Pr0xy_fl00d3r
Halo 3: ODSTHalo 3: ODST (formerly named Halo 3: Recon) is a standalone expansion for Halo 3, based in the fictional Halo universe. In the game, players will take on the role of a UNSC Orbital Drop Shock Trooper (ODST) during the events leading up to Halo 3The main objective of ODST is for the player to search through the ruins of New Mombasa and discover what happened to his missing teammates. After finding a piece of evidence left behind — a sniper rifle hanging on a lamppost, for example — a flashback is triggered and the player assumes the role of the missing soldier. After players find the first beacon, the choice of where to go next is up to the player. It will also include an option which, unlike other Halo games, will allow the player to play the campaign levels in any order they want to. The game is set during the events of Halo 2 in the fictional city of New Mombasa. Although the gameplay of Halo 3: ODST bears a strong resemblance to previous Halo games, the player does not assume the role of the Master Chief as in the Halo trilogy. Instead, the player controls a lone UNSC soldier in the city of New Mombasa, East African Protectorate (formerly Kenya). Since the soldier, known as an ODST or Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, does not possess Master Chief's advanced armor, reflexes and strength, he is more vulnerable to gunfire; players are forced to act more cautiously. While the game is not focused on stealth gameplay, some elements of stealth will be incorporated. It will also include an open world environment. The game's protagonist, referred to as "the Rookie", is an unnamed member of the UNSC Marines' Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) or "Helljumpers". ODSTs often deploy in small, one-man Human Entry Vehicles (HEVs), launched from spaceships in the upper atmosphere.[10] During the game, the Rookie is separated from his four teammates and must find out what happens to them with the guidance of a city maintenance AI known as the Superintendent.ODST's multiplayer offering is identical to Halo 3's, and will ship with a total of 24 maps. maps consist of the original eleven Halo 3 maps (Construct, Epitaph, Guardian, High Ground, Isolation, Last Resort, Narrows, Sandtrap, Snowbound, The Pit, Valhalla), the Heroic map pack (Foundry, Rat's Nest, Standoff), the Legendary map pack (Avalanche, Blackout, Ghost Town), the "Cold Storage" map, and both parts of the Mythic map pack (Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox; Citadel, Heretic, and Longshore) ------------------------------------------------------------ Heres just some info I gathered on the upcoming downloadable content for the amazing Halo 3. This looks..awesome!

Rios44
I'm going to wait for this game. If CoD6, is amazing, its the only game I'll be playing online... Unless Assassins Creed gets XBL.
BigNekkidSnake
Meh, not too big on Halo games. I'm sure my little brother will sh*t a brick and try to convince me to get this when it comes out.
Pr0xy_fl00d3r
I just really love the idea of playing as something other than a Spartan. Chief is awesome, but playing as another UNSC unit is great, think of the freedom Bungie could have in making this epic, if it works well we might sometime see the rumoured Halo: Chronicles. I love Halo, such a gripping story behind it, but I dont think we will be seeing chief again as that would ruin the epic trilogy. It would be cool, however, to play as someone like Sgt. Johnson or The Arbiter. Or even on the Covenant side.
pizza guy
I'm disappointed that there's no new maps. The single player should be brilliant though.
Pr0xy_fl00d3r
I think Bungie have released more than enough multiplayer mapsfor Halo 3 to last a life time, it has been mainly a multiplayer game, thats what makes it so good apart from the brilliant conclusion to the trilogy, Im sure that a little bit of single player wouldn't hurt anyone. The-King
Definitely looking forward to this, it'll be nice to move at a slower pace considering how hectic the original games got at times, especially when the Flood came. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

Robinski
Jesus, the mission Cortana on legendary made me physically sick. That level was just stupid. It was ridiculous. The whole pallet of 2 shades of brown thing was infuriating, the design was hard to follow where you were, those transforming little f*ckers were always sniping you from range, lots of annoying things. And then there was that one room where it resembled a spiral staircase so the ranged-transformers could shoot at you almost indefinetly. It was definetly the only level in Halo (any) that i thought was badly designed. Anyway, I'm unsure of whether I'll buy ODST or not, seeing as I've matured I've gone off the Halo series especially for Halo 3 (completed it on Legendary, played about 50 online games and never touched again). But hell, I might just buy it to see what direction they take it. I guess my wallet at the time'll be the decider.

Pr0xy_fl00d3r
This is meant to be released in Autumn, I have an awful feeling that they're going to do a R* and put it forward a few months.
Lethal Nizzle
Uber-bump: there has been a new ViDoc released by Bungie entitled "Desperate Measures" revealing small profiles of each character, some profiles of weapons, gadgets and other neat stuff: here. SyphonPayne
I preordered ODST at newegg a few days ago, and it has already arrived here 11 days before release. I've already beat the campaign in co-op, it was a great campaign. One particular part was a little frustrating, but it was well worth it to get through for the absolutely amazing battles that proceeded it. I've played a little firefight, very fun. Hard to get big groups seeing as hardly anyone has this game before release, but it is epic.

poopskin
LEGENDARY PROTIP: Co-op with as many people as you can. have one player stay behind (if possible) to be a designated respawn bastard. With this trick, Cortana is only mildly irritating!

Thats a massive jump on the street date, but it's good to hear it's a good game. I can't wait for it to come out, i pre-ordered a copy today so i can get Sgt. Johnson in firefight. I hope i can find some decent teams for firefight too, there are bound to be the crap players, it's inevitable in a c-op mode like this. Out of 10, how would you rate it btw? Lochie_old
I pre-ordered to get that nifty controller with it, stoked that you also get Sgt. Johnston and Halo Reach beta.
Minic
I wanted the one with the controller, but i ended up getting the cheapest copy i could find off Amazon.co.uk, which still comes with Sgt. Johnson and Reach Beta, so i'm happy.

ElBarto3131
to anyone who has already played it. Is it worth the $60 price tag? Seeing as bungie was saying that this was going to be an add on, not a full game?

SyphonPayne
to anyone who has already played it. Is it worth the $60 price tag? Seeing as bungie was saying that this was going to be an add on, not a full game? Hell yeah it's worth it. I've gotten something like 74% of the achievements and 70% of the gamerscore. Firefight is friggen fun, can't wait 'till more people have the game. Now one particular level in the campaign is a little repetitive, but it's not enough to make it not worth the $60 because it really doesn't feel like an expansion at all... The story is great. About that ending question you had, just know it's a great ending and completely different than the endings of Halo 3/2/1. I really wish I could tell you, but I just can't.
