neilthecellist
Hello, I need help , i´m having very low FPS on GTA 4 on a fair system I know my system isn´t top notch but i´m experiencing a max 13 fps on the game witch makes it almost impossible to play. My system configuration: Processor: AMD Athlon X2 6000+ 64 bits Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Video Card: 2 X (Zogis GEFORCE 8500 GT 512MB PCI Express SLI) connected buy SLI Memory: 6GB DDR2 800 Chasis: Coolermaster SLI (6 X 12cm Fans) Power: Thermaltake 430W Real Power OS: Windows XP pro 64 bits SP2 (i have altered the reg so it looks like sp3 on the info, because there is still no Sp3 for XP pro 64) Ive installed Direct X9 + Amd Fusion + Nvidea 180.84 driver and on the SLI Performance mode enabled force alternate frame rendering 2, also installed the lastest update pach for the game. 1.0.3.0 My system works good with other apps and games so i´m really confused , and browsing the forum i have noticed that some people are experiencing better results on worst systems . Ive noticed a strange thing , when i pause the game and Ctrl+alt+del for the task manager , only one part of the cpu is in 50% and the other stays in zero , in the benchmark tool on the game my cpu usage is 85% while the mem usage 46% and the gpu stays in 70% (i think its not using the sli) and also windows is using a 32 bit emulation of the game since my OS and processor are 64 bits. that´s strange because i thought that gta was 64 bits. Well i´m thinking in upgrading the OS to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 , would it help? Any thoughts ? Thanks in Advance, George Costa Your processor sucks. Your video card sucks. Your RAM is awesome. Your cooler is awesome. Your power supply REALLY sucks. Your operating system is awesome. Replace anything that sucks in your computer.

Yep i know that my processor and video cards are a little bit old but i think it fits the medium graphic resolution for the game. But until i upgrade my system can i get a decent medium graphics configuration? When i put everything on low i can manage to get a 30 fps. But for me its a crappy resolution , i think my system could do better . I think Gta 4 doesnt take advantage of the SLI system and it seems to use only one graphic card. Is there some sort of configuration to my nvidea driver to make things better ? should i disable sli since and use a single GPU configuration since GTA does not take advantage of this system yet? []´s George Costa I am buying a new power supply with at least 600W true power and sli ready. I think my system could run a little faster if my power supply is better. Also im getting a low rpm on the power supply fan around 800 RPM and when i try to overclock a little bit the fan goes to 200 RPM , so i think the main problem in my system as you said is the crappy power supply. I think i will buy this one -> Coolermaster eXtreme Power 600W RP-600-PCAR ATX12V V2.01, Fan 120 mm, with inteligent fan control 20 dba,SLI,Crossfire ready, Protection against high tensions / OVP / OCP / OTP Is this one ok ? Another sugestion? Thanks, George Costa
