MrcTOtheJ
yes that would be nice but it would be a big map and that means alot of missions (witch is ok with me) i personaly would like san andreas up dated for a gta4 era game but retain a few land marks as in the vinewood sign and MT.chilliad. Algonquin Assassin
I would like a map slightly bigger than GTA IV's, but not too much. I don't want R* sacrificing details for the sake of making the map as big as possible. I prefer reasonable sized maps, with lots of details. As for the landscape side of things I wouldn't mind another countryside, but this time with more in it. SA's countryside at times felt like an empty wasteland. IMO There needs to be more activity like farmers actually farming, rednecks burning up, and down dirt trails in old, rusty pickups etc. You know something that makes it feel more like a countryside. Rachinator
The first two posts are archetypes of every non-thought out point on GTAF. "i want more map space with a current generation games detail" Did you ever think that a bigger map will limit detail of the game? Quality not Quantity! XZGamer71
I miss the countrysides and open spaces.. I got a little claustrophobic in LC Truth XD A BIGGER Mount Chillad, lol, How big do you want it mate!!! Lol. I'm only joking, i can't talk especially as i don't HAVE Sa. But i've seen Vids and etc. Yes, more countryside stuff. Quads again, etc. Back on topic. I'd love to have a larger map, A HUGE LAS VENTURAS. Huuuggeee casinos, 5* Hotels scattered. Los Santos, well SA, pretty much outdone itself there, with a few minor improvment there and you are Golden. Xz.
mubd
I want one large city (big buildings, suburbs, etc), at least two large towns and a lot of small towns, plus countryside separating all of the centres on the map.
GTAOCD
A big map might be great, but you have to remember that with a bigger map the buildings might become repetitive and a lot would be left out. Parts of this have been discussed before...
bobgtafan
i don't argee with the bigger the map the less quaility. Because R* has a engine and model to make detailed environments so they can probably make a map larger with the same or more detail. Look at GTA 3 to Vice and how much detail and things were added into a larger map.
DarrinPA
The PS3 has so much unused potential. I'm sure we'll see some great improvements throughout the series, just like we did from GTAIII-GTA:SA even though it was all on the same systems. As for what I want - Countryside and plenty of it. I said a big map would be nice i know they would have to skimp on quality if so but if you read the fact that I also said I would like to see a updated not bigger version of SA in the end of the post. DarrinPA
Rachinator- as for your "Quality Not Quanity" arguement, that's just an opinion you have. If they had to sacrifice quality for a big map like SA I wouldn't care. But anyways they won't have to, look at the size of 3 and VC - people probably never expected SA to be as big as it is because it was on the same generation consoles. Just wait and see. Omnia sunt Communia
Bigger Map = Less Quality + Longer Release Date + Less Detailed Story = Bad Idea It's simple maths. Those of you who are fascinated by bigger maps are probably just the people who buy Grand Theft Auto, hop in the nearest car, and keep driving until you hit a wall. For the rest of us we like to explore the game; both it's story and environment. I don't want to have to drive around a less detailed city through a less detailed storyline just because a few casual gamers wanted more room to drive their cars. General Goose
Maybe, in the distant future, we could get the best of both worlds. For example, look at Lincoln State. It would be a big map, but, with some slightly better technology, that isn't far off, could be easily as detailed, both story, map and gameplay wise, as we want. MrcTOtheJ
I said a big map would be nice but I like the story line with detail so I guss I see where evrey one is comeing from so a big map may not be possable at the moment but will be [email protected] Fiend if you know me you'd say i'm one of the least cassual game players out there. DarrinPA
The difficult part of making GTA games on this generation of consoles is already complete. Now the simple and fun parts will be added and expanded because they don't have nearly as much work to do now that the game engines have already been implemented in GTA4 and proven to work quite well. There will be no lose of graphics needed to expand the game map, storyline, and extras. GTA has never taken a step bacwards, and they probably won't ever, while clearly pushing the limits of the game. GTA4 is not the end-all-be-all of this generation's consoles. IJM
Personally I favour a larger map too. But, not at the expense of the density and quality of detail that has been achieved in GTA:IV. If my understanding is correct, I believe the current generation of consoles can manage to stream a larger map. The issue comes in the creation of the map. The larger the map, the exponentially more manhours required to fill it to the required level of detail. So while I'd like the developers to do a larger map if they can manage it, I'd rather they'd keep the map size more or less as it is now rather than sacrifice the quality and level of detail. dabaannz
I've thought alot about this and think that Vice city would be a great place to have the next GTA, so I've spent countless hours researching the area and have finally finished this very detailed map. I think it includes everything that we all like, open spaces, beaches. downtown, ghettos, and smaller towns, but wouldn't be too big and spread out. What do you think? NVM... What are you talking about with less detailed story? GTA SA had the most detailed story out of the GTA's, period. I think it also has the most with 107 missions. So you cant say that. Pr0xy_fl00d3r
I dont want a big map tbh, I think the IV rendition of Liberty city was the perfect size, San Andreas was just too big for me, too much country side that was bland and repetetive, a huge desert boring as hell, I guess the strip, San Fiero's city area & Los Santos made up for all that though. If Rockstar focused mainly on all this crap about open spaces & bigger places to drive a Rancher then the game would go down the pan, if people want to drive around buy some sort of racing/car game. GTA Is about exploration, in-depth surroundings. Not a large, empty area that just looks the same.

Tony Mozzarelli 80
There's no reason why we can't have a bigger map than IV, and more qualitative detail than IV. They already have the engine and all the basics sorted, so now they can focus on making the game better. Unless of course the hardware restricts them, which i don't know, but i would speculate that they are able to do a lot more. Like MVC said, I would like to see a bit of countryside, but not just sprawling fields with nothing in them. I want things to see and do wherever i am on the map
