I since discoverd when using a combination of mouse and controller at the same time you can get an autoaim with no recoil which is devestating online.

So I think somthing needs to be done, yeah.

4th patch to what? what's wrong with the game? overall it seems like patch 1.0.3 gave the best out of everyone's machine, fixed the freezing stuttering issues along with many other graphical problems.

 

I don't see why a patch would be released every 2 months, honestly ... instead we could deal with new missions every 2 and 2 months hehehe

Not for me buddy, I installed 3 patch and game wouldn't load, got looped on loading screen. Removed and installed once again... Used 2 patch and voila it worked. Applied patch 3 and it works again ....

 

Now when I play NO MATTER WHAT THE SETTINGS NOR DRIVERS it crashes EVERY time I play, I can sometimes play for 10mins sometimes more, but it will always crash without fail.

 

Done all updates, BIOS updates, BIOS on card update, Windows updates and did every fix possible I can find.

 

Who says the patch is good? :?

So here we are again with people going "we won't get a fourth patch", we will get a fourth patch I imagine we won't get it any time soon since there is the newly discovered lack of recoil for mouse users which I think Rockstar are keen to sort out.  I would probably guesstimate somewhere around the middle of June we might see a new MAJOR patch.  There is an outside chance me might see the patch by the end of May but I wouldn't put money on that.

Absolutely agree. They're gonna keep doing that until next summer. It should be around 20 patches taking their pace under consideration.

It was one thing when people just had car spawner's, skin changers and god mode, but this is ridiculous.

It's not going to happen, for them to "fix" multiplayer, will mean moving away from "shared hosting " to dedicated hosting. Not going to ever happen probably, two reasons, one their main target audience is the consoles, on which this type of MP works fine, second reason is a money issue, as they would have to completely redo the MP part of this game.

I doubt it that 1.0.3 would be the last patch for GTAIV: PC, and I think that 1.0.4 would be released in like max. a month beyond now.

Top priority things should be the reported gameplay and joystick issues, some compensation for antialiasing like GTA SA had and an improvement on those horrible pixelated shadows.

 

If they could rewrite parts of their engine for PC, so it distributes the load better between CPU and GPU (read: optimization for PC), then it would be perfect and Rockstar would have regained my respect.

AFAIK real AA to this DX9 game isn't possible, but in GTA SA for PC you had some anti aliasing mode that actually improved it abit.

In IV it's totally lacking and making edges look really jaggered for me, while the motionblur (P) is not the one that the x360 had.

I do think they'd add a new patch soon, but patch 1.3 solved my MAJOR crashing problems so i'm already satisfied with the game as it is (minus all those additional content they could add like SA)...

we really need the cheating thing fixed, i havent played since the cheats came back.

also if they could add some sort of dx10 feature then we could have AA, i read somewhere that dx10=AA for gta4.

Oh and fix stuttering issue with high textures on 1gb cards, its not very noticable but it is there (im running a 4870 1gb)

Not sure it would really help. The people with mods who are out to annoy other players will still go to normal matches.

 

I do have mods (car spawner, character selector and a trainer), however, I only ever use them in private matches, or freemode matches with friendly fire turned off. (I don't even play any other match types).

 

In fact, I had a lot more fun when no one had mods, and I can't wait until the next patch when (hopefully) cheating will be fixed for a while again. If there is no mods, I have lots of fun. If lots of people have mods but I don't, I can't have any fun. But if I get mods when everyone else does, I can still have some fun (not as much as before though).

 

But even though I enjoy these mods, I still would much much prefer no one having mods (including myself) as the people who are out to annoy people with their mods are really very annoying. There is now a kicking mod, and a mod which lets people take control of everyone's vehicles. Not to mention the mass car spawning and rocket guns people use.

 

It's making me want to go play it on the xbox 360 just to get away from cheaters, and that's not a good thing.

Also i want a 64bit exe. , optimized cpu & graphics, new commandlines or a real ini. file , higher mouse sensitivity , able to leave keys unbinded, Release SDK and server packs , better helo control

- Fixes for reported issues in gameplay, incompatabilities with mouses etc

- Better shaders - the current ones look horribly pixelated

- Some substitute for anti aliasing like GTA San Andreas had

- Option to select a savegame to load after the 'Start' button. Now it loads the savefile that was modifed last

 

- Would it be possible to optimize the game for PC more? Distributing the load better between GPU and CPU

- Dedicated multiplayer server software - please

- Better anti cheat system in multiplayer. People who would host dedicated servers could enable or disable the anticheat service. So you would have servers with frequently updated anticheat software, and servers ('raw servers') where inpure clients were allowed so people could use mod

 

Imo these are the top priority things Rockstar Games should work on

I think there will be a 1.5 patch after 1.4 but I wouldn't expect much more after that, 1.5 would likely be anti cheat or some kind of fix for online play, don't expect many bug fixes from now on.

directionals. recovering would be impossible

You're right, but they always could change the engine around to support DX 10.

It just would take time, resources and DX 10 cards...

 

Looking at the cheating problem, they could cut a deal with a company named Even Balance, they specialize in making anti cheat solutions for online games (punk buster), i play farcry 2 with PB and NEVER i saw someone cheat with PB enabled, NEVER...

PB should be in GTA 4 and forced in ranked matches, either you want it there or not, but in player matches it would be optional, same goes for the file protection R* put in with 1.3 patch.

PB would stop 99% of cheaters, im 100% sure of that.

Numpad 8 = forward

Numpad 7 = strafe left

Numpad 9 = strafe right

Numpad 5 = back

Numpad 4, 6 = lean

Numpad + = jump

Numpad 0 = duck

Numpad 2 = prone

Numpad 1 = action

Numpad enter = vehicles

Numpad del = rate of fire

right, left arrows = weapon switch

down arrow = run

Numpad divide = reload

 

The rest of the numpad , arrows , page up-down arrays are assigned depending on what game im playing. I also use the Logitech universal Trackball. I tryed to adapt to the gay Windows Live Key, the controls felt absolutly retarded.

 

Windows Live only needs one key? Maybe it should be the key with the picture of a window on it ??????????

Hey there,

I think we have to wait a very long time for another patch.

First of all, the huge wave of complaining user is gone and

a lot of people already bought this game, so R* beliefs they don't

have to concentrate on a patch #4. May be there will be a patch

before LaD comes to pc but who knows if the addon will be released

for pc.

When I play GTA IV I have to overclock my 8800 gts g92 to 750 core clock

otherwise the game won't run smooth.

Anyway if they really bring a new patch they finally have to deal with the

performance issues. There's still the problem of decreasing performance/fps

driving through different districts. Also the stormy weather und driving by

night (lights on) in LC is quite disillusioning.

However I don't belief a patch with only 30 mb (like the former ones)

won't solve these problems.

Honestly I don't think GTA IV will be fixed anytime. I guess it's like Crysis. As a common

pc user you have to wait for the next pc-gen until you can enjoy this game (or

you are a very rich motherf* [sorry ] ).

Sure you could tell me to buy a sound card but my sound was fine in 1.1 and 1.2, unfortunately I only use 2GB ram and only have a 8400GS card so newer games are really suffering atm like Empire TW and L4D

Then its you, your specs are sh*t and for me this patch actually stopped the shuttering and lopping.

90% would agree as 1.3 being a beneficial patch, they all were.

I have to admit that patch 1.0.3.0 had minimal effect performance wise in my case. I'd rather give the third patch the designation of a stability patch. Post patch I have not had one ctd while playing gta4. The single most important contribution performance wise for me has been the user submitted tweaks. Specifically, the xlive tweak is what pushed the performance over-the-top and made the game playable imo (at least for me). Also, I think some credit also has to go (again in my case) to Nvidia with their upgraded driver support. As far as the next patch, I think you'll find (and this is just my opinion) that allot of people (I wont say majoriity) now find gta4 playable and the urgency to release the next patch has subsided somewhat. My guess is that if one is in the pipeline, you might be looking at the end of June or possibly mid July. However, this is all simply an educated guess.
