flicko
Great going on the test, buddy (I bet your first thought was to march home, turn on the computer and express your joy on GTAF )! There certainly isn't much room for error, especially in the multiple section segment. Was it your very first attempt? You're now one step closer to joing the (99% consumed by complete & utter twats) club!
chris
Actually the first thing i did was phone me dad to tell him i failed for a laugh, he was made up when i told him i was just kidding, then i went and got a starbucks with me mum It was indeed my first attempt, a fair bit of its common sense and the rest is simple providing you have revised the answer, thankfully alot of the questions i got doing mock exams where on the final test, on some of them i cliked the answer before reading the others Trust me when i say ive encountered my fair share of twats on the road, i got called a wanker for driving in the correct position on the road at the correct speed limit, my dad just flipped him the bird and told him to go f*ck himself. Bullet_Chris
Great. But it aint such a great achievement.Only stupid people dont pass it.I would pass it because I have a good memory and I would learn those damn rules.

All of it is down to common sense basically, and once you grasp the flow of the questions on the test, it becomes all too easy. In a majority of cases, the answers to questions contain phrases to do with safety, and the ones that don't are easy to narrow down the options. I adamantly practised prior to taking the test, and passed around twenty-five times in a row beforehand. The test itself took me around ten minutes to complete the multiple section segment, and I passed with flying colours. I wish you the best of luck with your practical. chris
I just booked it for the 10th June, 8:30am, hopefully i will be stuck in the heaving Liverpool traffic so the 45 mins should be boring but simple @BulletChris, its quite true what you say it would be stupid if you did no prior revision for the test. On the other hand though it is a great achievement for me because i have an awfull memory and i tend to let my nerves get to me in exams, the plus side is that it makes me feel excellent when i pass Edited May 21, 2009 by ·chris
*gta star*
Well done! Don't rush into your practical test though, I know its a temptation but it takes practice and concentration. I'm not saying you don't have any of those, but make sure you take those extra few lessons, or ask for tips etc- It will pay off in the end. chris
Its already booked mate, June 10th, my instructor said i was ready last month but with both the practical and theory tests the waiting list was 3 weeks for both of them. My driving instructor is a pretty decent bloke he is giving me a free lesson every day for the week leading upto my test, im going in my own car though because i am much more comfortable in that then my instructors. flicko
im going in my own car though because i am much more comfortable in that then my instructors. Never knew you could do that - I at least thought you had to go in a car with Dual pedal controls, since the invigilators do still have to use them on the odd occasion (of course if they do it results in an insta-fail). Add to that the fact the invigilator has to write down your instructors personal information from his card (which is usually stuck in his car somewhere), and it surprises me that you are actually allowed to do it. Are you entirely sure you are allowed mate..?

1066ant
Interesting, I honestly never knew you could, for legal & safety reasons. I belive there ars ome rules regarding saftey, a chap I was talking to a few years ago at a car show said you couldn't take a test in a Morris Minor because it had no headrests. I would imagine most normal cars built post 1980 would be accepted for a test though.

chris
Yeah providing my car has headrests, seatbelts and looks to be in overall good shape i am liable to take the test in my own car, if for example i had a ciggarette in my car before the test then the instructor can say no to getting in. Im valeting my car today getting it nice and shiny, not smoking in there till after i pass haha

Thats what i thought aswell, my cousin told me his friend had a ciggarette 5 minutes before his test and when the instructor got in he said that the cars enviroment was polluted and he wasnt going to do the exam, wether its true or not im not exactly sure but im not taking no chances anyways. flicko
That's the best way to go about it; it's much better to be safe than a complete twat on the road, obviously. Most new drivers, particularly males, have no idea of how dangerous it can be until they go racing, or overtaking their mates on a country road and have a fatal accident. Only then will it kick in. Just drive how you feel comfortable. If you drive like a lot of folk who have just passed their test, chances are, you'll be putting other lives in jeopardy as well as your own. Insurance can be a right bastard to get sorted, have you got yours yet?

I got quoted £3400 with the policy in my name, i will be building up my no claims and in the meantime i hope to get my passplus which should lower it by a bit. I can afford the repayments but i need to put a £500 deposit down which is a nightmare, fortunately i was in an accident when i was younger and have £800 in an account for when i turn 18, i read up on it and i can get the money earlier providing its for college/6th form etc. The onyl sh*t part is trying to find the f*cking money to get it out. Might just ask me grandad to loan me it untill i get the £

My mates just had his license took off him, don't fall into the same trap thinking you have to go 40 everywhere, better safe than sorry, and plus you'll still have £60 in your pocket rather than the bobbys!
