thc_404
Good afternoon GTA Fans, Seeing as there's some savvy people around here for everything, I'd thought I'd ask a quick question. Yesterday while running around the city doing some shopping and whatnot, I came across this comp: # Processor / CPU AMD Phenom™ X4 9650 quad-core processor # Operating system Windows Vista® Home Premium # Graphic card / GPU ATI Radeon® HD 4850 (512 MB dedicated VRAM) # Sound HD Audio 7.1 # Hard disk drives / HDD 320 SATA2/7200 rpm ** The price wasn't too bad (around 450€), now I've been looking on the net, but it can't really give me an answer I'm looking for. Can this thing run the latest games (GTA IV, Crysis, Fallout 3), without much problems you think? Or is it better to buy a custom build comp and spent some extra cash, just to be sure? Thanks in advance for your replies. I just put in the noteworthy things, the rest of it is pretty standard, so. :]
Girish
For a quick answer to your quick question regarding whether or not IV will run on it, we have a dedicated thread just for that over here.

Knew that page, thanks for linking it again. Point being the comp i have now, about meets the requirements, yet, i have to resort to low med stuffs. Hence i'm just trying to get an honest opinion from someone. Doesn't hurt to give an opinion instead of linking to other threads, does it? :]
Girish
Hence i'm just trying to get an honest opinion from someone.Doesn't hurt to give an opinion instead of linking to other threads, does it? :] It hurts the forum standards. You're asking for an exception to be made for your topic when countless other similar topics have been locked because they should have been posted in the pinned system reqs topic. If the staff makes an exception for one topic, everyone else would want the same 'special' treatment for their individual topics too. I hope you understand now why posting in the appropriate topic is so important and why I linked you to it.
thc_404
Whatever. Take your gestapo standards, I'll go to somewhere friendlier then.
FullMetal
You can run those games on it but don't expect it to run those games maxed out. You can probably run it with decent settings though(well, my guess). Especially for that price... the question is: what brand? Brand PC's tend to be crap most of the times (fujitsu-siemens/Pacard Bell are the biggest piles of crap). And personally: don't go for Vista. You will get used to it but personally I don't think it's worth buying vista now. (since '7' will be out this fall). It's better to stick to XP for a while and buy '7' later on (since it's more stable I've heard). With custom built PC's you can do whatever you want... and I'd suggest that if you really want to (try) and max out everything. You can do some good deals with custom built PC's and I'm sure there are enough 'computer geniuses' here who could help you out with a rig far more superiour to this one. thc_404
Thanks alot Fullmetal, that helped alot. As it is a fujitsu, i'll refrain from buying it. I just saw the quad core and semi decent graph card, so it got me thinking. (still bearing in mind that pre-made pcs are quite craptastic anyways). Thanks again for your reply, it's much appreciated. :] Edit: after reading this, i'll just save up some more money and pay a bit more for a custom build on, just to be on the save side... your reply made me decide this. Better pay a bit more and have a decent rig, than pay a mediocre price and needing to upgrade after a few months. I'm not all that savvy about it all, hence I thought I'd ask around here. At least one (you), did the effort to reply in a normal sense, thanks again! Edited May 20, 2009 by thc_404
anus
For 450 Euros you can get a custom build that's better than the PC. That PC is okay, the CPU is really bad though, but I still recommend a custom build.

I will go for a custom build indeed, just waiting till the high end geforces will drop in price a bit. :] (never been a fan of Ati anyways, so.) Thought the smartest choice would be going for a custom build, but the price of that other comp was... tempting. Hence I came around here asking for some info. All in all much appreciated, helped me alot and saved me money. kudos to youse.
