I still wonder why these games have their own topics. Like you said, there isn't much else to say besides your K/D or how nerdraged you got during a round. Gotta love this place. To me though, the simple fact of actually debating which game is more fun is a waste of energy. Just go out and use that energy on the f*ckers pointing their sights at you instead.

Blackbird is easily my favourite streak, I only just started running it and am instantly regretting not using it before.

The last few games i played with a normally great group of players it seemed like the spawn system was more broken than usual. And seemed like the AK47 and Galil had more pronounced upwards recoil and the Commando was firing a bit faster. I thought maybe it was the recent title update so i did some research and nothing about those issues were in the Updates.

 

Just curious but is anyone else having the same issues? FYI me and my group play Hardcore TDM.

Treyarch did a TERRIBLE job with Black Ops' weapons imo. The majority of the guns in the game are anachronistic to the time period it takes place, meaning they didn't exist until later years. It really ruins the atmosphere, I mean how can they expect me to walk around a jungle in Vietnam carrying some rifle that wasn't invented until the mid 80s? The lazy developers probably just picked a bunch of guns, and whatever was anachronistic they played off as being a "prototype" in the 60s, but its just absurd. I guess it's because Treyarch lacks, whereas IW would take the time to make sure everything is reasonable and polished in the game. confused.gif

So explain yourself then. CS took time for me to get used to (and again after I stopped playing a while), especially with timing flashbangs, knowing the proper way to aim at an enemy to judge recoil, there were many tactics with that. I knew f*cking websites that had pages and pages of theories and techniques on how to properly utilize each weapon to it's full potential.

 

... and then I played CoD 4 and sprayed everything like a motherf*cker and went on constant 10+ kill streaks.

 

I'm not saying CS requires the brains of a tactical genius, but saying it takes no skill it all is just as silly a statement to make.

I would be one to argue that most/all FPS dont actually take any "skill" per say. Not CS, or Cod, or anything. I understand how it looked I was targetting CS though, sorry about that.

 

In my opinion, it takes 3 thing to be good in an FPS:

 

1. Knowledge of the map. As in knowing where to throw that grenade for it to end up somewhere, or knowing how to pre-shoot well without being a mad sprayman. Knowing positioning and etc.

 

2. Knowing the shooting mechanics, thats just something you pick up along the way in any FPS. How recoil works, will you be able to hit that guy, and etc. You dont exactly shoo the same in BF2 or CoD.

 

3. Reaction. FPS are a pretty nervous game, you need to be able to kill quickly in CQC when an enemy pops up, you need to be able to target and kill that guy whos running across the alley.

Maybe this is skill, I'm not so sure, either you have it or you dont, you can improve upon you're baseline of course, but you wont really be able to become good at FPS if you have no reaction timing in the first place, no matter how much you play.

 

People saying that throwing that flash in the perfect spot is skill is quite silly. As for "skill-shots", its just a mix of knowing shooting mechanics and reaction timing. I just completly disagree that FPS takes skill compared to the truckloads of "skill" some other genres/game takes to actually win. Sure it takes a certain amount of skill, but its just really finite when comparing.

 

Of course if all you play are Action/adventure, FPS and RTS, then yes, FPS would seemed skilled.

 

Games that are skilled? Most MMO's with a good PvP system, most good RTS's and a select games of all genres.

In all honesty, COD is a really easy game to pick up and be good at in multiplayer. I think the majority of the kills in multiplayer are just people being at the right place at the right time (one guy shoots another guy who has his back turned because he's shooting at someone else). The spawning system is so bad now that there are just people all over the maps, so you can spawn and be right behind an enemy. If you really wanna size up your skill, play something like Search and Destroy or any structured game mode since it's much more tactical and skill-oriented. Team Deathmatch and all the big pub modes are a bunch of 13 year olds who spray bullets and think they are the sh*t.

They openly said that the MP weapons were from the Cold War days a few months before the game came out. So just realizing it now is kinda mental.

 

Its a game so it's not going to be 100% factual.

Oh, well I didn't follow the game prior to being released so I didn't know that. But still, it detracts from the credibility of the story to not care about inaccuracies like that. There are plenty of weapons that were around then that they could have used instead.

i thought we went over this with other people when this game came out, its not like they added the ray gun or the thunder gun to add realism they are for fun cause at the end of the day its a video game and video games are supposed to add FUN to our lives. confused.gif

I dunno about anyone else but I, for one am already really tired of Black Ops. I was playing it for a couple of weeks and was really into it... then, things about it started to annoy me.

 

The word black ops and realism shouldn't even be discussed in the same sentence because this game is ridiculous. the RCXD cars ruin it, make it too arcadey, the radio-voice overs, make it way too arcadey.

The other COD games have had a level of realism that this game just does not have, except for times in the single player.

The single player campaign is the best part of Black Ops.

 

Personally, I can't wait to see whats going to happen with MW3.

I dunno about anyone else but I, for one am already really tired of Black Ops. I was playing it for a couple of weeks and was really into it... then, things about it started to annoy me.

 

The word black ops and realism shouldn't even be discussed in the same sentence because this game is ridiculous. the RCXD cars ruin it, make it too arcadey, the radio-voice overs, make it way too arcadey.

The other COD games have had a level of realism that this game just does not have, except for times in the single player.

The single player campaign is the best part of Black Ops.

 

Personally, I can't wait to see whats going to happen with MW3.

Personally I feel the same way when I play MW2. Lunging across the map knifing someone. It's like they added lag as a perk. Also, I cringe at the sheer amount of idiots who run around quickscoping. How realistic is that. Not to mention they all feel like it makes them so elite to real snipers, when really they are just exploiting pussies. Not to mention Treyarch is still putting out patches. Infinity Ward's only support is adding maps for you to buy. It is taking a game breaking hack to get them to support their game, but won't listen to their fans about anything else. At least Tryarch listens to us.

I dont understand when people hate on quickscoping like this? If someones running around with an intervention trying to rack up kills, while his being sprayed at by semi automatics and light machine guns then good luck to him!

 

And as for it not being realistic enough, its a video game why would you want it to be THAT realistic?

I was just making the point that I wouldn't find MW2 any more realistic than Black Ops. I hate on quickscoping because it is cheating. Same way anyone would hate on people in glitches or using aimbots or whatever. I have been saying for a long time that quickscoping exploits the aim assist feature, and all the "elite" quickscopers always deny it and talk about how much skill it takes. Then what do you know, Black Ops comes along and they start taking measures against it because it exploits the aim assist. The real kicker though... the quickscoping community argues with the GAME DEVELOPERS!!! You know? The guys who make the game, saying that they are wrong, it's not an exploit and that it takes skill. Talk about denial.

 

I just hate cheaters. People can say it's just a game all day but I just like to play games without people cheating to win.

I think they should take out aim assist entirely, it pretty much does all the FPS work for you and all you gotta do is pull the trigger. I'll be in a shootout with someone far away, then some other enemy runs across my view from 3 feet away and my crosshairs follows him like a dog chasing a dump truck. Or I'll be walking around thinking I'm alone, then my crosshairs starts pulling itself toward a bush for no reason because there's a guy in there, or a random wall because someone is standing on the other side of it.

 

I think you can turn it off in settings, but won't you be playing against people who are using it, putting you at a severe disadvantage? Or does it put you in a different lobby of players who also have it turned off?

Yes it is. 'Sticky aim' basically does all the hard work for you on consoles.

The crosshair doesn't start pulling itself anywhere. If it locks onto something it stays there but if there's someone out of the crosshair it doesn't pull the crosshair to the enemy.

He means that, as he walks by a bush, the crosshair suddenly sticks to the bush because someone's there.

I agree. I mean, I don't know how much taking it out completely would effect the game, but i really wouldn't mind. I wish they would just disable it every time you have a sniper rifle equipped, and see how much people enjoy quick/no scoping then.

So I got the map pack and downloaded/installed the new patch [in that order] and now Black Ops is freezing at the multiplayer menu as soon as it loads. Seeing as I have it set so the game loads right to the multiplayer menu, this means the game freezes before I can do anything. Here's what happens:

 

Game loads to multiplayer screen > "Reading HDD" > menu controls unresponsive > black loading screen > multiplayer screen again > complete PS3 freeze, music stops, background dust stops moving

 

Anyone else having this problem? I'm on PS3.

I watch my bro play and he got to pack a punch the thundergun and the HK LMG. When we play, we always seem to die on round 7. We got annoyed so we played on Five and we found out that if someone jumps on the other person in the first elevator when its going down, you both die and this little girl starts laughing. WTF mercie_blink.gif

You can do that anywhere... it's a glitch. You normally get more pickups that way (but remember, you need to have a third/fourth person so they can revive both of you).

 

We do it all the time... awesomeness to the max.
