Rockstar does not officially support modding, and thus it is not a part of the series. Never has been, never will be. I believe (and hope) that the reason the next patch is taking so long is because they're working on an anti-cheat solution, which I'm relatively certain they are. You can go about arguing that cheating, or "modding" in Free Mode does not hurt anyone, but the fact is that it doesn't matter. Rockstar is obliged to deliver the product as it is (or rather, was). The younger audience that wishes to mod, and who who apparently lurk around these boards will not be taken into concideration. There is no way that a serious company would allow modding in multiplayer modes because a bunch of kids asked for it. Even the SAMP and other fan made multiplayer MODS didnt allow client side modifications (because thats simply CHEATING) and would kick AND BAN anyone that were found to be using them. This would be the case if there were server admins in GTA4, and there wouldnt be not a single server that was sympathetic to cheating due to the fact that the server would need restarting every 15 mins and little cheating brats arnt going to be able to convince their parents to pay subs on a dedi for them. These 'modders' (cheats) really have no f*cking clue what they are saying and tbh id rather say so than just be quiet in the hope they dont go crazy on MP, because guess what, they are already going crazy on MP... Had my copy of gta iv off my pc for months now so still waiting for confirmation of a solid anti cheat which updates regular before I reinstall gta iv. The only modding should be done server side, the client should not be able to mod ANYTHING. If your not the one running the server and you're using mods, then you're ruining the server. There a lots of servers that have modded content in Halo, but it's determined by the server owner and all of the clients have the same mods (IE: fair). Client side mods are for OFFLINE USE ONLY! Same as every other game ever made. If you are using client side mods online, you're not a modder - you are a hacking cheat - plain and simple. Real modders know what I'm talking about and agree 100%. If you don't, it's because you're cheating. Modding takes skill where as using someone's else's hack (copy n paste) to give you and unfair advantage online is for the uber noobs - a monkey could do it. I'm with the other fellow that's not playing multi until an anti-cheat comes along - haven't played in months. Reminds me of F.E.A.R. which I really enjoyed playing. They even released the multi player part of the retail game for free!!!! I respected that so much, I went out and bought the game after having so much fun with the free multi. Not only did I support what they where doing but I also got a pretty interesting single player game along with it. Fairly soon afterwards, they dropped punkbuster support and things went down the tubes. People running around with god mode, or making it so that everyone was on fire - all sorts of just really annoying stuff. Now look at it - F.E.A.R. multi is deader than a doornail BECAUSE OF CHEATERS. So you HACKS (you don't deserve the respect of the title "modder") enjoy it while it lasts. Becasue you're killing it and it's only a matter of time before you're doing what you should have been doing all along - playing with yourself (offline of course!). Either because an anti-cheat measure is implemented or because people stop playing all together because of all the cheats. Recently the only person ive called a cheat (who wasnt openly spanwing silos on checkpoints) was Golod, i did call him a cheat in the races where you were present. I only called him a cheat because his Blista Compact (and every other car during every other race tbh) was considerably faster than my (and everyone elses) Ruiner, which just shouldnt be the case. Now, there is a bug in the net code that means that some players benefit from a higher speed for some unspecified reason (i know because it used to happen to me, and i made a thread about it in this very forum and posted a video). The only reason i called Golod a cheat was in frustration because hes on the game 24/7 and he seems to always benefit from this 'got speed' bug, which is not totally dissimilar to some handling mods out there, and his sportsmanship sucks too, he just gives up and parks if he falls lower than third during a race and responds in quite angry terms alot of the time. Im pretty sure i didnt call you a cheat recently tho lovin, from what i recall, you used to be very good, but regardless of how i come across on this forum i DO NOT throw hackusations around frivolously and i do consider the lag equation when i see something suspect. Tho i seem to remember you doing pretty badly in recent races with you and in TDM after the race you hardly even played, you just went off and got the copper and got killed within seconds of coming back to the prison LOL. OTHERS were calling you a chopper spawner tho, NOT ME because i saw how long you were away from the prison before you turned up in it (you had $100 for the first 10 mins of the game). Hope that clears it up. I was calling a guy a cheat that TDM tho but he was blatantly using God-Mode, and i did call HIM french Psymn, isn't McLovin2404 from Australia and not French? I dont go down that line unless i know for a fact some one is cheating, which is usually reserved for the spawners/god moders... I foundit easy to believe Golod was cheating since i recall him getting out of his car in RACE mode (not GTA RACE) to try and move a tug boat (methods unknown), which imho, if you want to be taken as a clean player you shouldnt have such capabilities installed and if people are hacking your server, as a clean player you should just take it on the chin, call them french bastards (of you know who they are) and leave. But that was a while ago, and because he may well have just had this 'got speed' bug i didnt call him french either. The worst thing I have now is realistic driving and flying in MP, and car spawning. Haven't used anything else. And if you consider vehicle spawn a cheat, you can go to hell. What is it for you if I drive an admiral or a pmp600? Nothing, it simply makes me feel better to drive my favourite car. And I'm only in non-ranked freemode, using Realistic Driving...
