What a f*cking choice. Too different to even begin to compare. Two different beasts.

An amazing 'Nam film or the greatest superhero film ever? I love FMJ, I really do. Love watching it with my father and laughing at R. Lee Ermey berate the recruits mercilessly. Such great lines, and then being in awe when the boys actually go into battle.

But Dark Knight man... Absolutely love it. A modern masterpiece.

My vote goes to the Joker and I am of course referring to the one played by Matthew Modine, not the dead guy. Full Metal Jacket is one of those films that has really stuck with me and one of my favorites.

I nulled. As much as I love The Dark Knight, I love Full Metal Jacket just as much. They're both amazing films in their own rights.

As much as I liked TDK, I'm pulling for Full Metal Jacket here. The Dark Knight just didn't stick with me like FMJ did.

Great matchup, though.

My god. Hey soja boi.

As much as I like Nolan's film, can't vote against a master work.

Haven't seen Full Metal Jacket in full, so nulled. From what I've seen, it's a great film - R. Lee Ermey is one crazy mofo.

Seems like big competition against the marvellous Dark Knight.

Ermey's scenes are great - no question - but the film is so much more than that. You really get two films for the price of one. Plus, you get to see the development of these young kids, some of whom aren't mentally strong enough to be 'born again hard'.

Fantastic movie.

I dont think anything could stand up to the ultimate nam movie, and maybe even the ultimate war movie.

I love how you see the transformation from a scared young man to a trained killer, plus all the things Joker has seen has a huge effect on his war mentality.

People give too much flak towards the second half of the film, but I think it's just as good as the first. I don't know why some say that the action is crap, but it's some of the best I've seen. Kubrick knows just how to build up tension the right way, then make that burst of fire feel like real bullets killing someone.

I'm surprised that they're basically drawing, wait no I'm not. f*cking Dark Knight whores.

When I watched it I was like "Oh, is this what the GTAForumers were talking about? You sure I'm not watching something else?"

It was a good film, but not "amazing". The f*cking spinny camera in about 10 scenes got boring fast and looked like Nolan was just trying to make a scene more interesting, and not succeeding.

I'd say the only real standout scene was when the Joker was being interrogated by Batman.

Mcf*ckin: They are randomly matched up.

That was tremendous, yes. I think you're being a little harsh on TDK, but that's your opinion.

Toughest so far for me.

Full Metal Jacket is one of the best films Ive ever seen. I watch it quite alot.

Dark Knight is probably my favorite modern day film.

f*ck.

Im gona go for Full Metal Jacket just for the reason its given me more joy than Dark Knight because its an older film.

There isnt much else in it for me.

FMJ is good but there are better war movies, a lot better war movies. TDK is the best comic book adaption ever made in my opinion. And it's not overrated, it is that good! Just because FMJ is older doesn't make it better. And that seems to be the norm here for some reason confused.gif

Dark Knight's a great action film, but fails in comparison. Without a second thought.

Hmm, I think that older films might be regarded as better because they have stood the test of time, hence they are timeless classics that will always be significant and enjoyable. I honestly don't know how TDK will hold up in ten, twenty or thirty years. It's a great film, but I can't help but feel that Ledger's death propelled the film well beyond what it would have achieved if he were alive. To quote RocknRolla, "a rocker is worth more dead than he is alive," just substitute 'rocker' with any kind of celebrity.

While I wouldn't class Full Metal Jacket as being the defintive Vietnam movie, it is still overall a beautifully crafted film and one of Kubrick's best in my opinion. It covered subject many Vietnam films tended to shy away from, in the issue of a grunts mindset while he is in Camp (the 'moulding' process) literally days/months before he could be shipped off to war not as civillian, but as a modified human being with sole charge and intent of inflicting death on others - a good ol' fashion killing machine. It's incredibly bleak at times, but also quite powerful, and most of all a very good film.

The Dark Knight on the other hand, I saw the film three times when it was released at the local cinema and believe it is a very good film, just doesn't engage or impact upon me the same way in which films like FMJ do. I'd watch TDK over and over again for entertainment purposes, however I'd watch FMJ again and again for something more.

FMJ, no hesitation. It's a Vietnam Epic that jousts with Apocalypse Now for greatest Nam film in my opinion.

The Dark Night is a masterpiece and has an extremely strong cast but I just don't think it has the same significance or as many really lasting, iconic scenes.

TDK is great (THEY FLIPPED A f*ckING TRUCK!!!!11!!!1111!), but FMJ is leagues away. Even though this is apples & oranges, it's leagues of oranges away. I'd love to see FMJ go against Apoc, even though Apocalypse Now is better that FMJ, imo. Slamman'd a bit there, sorry.

Isn't it possible to ban one person from a section?

Classic.

The Dark Knight was good. As far as comic book adaptions go. It was over hyped and dragged on for far too long. Heath Ledger got too much credit for his role as The Joker. Give me Jack Nicholson over him anyday.

It's not really the way I see it - it's the way it is.

Pyle is born again hard, and look what it does to him. Some people don't have the mentality for war.

Edit: That's kinda the whole point, really. The effects of sending these kids into war. Why do you think they were singing the Mickey Mouse Club song?

Uh, you know when I said "I love how you see the transformation" , I didn't mean actually you. I meant the audience in general. At least what I think you're confusing me with.

But yeah, you basically said what I said, or meant.
