George Brosnan Posted May 20, 2009 Share Posted May 20, 2009 Im not even gonig to read through the entire topic, cos i can pretty much guess what it sais, anyway, it realy depends where you live, a couple of roads away from me is an estate which is full of gangs and sh*t, and the cops spend most of there time down there, and this pisses them off much. anyways, i was riding my bike down the park a couple years back, and some young kid ran in front of me, so i swerved and crashed into a bench, and broke the front park, i was on the floor and my leg hurt like f*ck, and everyones surrounding me, asking if im alright and saying that it was a good deed that i crashed into a bench instead of running the poor kid down, then the cops come, and instead of asking me the "are you alright" questions, the first thing one of them say is, "great, f*cking great, the little sh*ts broken the bench", and start yapping on about how they would have to send me the bill, and i'm just like, mate, do you think thats the biggest of my worries at the moment, and he calls me an ungratefull little sh*t. I know now that was a little rude, but i sprained my ankle for f*cks sake, i really couldnt care less about the goddamn bench, anyway, i never got the bill for that bench, i think they gave up after people told them what at happened. in the end, sometimes you get some nice cops, and then some f*cked-up-in-the-head cops. To the extent that a criminal is given rights over a victim. Like some poor old farmer getting arrested for shooting a scaghead chav who broke into his home. Police seek to protect society, but sometimes society betrays its own protectors. But all the cops I met are lovely people. Just the other day I was in the unwashed land of the North. A policeman gave us directions. And, in a rarity for anyone from Yorkshire, was well-groomed and understandable. In all seriousness, the OP sucks ass, cops aren't too blame for whatever apparent injustice he faced. Even if it was unfair (which it appears it wasn't) then it would be the judge. A man pissing on your lawn isn't exactly acceptable, and he deserved an ass kicking, but that doesn't mean you go and do it yourself. He may deserve it, figuratively speaking, but going and brutally assaulting isn't going to solve anything, especially not the problem itself. That's taking the law into your own hands, and that's a crime. As for Mr Dundee, I haven't met many Americans myself, but of all of them, they've always been respectful and friendly. I really don't appreciate cops that much, they're useful and necessary but in their current application they don't seem to do a whole lot, at least not in Canada. More importantly, the kind of people who are attracted to the job are sometimes okay, but on the other hand some are retards, trust me, I know some of these people, they should not be given power. Perhaps if the requirement to be a cop was more stringent, then we ended the drug war, got rid of speed limits and even increased the pay a little, then we'd get better police. All the police people tend to complain about are the older cops who were hired before the testing was there to prove the competency of officer candidates. PATI - Police Analytical Thinking Inventory WCT - Written Communication Test BPAD - Behavioural Personnel Assessment Device PREP - Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police OACP - Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police Testing These are all separate tests I need to complete and pass before I can even be hired to be a police officer. The Kingston Police Department has a 3 interview hiring process, with each interview being conducted by a team of higher ranking officers and administration. Trust me, it's far from easy to become a police officer these days, not to mention you need a Police Foundations diploma from a post secondary institution before you'll even be considered. Anyway, fro experience, I can say that there are police officers out there who really shouldnt be police at all, some of them are far too aggressive and itchin' to hurt someone, but it all depends on the specific circumstance, its not like this everywhere, but there are most definitely crooked cops, but just like generalizing about a certain country (cough cough), its bad to generalize that all cops are evil people (or great people for that matter), like every other instance, theres the good and the bad, and we as a whole have to deal with it.
