment) Playstation Home sucks. The lack of customizable features has killed this so far.

But it is a beta.

I can bowl and pool in real life aswell, but I'm too young to play poker...

Grand Theft Auto Dude

There aren't enough game spaces, the differences between regions is dumb, Bowling/Pool/Go Karts suck because they're always occupied, Almost no games support Game Launching, and the Trophy Rooms still haven't arrived.

And, above all, you have to pay for virtual furniture and clothing. They start you off with a bland apartment with crappy white furniture and charge heaps for anything else.

Who voted no? I would like to hear why.

I think it's alright, i've only played it twice. Saying that, it's not really a game, it's more of a meeting place for the extreme indoors person.

The lack of free content and the annoyance of having about 20 repeated chairs in my bayside apartment bored me rather quickly. I just couldn't be arsed updating every so often.

I downloaded Home again. Right now, it's not that bad. The new content has some free games - like the EA racing and the Resistance Quad thing. The racing was kinda fun and so was the Restistance thing, so if there are gonna be more of those free games, I might start liking home.

But seriously, they MUST get rid of the waiting at the bowling and the EA race thing.

It got off to a poor launch. From what I understand they're going to give rewards like items and clothes in HOME for unlocking trophies in games. When it actually gets going with a large amount of games supporting it and when theres more things to do and places to go in HOME, it will be good. Its just getting to that point thats taking time.

Nothing being mentioned conjures up images of the early E3 report. I saved that video when it was posted, it ran over 300Megabytes and early PSP showcase audio was missing, but not during the HOME preview, it was 2006 or 2005 I think.

At the time, PSP Slim was showcased, must have been later. Recall that one?

I believe I'm remembering it right. HOME had a virtual house over looking a nature view of woods and lake, on a deck there was a barbecue going, Kaz was inviting the virtual Phil over! haha

I agree with Darrel's post. And like a few people have mentioned it's still too early to call it a failure, even though it has been out for over a year and a half it's still a beta.

Personally I don't think Home is a fail, I still enjoy visiting it once in a while to play pool or bowl or any other of the minigames they have. Also, being a big fan of museums and theme parks I really love visiting the Home Spaces and find simple excitement just looking at the scenery and the decorations.

I just thought words couldn't describe how stupid it was. You're literally walking about different settings seeing other people do the same thing. And all you can do is talk to them and f*cking dance.

f*ck HOME, f*ck the HOME Beta, f*ck anything that has to do with it. It's a f*cking disgrace that it's on the PS3. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had to go through with a game controller.

Your post was one of the worst experiences I have ever had to go through with my eyes.

Are there already unlockables for one of the following games (or any demo, are there rewards for demo's?)

-Godfather II

-Saint's Row 2

-GTA IV

-Lumines Supernova

-Mirror's Edge

-Noby Noby Boy

-Pain

-Warhawk

-Ragdoll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic

I hope so biggrin.gif

well, if you asked me last january I'd say 'yes' it fails, but seeing it lately with more content and home spaces speaks it's potential in the future.

so as of now, I say 'no'. mainly for the reason that it's still 'expanding' and every month there seems to be something new to check out, mess around in.

those xi minigames aren't half-bad as well as other games like siren's short romp through the ward of despair tounge.gif

I suppose their only recently knowing what to do with home and it does feel like a 'beta' service if any. When it began last year it surely felt like even SONY themselves didn't know what they were doing with it tounge.gif
