Eminence
What do you guys think of my idea? I left a few comments in a post a little higher, mate.
Osric
So, Emi, do you like the Deadliest Warrior game idea that me and Jacky are working on. It's a fun game idea and a fun alternative to another BUY game. Here's the revised rules. You create a realistic warrior from a specific era(Anywhere between 10,000 BC-2010 AD) and develop your individual storylines as well as duel other players. The warriors fall into two categories: Ancient(Before Gunpowder, Ex. Spartan) and Modern(After Gunpowder, Ex. Army Ranger), and a player can have two characters, one from each category. The template list has been excised, but you must list the warrior's era. For example, if you were a Roman Legionary, you would put 70 AD as the year your character is from in the sign-up. Each character can start off with one short-range weapon(A melee weapon, or in the case of Modern Warriors, a melee weapon or a handgun), and through stories and especially through winning duels, can earn weapons and armor. If you want a specific weapon, send a request to a judge. Duels are handled in three stories describing the beginning, middle, and end of the fight. The judges look over the best two out of three stories and determines the winner. This would be good for amateur writers who aren't quite ready for full narratives but like to write. Landstalker
Sounds like pretty basic stuff, Jacky. What separates it from anything else? What makes us empathise with these characters? You've given us a big paragraph of information, and yet you've hardly told us anything at all. What's going to happen? Landstalker. To start with your title, isn't that a bit of an obvious choice? I can see what you're going for - following on from the actual games - but that title's already been used countless times, on here, even. Nothing more unique spring to mind? What's with the constant reference to mercenaries? Is your character a gang member or what? Obviously San Andreas gets ridiculous by its end in terms of plot realism, but at the start at least it seems to keep itself focused on gritty gang life. What's your focus? The main problem, though. What's with the amnesiac twist at the end? Really? Well, if that's true, how's he going to know anything about anything you've just described? Why will he care? Yeah, he might have people coming after him, but his motivation to "get revenge" or whatever is pretty dead. He would have random flashback of his past. But, at the start, he remembers nothing and he's not wanting to take any revenge. About the mercenary thing, it is simple. He was a guy who toke contracts from anyone. From the gangs to the most rich of the state. All that to help his poor family. As for the title, I'll might chnage it. I will not say more for now. Osric
The Deadliest Warrior game needs judges, and while Jacky said he'd help set things up and organize it, he wouldn't be a judge. However, I will make the Deadliest Warrior moderator account, and I need volunteers. Emi, I would like to offer you a spot. You are a good writer. Osric
I figured that a player should have two warriors for my Deadliest Warrior game. They can be ancient or modern.
mrpain
I just had a brilliant f*cking idea. I was thinking about making a new BUYG for another game and the first game that came up in my mind was Red Dead Redemption. The BUYG can have the Red Dead Redemption gangs and maybe it will be called Build Up Your Posse. But I'm still not sure whether to make BUYP in Writers Discussion or the new RedDead.Net Forum

Deadliest Warrior
Okay, the account for Deadliest Warrior Staff members is activated. If anybody wants to be a staff member or can help with coding and rules, PM me on either this account or my main account. -Osric
General Goose
I had an idea for a story and wanted to see what y'all thought: A small, isolated Scottish island, abandoned except for one small military base, with a few researchers stationed there as well. World tensions are rising, with America and China about to launch nukes at each other any moment and the scrabbling European powers looking for any excuse to erase the competition. One stormy night, when most of the pilots are out of the base in a military exercise on the mainland, the sirens wail. Over the horizon, the dozen or so still in the base see the nuclear clouds over the horizons covering the mainland. Stranded, alone and with only each other for company, the survivors must try and survive for as long as they can. Yeah, basically post-nuclear apocalypse, bunch of survivors on stranded military base. By the way, anyone ever joined a roleplaying forum? I've just joined Survival of the Fittest (link), waiting for my account to be validated. Looks like an interesting (if slightly pessimistic) game. Osric
I've tried a few RP boards, in fact, I do believe GTAF could use a Role-Playing sub-forum for RP's, BUYG and BUYA, Deadliest Warrior, and all that. I did have an idea for an RP that would fuse Vampire: The Masquerade and GTA III, it would be kind of like BUYG, but instead of a whole faction, you are building an individual character, and you can buy not only weapons and vehicles, but also allies and powers. It would be called Liberty City By Night. Also, some of the GTA characters would be replaced. The Leone Family would be replaced with the Giovanni Family, a clan of Mafia Vampires from VTM, and their leader would be Augustus Giovanni. You could also pay money to travel to other cities including Vice City, the San Andreas Cities, Carcer City(Chicago), Capital City(Washington D.C.), London, Moscow, and Kyoto. But that would be after I get Deadliest Warrior off the ground.
Omnia sunt Communia
If I had more time and a more consistant internet connection I'd be up for setting up a role-playing game here in Writer's Discussion. Unfortunatly I don't. I like the sound of your idea though Osric, though I think it might just work better as a V:TM game set in Liberty City. Osric
Don't worry, I can set it up. Hopefully you can still be a player.
General Goose
Sounds like an interesting concept, and an RP forum would be nice. Still, I think you guys should try and give SotF a go. It's a big game, and from what I've seen it has some very talented writers and RPers. Any feedback on my nuclear war idea? I'm trying to come up with characters. Omnia sunt Communia
Any feedback on my nuclear war idea? I'm trying to come up with characters. It lacks substance at the moment. At the moment all you are saying is that there is a nuclear war and these people on this island survive (though we don't know whether they are the only ones to survive or not). We don't even know who these people are. You've said that they are military personel and researchers, and that's about it. Are they pilots, soldiers, special forces operatives or what? What do they do after the holocaust? What is forcing them to have to stay alive? If they nuclear explosions don't wipe them out, then what have they got left to worry about? It seems like a workable concept but at the moment it's nothing more than that. There's no story to it. You've got the world sorted now you just need to create a story to go in it. General Goose
Fair enough. I haven't got all the details worked out, but I've done some thought and thought up the answers to some of the questions. They're probably going to be RAF. After the holocaust, they obviously try and survive, some of them have confrontations with each others, eventually a few try to escape, and a couple begin to turn mad. Regarding why they need to fight for survival after the nuclear blasts, their main threats are starvation, drought, radiation and each other. Osric
So, Deadliest Warrior will come, eventually, once I can organize the rules and get a full staff going. Also, I might turn the Vampire: The Masquerade into an RP as well, but I am not sure if it should follow the BUY format, I'd like that, but I would not call it Build Up Your Vampire or anything like that. Ziggy455
How would we make a P&P game online? How would one do that? How would we Role-play and keep it effective enough as the very first BUYG? Hmm. Think about it. "I might have laughed if I'd have remembered how."
