flicko
£3,400 is extremely dear. Have you had a search everywhere? Rung up as many companies as you can (from the information book you receive upon passing)? Checked loads of different sites online? When I first started searching for insurance, the cheapest I found was for £1,300, and that was on my mums name. Stupidly, I stated that she had four years no claims, when you have to re-start from scratch. So I removed the four years & the quote went up be £700. Then I did it on my own name, and stated that I had already done my pass plus course, and I managed to get a quote for £1,200, which is still dear for the car I've got, but I took it anyway. I got the quote by checking on a site called tiger.co.uk, when I came across it in the book you get upon passing your test. In my eyes, it's much, much better than tripe like Confused.com, Gocompare.com and the likes, as it's much easier to get to grips with. Not to mention I got the cheapest quotes on this site. If I were you I'd at least give it a try.

What car did you get insured on, Mines a 1.6 Golf so i never expected it to be cheap.
flicko
I've got a 1.4 Vauxhall Corsa mate. I knew I wouldn't get the insurance cheap, but I too was offered deals at around £3,500 - £4,000 initially. After a lot of searching though, I finally found some considerably cheaper quotes and am pretty content with what it is at now.
