Most Intimidating Country

So, I've been seeing a lot about Israel lately, and I've got to say they scare the crap out of me. All of the citizens have been in the military at one point, and it's an excellent military at that. Not only that, but their leaders are not the pussy-foot direct-sh*t-from-home type ours are, I've seen footage of the leaders of the country actually out there fighting war. I mean, just look at Moshe Dayan. I use to have a picture of him sitting with Nixon that made Nixon look like a baby faced gentleman.

Plus he's got a t-shirt

I always kinda thought the lower ranking military officers of the British armed forces should go into politics. They've experienced life and death situations and kinda know what's important. The whole MP expenses bullsh*t here in the UK shows we need a better class of politician. I think ex-miltary folk would be a lot better than the douchebag Oxbridge types we get now.

The most intimidating country? I don't know, there are a lot of them. My list of intimidating countries are either countries that allow their citizens to run around amok waving their assault rifles in the air (Iran, Iraq, Israel, etc.) or countries with a police force that's scary as f*ck (Mexico, China, etc.).

While the rest of the Czech Republic is nice, Prague is f*cking creepy! Had to sleep in a van while I was there, streets were full of weirdos.

I am tempted to Say either Russia or North Korea, but I wouldnt like to be in one of those already mentioned coutries where kids play with AKs and their parents run around with RPGs

I don't find Israel that intimidating. I think they only act tough because they know America has it's back. Now Russia on the other hand, those guys don't play about! We can never be sure of what they're up to! I remember that Simpsons episode, when Homer "steals" the submarine, and the nations are discussing what to do, then the russian guy goes "The Soviet Union will be glad to take in your rogue submarine" and the other guy goes "Soviet Union? We thought it was over years ago!" and the soviet guy now answers "Hah! That's what we wanted you to think!"

Russia worries me most by quite some way. The progressive restriction of civil liberties, the flexing of Russian Military might, the restoration of Stalin as a Russian role model and the rise in agressive right-wing nationalism within Russia itself.

All of this appears, to me, as a steady regression to a Cold War scenario. Putin and Medvedev are systematically undoing the detante of the last 18 years and I find it very unsettling.

There are a lot of countries that TRY to be intimidating but few that have actual impact on others. I think the most intimidating country is... wait for it... America. I don't mean that they're necessarily aggressive but everybody wants to be their friend and they do influence policies in various countries. Nobody wants to piss them off even if they do disagree with them, it's sort of like how you're intimidated by the cool kids even though they barely notice you.

As for aggressive countries I'd have to say it would probably be Israel. They don't have a problem with throwing a bit of weight around knowing the US has their back, for now.

Well, it can't be us since we're all drinking tea all the time, can't be India because they're all over here, can't be Australia cause they're part of the commonwealth, can't be Mexico cause they're all walking around with facemasks... I could go on with my rubbish stereotypes, but I won't.

Anyway. Unless theres another world war, I can't really make my mind up.

Russia is just a big softy. They had 60 years to nuke someone and they couldn't even do that. Underneath all that macho posturing is just a dis-organized mess. Like it's always been. All Russia has is lots of people, land and resources to throw at ya.

I think China is the most intimidating. There was a point where you could confidently say that they didn't really have their sh*t together. Now though... no one really knows what their capabilities are, and no one really wants to find out. There's a lot of potential for bad things brewing there if the authoritarian cloak is never shed. It doesn't really serve their interest to get on the world's bad side atm, but if some event destabilized them, it could provide a catalyst for something bigger.

I understand the sentiment but history shows us that choosing leaders based on military experience can be quite dangerous.

Look at people like Mussolini and Hitler, big war heroes but in the end they screwed everything up.

Used to have quite a few I understand. The very last MP alive during WWII died a week or two ago, and to my recollection he was an RAF Pilot who entered politics for a short time after his service.

I'd certainly like to see more MPs with a military background elected.

Interesting topic.

I wonder if the World would fear a rearming Germany nowadays considering we have money and technology to do so if needed, and that includes nukes. If you look back at WW2, Germany started from scratch and ended up being a military superpower in short time; and you know the rest.

Things has changed, so I doubt such event.

Just wonder

You do know Simpsons are imaginary? I don't see any threat in Russia, and have never seen any.

America, Colombus you f*cker.

They invade Iraq, Afghanistan, every country they actually want, and this is to "fight terrorism". Bullsh*t! Who even asked them to do it? Who are they to do such things because they just want to or because the savior of Earth? They say to their soldiers "God Bless you" What? You say bless you to a soldier who is there to KILL, who his purpose is KILLING, I mean, go f*ck yourself if you think that. And then it's the whole christianity thing. Many of them are just obsessed with Bible, they relate everything with religion, and they consider themselves right. That's f*cking rediculous. And everything is illegal! Like even torrent downloading -.- The only thing that scares me is that European Union will soon actually destroy Europe and we'll eventually become american bastards.

Our geography teacher told the class about Cuba this monday. One time, there was a year of dryness, and a year of floods. That resulted in terrible harvest. So, they thought it was some evil force or something. They captured the Minister of Agriculture, executed him in public (by shooting him (3 to the head, 3 to the torso, 3 to arms and legs, if I recall correctly)), dug up his parents and his first teacher (!), executed them (...), and threw them away.

Also, they spy on the residents in Cuba. At any time they can knock on your door and ask what are you doing. They get paid 20$ a month. They have booklets in which they write how many slices or loafs they've bought. If they are found buying bread illegally (there are some that sell bread like that), they have to tell who, when, how, why sold them the bread, and then they both are repressed.

F*cking scary.

I'm not really afraid of certain countries or nations, but of certain people.

I went to Amsterdam once, and bloody hell it was scary, especially the dark alleys in the sh*t part of town. It's as if everyone there were on an acid trip.

What country intimidates me?

I think I'd have to say Pakistan. They have these nukes and yet just recently there were Taliban militants in their nation. They ave all these great weapons but their whole political system has been shaken up over the years by these damned Jihadists.

The thought of a group like al Queda being in control of a nuclear arsenal is terrifying.

You seem to have forgotten the whole 9/11 thing. Killing thousands of people kind of ticked our leaders off.

If I ever called Bush as my leader I would want to suicide suicidal.gif

I'm not so sure about the 9/11 thing. Even if it is true, then do you have to destroy 2 countries and saying that you're "saving" them because they did that? It was only a goddamn excuse, guess what. Maybe oil, trying to have the feeling you're the best, trying to scare anybody, maybe just to stretch a bit, maybe to open paths to middle easy that you've been always dreamed to be?

Did any war ever did any good at last point? Can you answer me why you invaded those 2 countries?
