skramz
BUY_! We couldn't even get past one post. Anyone read any good books lately? I've been meaning to read 'A Clockwork Orange' for ages but I just haven't gotten around too it.
mark-2007
My most favourite reads recently have been by Kurt Vonnegut. Slaughterhouse Five was a fantastic read. Really, really great. I also read God Bless you, Mr. Rosewater by him too, which was also pretty good, and I intend on getting some more of his books. I also finished To Kill A Mocking-Bird recently and that was brilliant. I usually approach such "classics" with a sense of distrust, but this one lived right up to the expectations others had heaped on it.
Oxidizer
"Classy bird," he approved, shuffling one photo under the other. "She's just a product," Kristy reminded him, warning Dean off from sampling the goods. The last thing either of them needed was traces of his semen to be found on her body. Dean looked up from studying the pictures, his intrigue suddenly piqued. "Worth what?" "Quarter of a million." I think that's my new style of writing now. It's not nearly as elaborate as it used to be but hopefully it still tells the story well. I kinda like it.
Ziggy455
I'm getting back to writing my Friday Story, 'Loosely' based on events of my life with a fictional plot as well It's a good read Lol, I'm going to remaster it, but how is everyone else with the stories? Osric
Okay, after long periods of thinking, I have finally found a narrative idea I can really get into. You know Nazi Zombies from COD: World At War? Well, think like that, but in modern terms. Communist Zombies. The idea is that it is set after BUYA's World War III, Novaya Russia and NATO are victorious. Beijing is in Russian hands, and the Chinese capital has been moved to Shanghai, and the Chinese Goverment works upon a biological weapon to create a super-soldier. However, things get out of hand and the project is abandoned. Realizing the potential power of this volatile experiment, they sell the super-soldier virus to their Zharov Party allies to unleash it in several major cities of enemy forces. The cities are as follows.... Washington D.C. London Moscow Kyoto Jerusalem Now the one thing is how to approach it. Should it have several protagonists(One in each city) whose stories intertwine or a central protagonist working for the UN/NATO? What do you guys think? Honestly, how is it? I can use BUYA ideas without having to actually restart the freakin' thing. Edited November 16, 2009 by Osric
Eminence
If I'm honest, you're thinking on far too grand a scale. Pull it all back a bit or you'll overwhelm yourself.
Oxidizer
Good grief. I've been toying with what happens in the last chapter of AM all night because it was pretty boring originally (character X meets character Y in a private room at Eight [a real private members club in London] to collect their payment inbetween a redundant conversation before X leaves Y to view the snuff video on their laptop, sampling it for the buyer who they're waiting for to show up and sell it to) and I wish I thought of this when I was writing M&P; I got the perfect full-circle ending to this overplayed snuff theme. That and I made Kristy into a proper gangster and got rid of the nightclub angle, so it should be a little fresher and a lot more realistic. (and a little , I know )

ScratchCard
I'm thinking on writing something - maybe a MW2 fanfic, obviously spoilers: of what happens after Price, Soap and Nikolai escape with the helicopter. Or otherwise something Ace Attorney related but I'm not too sure of that myself.

I always get this feeling whenever I complete a game/watch a film, annoys me when my creativity runs out before the end of the piece. I wouldn't mind writing a MW2 piece; my last "writing exercise" mirrored a MW scenario, however thats lost in the pages of WD. Wouldn't mind digging it out and having another go at it. Typhus
Creating a short, rather crude comic. Okay to post in Writers Discussion? It is actually a story but in comic book form.
Eminence
I always get this feeling whenever I complete a game/watch a film, annoys me when my creativity runs out before the end of the piece. Whilst I totally know what you mean by this, maybe you need to do a bit of soul searching. Your creativity runs out? Think about it. You're not being truly creative; you're being inspired by other things and riding their coattails to try and create your own. I think if you strayed from taking ideas from other entities and brought your own 'true' creativity to the fore, you certainly wouldn't find yourself running out of steam quite so fast. You've got it in there somewhere... find a way to bring it to the surface.

Yeah I'm doing a MW2 based thing myself. It's set right before Soap and Price kill Shepherd and it's about a small TF141 squad consisting of a soldier from each country, US, UK, AUS, and CAN. I don't know why but it seems that my best pieces of writing are always fan-fiction. I just love writing it so much for some reason

iamanevilbastard
G'day, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. I'm writing a crime story at home, on weekday nights before bed. So can you please help me out? With stuff like cliches to avoid, ways to keep it realistic and how to make the characters real/interesting? And its from the point of view of the crooks, but there are several parts told from the point of view of the police. The crooks are armed robbers and have done several murders, including a few contract killings, other activities include bodyguarding for a dope dealer and looking after said dealers crop when he goes interstate. In the most recent pages (im up to page 40 something, by the way), one character becomes romantically involved with one of the police and tart feeding the cops (in this case the armed robbery squad) dud information. But his best mate, my main character, shoots and nearly kills a senior officer, and shoots up his mates car. But the "informer" blames another faction, anyone got any ideas as to how to write an interesting gang war? If anyone's seen Underbelly, the story is in the vein of that. /getting carried away Thanks if you do have any ideas.
Vercetti21
The best way for us to help you out is to see some writing, so if you went ahead and posted a chapter I'd be happy to critique it thoroughly. For now I'll just refer you to Writer's Discussion HQ which has some pretty nifty general writing tips.
