Honestly, why do people make their minds up so quickly about what they are and are not going to do?

To be fair, you have to be in the right mood to read a certain kind of story otherwise you're just gonna end up skimming it and then the vote would be redundant. That's the only reason I rarely vote.

Same for me, I rarely have the patience to sit down and write my own stuff, nevermind read everybody else's. And if stuff is busy for me in real life and I'm constantly knackered then I know that i'm not going to vote. That's why i'm apologising in advance.

I'm considering doing an alternate history , that would involve Rome's successful conquest of Germania during the first century AD, and the revolts and eventual success of there control in the area. I would continue it, to show that with the Germanic tribes pacified and assimilated into the Roman world, it's fall in 476 would never happen, and Rome would increase in size and influence from there on. It would conquer Caldonia (Scotland), Hiberia (Ireland) and continue conquering without the threat of migrating tribesmen well into the 5th century, leading a nearly successful invasion of Persia. However, the Hun invasion would nearly destroy the empire, and I would extend the time line onwards to show what happens after the Huns defeat, right up to about 1450, where Rome and China are the two huge superpowers on Earth, with Rome's Empire stretching from Northern and Eastern Africa, all of Europe, into Russia and Northern Europe, right across Persia and to the borders of India and Tibet, were they would clash with a Mongol ruled China.

Sound good? I'm not too sure on how I'll approach it but I'm pretty enthusiastic about it none the less.

I just released my detective/noir story "From the files of Sidney Carnes". I would like some feedback for the story, please, if you get the chance to read it. The Episodes are a lot shorter than my Western and it flows a lot better as well. So if you get around to looking at it, feedback is appreciated.

@El Zlicho- An alternative history of Roman conquest? It sounds interesting. But every megalomaniac emperor (which almost every emperor of the Empire was) and empire must end. It's been proven time and time again with leaders who try to rule the world (Napoleon, Alexander the Great, Hitler, so on and so forth). I think you could show China and Rome's fallout with each other, that would be interesting to see.

Oh, the Empire would go under serious reform. In about 800 after the Hun crisis and several serious civil wars and rebellions, the Republic would be reinstated, with the Emperor being elected in a semi-democratic fashion. This would mean less idiotic, corrupt Emperors. And a inheritance system would work also, similar to the method seen in Medieval England, with children of the Emperor given priority over some random general.

Yes, but for f*ck's sake, there are four days left, so why not just wait out the four days, see if you get round to reading them, and if not, apologise on the last day?

Saying you aren't going to bother so early is doing just that - saying I can't be f*cking arsed being involved in it.

Give them the recycling plant, no one occupies it just take it out of Pegs and give it, I don't think Maisonette 9 is a good location it belongs to Gay Tony.

Masionette 9 belongs to Gay Tony, but he is only an associate of the Ancelotti Family. Niko Bellic is an associate of the Pegorino Family but they don't own Roman's Taxi Depot or anything, do they? I'm just saying.

Right. I'm in the mood to write. All I need to do is think of a decent opening for this story, goddamn it. bored.gif

Your adventures in writing are a story in itself. I may conceive a story in which a hapless 19 year old spends many an evening asleep and then sits awake all night, drinking coffee and trying to rid his head of cobwebs as he struggles eternally to write.

Seriously though, post it out of order! Who cares if it doesn't have a beginning? You can convince us all it's intended for that! It's now in-season to tell tales out of chronological sequence.

Yeah, he's a friend that surely does have a story to tell but doesn't know how.

The thing is though, apart from my one-shot, the chapters of my stories only consist of one scene. So there's not really much to write out of order. But my storytelling style... I tell little stories within a story. So each chapter/scene can work as a standalone, but when pieced together, tell a really solid multi-chaptered story. If that makes sense?

It doesn't make any sense, because you talk about yourself actually writing things, which is unheard of!

tounge2.gif I write a paragraph almost daily, but I'm always dissatisfied with it and end up scrapping what I've written.

Just post anything Andy!? I think I speak for everyone, we don't mind what. Just something, and as perfectionist as you are, I'm sure what you think is bad isn't that bad at all, you just think it is. Is there anything at all you could post within the day? Anything?

See, you shouldn't do that. You should create a document with all of these paragraphs in, and never scrap anything you write. If you're on a roll and getting things written all the time, then scrap what you like, but when you're stuck in a rut, you need to save absolutely everything. Make a document full of these rejected paragraph ideas - really fill the pages with whatever crap you want.

Look back over it a week later, and then see what you think. Inspiration comes from all sorts of places.

Right, I've just started off my index for Criminal Tales and I've also made it so the votes go to affect the fate of the characters. I've got to wait to see if it works or gets good feedback, I'm not very good at self evaluation but if a positive response is given to the voting idea it could return in certain chapters.

It wouldn’t really be the sort of thing I would write about, as I know my limitations, but I always felt the Alien V’s Predator films left big gaps that would make interesting stories. You get tiny glimpses of the Predators home world but not that much. I always wondered how representative the predators seen in the film were of the whole species. Their level of technology would make you think that they must have scientists and engineers, who probably would have very different idiosyncrasies than the warrior hunters.

If you look at the signatures of our 2 good ol' led-bys, Craig has Supply and Phil has Demand.

Is there something coming up gentlemen? Or am I looking into this too much?

I was thinking of a GTA story set in a large city surrounded by wilderness, something like Charleston, West Virginia or Anchorage, Alaska. It'd center around either the Russian or Japanese Mob fighting various bikers and street gangs for control of the city. Not sure if it should be woodlands and mountains like in West Virginia or Subarctic climates like in Alaska.

I'm wondering what to do with Criminal Tales. I'm definitely going to make it my main project here, and it will be a huge index of stories I'll just write whenever. It'll be like my playground of criminal stories and ideas tounge.gif But I also think this would be a good idea; some of the stories take place in real world locations (New York, Detroit, London, Manchester, Beijing etc.) some in new locations and universes I come up with, and maybe even a few set in the GTA universe (the benefit here would be the action sequences could be more outlandish, as they are based on a video game series). I'd love to have that freedom to write whatever and whenever, not necessarily linked but still fun to do and to craft separate stories that maybe in the future would be linked. I wanted to know what people here would think, would you guys like it if it was GTA, real and made up cities? I think I'm going to do that, but first I wanted a little feedback on that idea.

The main problem would be it would be hard to follow, but then again, that wouldn't be too bad as the index on the first page keeps all the chapters in order and sorted via which larger tale they're a part of. As a final point, one of my upcoming storyline after Dan Summers Predicament would be revolving around a large international contract killing agency called the Legion, which would be hired by the same Mikhail Lebedev whose money was stolen by Dan Summers.

As you probably all know, I'm a f*cker for keeping things going so I'm going to be closing This Bitter Earth indefinitely so I can focus on a latest effort, Supply / Demand.

That's cool. Besides, you'll likely pick it up again in the future once you've gotten a few of your newer projects finished first.

That aside, I'm hyped for S/D. Got any spoilers or anything about it? tounge.gif

I'm going to start on a Noir story soon, split it up into chapters.

This one I want to be serious, and I want to give this some Zest, and improve my writing abilities.

I went on my writing spree with the "Sidney Carnes" series last night writing two episodes and moving into a third. So I should have four, five, and six finished by tonight. I think I'll release the rest of the episodes weekly just like a television show.

To Eminence and Masterkraft: Once again, great work with supply/demand. The story is absolutely great and I think the colors of the writing, as mentioned by some other members, is a wonderful but simple tool to market the story. Yet the story is so wonderful that you do not even need the color. But I like that you added some style with your spot-on substance. The mystery of Nazareth intrigues me and keeps me wanting to find out more about it. Enough rambling, keep up the good work.

A little update from Will...

I'm having second thoughts about 'Solomon's City', I don't have nearly as many ideas as I had for San Andreas Stories, and I've probably rushed in to it. I just can't seem to find the inspiration or motivation to get my act together and actually write it. As well as having a few exams coming up, life's been busy at the moment, so I can't see me getting it sorted anytime soon. What I need is a howitzer up my arse.

I've been reading a few books recently, and I am starting to see where my writing went wrong in the past and how it can be drastically improved. I'm seriously considering re-writing Bravo Seven Down, or maybe starting a completely new war story. That was really fun to write.

There's an idea that's been on the tip of my tongue for quite a few months now, one that I think could be easily turned in to a book. I'm thinking of taking a step towards serious writing and taking a plunge in the deep end. But that would mean that I'd have to get feedback off you individually, I couldn't openly post it, because I'll lose all publishing rights. It's a science fiction/crime flick.
