darthYENIK
Who really cares. It's not like they are publicly broadcasting the images, or someone is in a back room jerking off while looking at what amounts to pictures of people looking like they are frozen in carbonite. And if there is, it doesn't hurt anybody.
Cursed
It wouldn't bother me, it's only an outline anyway. I haven't been on a plane since 2000 though, since my Mum is scared of flying.

K^2
Would you rather have someone touching you all over? I don't. No. I would rather take my chances with Mohamed and whatever's in his backpack without either one of us getting subjected to a full body search. Hands or X-Ray makes no difference. You say that now, but I'm willing to bet my left nut that if you were on a highjacked airliner with a couple of suicide bombers that got weapons on the plane that a pat-down couldn't find, your whole view of these full body scanners would turn right the f*ck around. And you'd be out of your left nut. Fortunately for the both of us, this is an extremely unlikely scenario. I know that. I also know that it can happen, and every time I step onto the plane, I accept that risk. Knowingly, and holding full responsibility for my choice. If there happen to be terrorists on board, well, there are far worse ways to go. There is a certain level of risk that every person should be wiling to accept in order to possess certain freedoms. If the fact that your ticket come up makes you change your mind on that, then you aren't the kind of person I'd have anything to do with. Max_Powers
It's really funny how as soon as this comes up, certain people would automatically want to try to assure you that their dicks are huge, and therefore they don't care, as if anybody in a forum full of guys is really supposed to give a sh*t, never the less the girls here. I'm just going to theorize that the first person who brought up, or implied a dick issue, I'm going to assume thought of it first because he's insecure about it. But besides all that, human rights violation! Ramble ramble ramble. My dick's small, ramble ramble. LOL I don't care. If it makes them sleep better at night go ahead and scan me nude. If your not doing anything wrong who cares? Its not like the cool superman xray vision that makes a college campus look like a nude beach.

Dr.pay'n spray
it's not intended to be a pain. Thought I'd add, while I don't agree, or disagree either way. My only main concern when flying, is getting where I'm going; and I fly quite alot. But even if it's not intended to be a pain, it is. I personally really don't give a sh*t if some weird f*ck in some room somewhere is jerking it to the scans, he's not hurting anybody. It's just I don't personally trust the TSA to not incorporate it as just another f*cking nuisance overall, because I'm sure they'll still find some reason to ask you to do a million other things on top of it. They'll still have to scan your carry-on luggage, etc. This is quite simply a mild step-up from the simple metal detector, only this one includes a subtle invasion of privacy to those who actually do give a sh*t. Try to understand that appearing naked to some random person, being forced to do so, and completely aware of the anonymity of the person seeing it, isn't going to sit well with the average, paranoid joe. While it might sit perfectly well with say a nudist, or a pornstar.
Jesus'En'Hitler420
I really doubt they paid all the money for these machines just to get sh*tty, grainy black & white with an indistinguishable ass crack. I think the technology is much further along than they lead on, that's usually how it is anyways. It's probalbly already in full color and at much higher definitions, atleast if they hope to achieve the goal they present in the article, that is. Dingdongs
Actually, laptops are checked separately So? It still goes through the X-Ray scanner. They don't take it apart. I've never seen anyone open up a HDD bay to see if it's actually a HDD in there or a stick of C4. Even if they do, they certainly won't be taking the HDD itself apart. If you leave some of the mechanics within, it will look like normal HDD on X-Ray. And most laptops can be booted from a memory stick, so it will run fine even without a real working HDD. Now, tell me how they'll prevent something like this? Keeping in mind that 100g of C4 is more than enough to make a hole in the compartment and make the whole plane structurally unstable, almost certainly causing a crash. Also, shoulder-launched rockets aren't as hard to come by as you might think. It'd be a lot easier to take out a plane that way then trying to carry something on board. The real reason we don't see a lot of terrorist attacks is because there aren't a lot of people who actually want to blow up the planes. With the way things have been going lately, you are much more likely to be victim of clueless pilot than a crafty terrorist. And it's no credit to TSA. I think you're being a little cooky here Trust me, they'd pick up C4 in your laptop. You're really ' midunderestimating ' the power of the Department of Homeland Security. swampslop
So they're going to scan me, look at my penis, check my arse crack and not buy me dinner? They least they could do is buy you a drink beforehand. There's just no such thing as a gentleman these days.
Mike Tequeli
I don't mind this thing really, there are so many reasons why it isn't a problem, the main one being that it doesn't actually show much of you at all, they can't seen your genitals. It seems to really speed things up having these machines. I remember Lewis Black saying something along the lines of "if I could show up to the airport completely naked and not have to go through security, I'd do it." swampslop
On the plus side if you like exposing yourself to people then airports are a great new hangout I suppose.

Mike Tequeli
I remember on the news though that the image wasn't very detailed and they destroyed the images pretty quickly. Things might have changed though.

I never considered my nudity a private thing. Everyone's naked under their clothes. Things I do in my home, like sexual activity, and playing guitar poorly, are something I don't think the world needs to see. Therefore, my what I do in my home is private. So in my opinion, your example is completely different than this subject. Of course that's just MY point of view, I have no problem with it. I guess my statement of "who really cares" should have been, "I don't really care".

You're in a public place, about to enter an airplane with lots of other people and be away from the ground (therefore away from police etc) for enough time to do lots of evil things, so I think that they have the right to make sure everyone's safe. Also, agreed on the nudity part, it's far from being a big deal. So now you'll protest against people who say to the shy ones to imagine the crowd naked when they speak/perform in public? |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Seachmall
Oh no! Some stranger gets to see your willy?! Seriously, who gives a sh*t? They're genitals, we all have them and no one (other than you) gives a f*ck who small they are. People are WAY too sensitive to these things.
