Osric Posted August 25, 2009 Share Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Well, I was thinking, maybe I could write a GTA story outside of BUYG, since I was planning on a story arc about the Lupinsella Family, and I KNOW that unles something comes up in BoGT, the Lupinsellas won't be added to BUYG. El Zilcho, I have some things to discuss with you about BUYG. Maybe you could help me. Also, on BUYA, while Japan, Australia, and Iran are too minor of players to add. We definitely need to add the South American Communist Front and maybe a mercenary faction. I have an idea for the mercenary faction being the Trident Security Firm from your Soldier of Fortune story. As for Trident, on reflection I think the role of mercenaries in a world wart would be minimal, and as the African front is basically NATO and Zharov funded war lords, its a very indirect, proxy affair. As for the Lupinsella Family idea, it focuses on a young Sicilian immigrant named Dominic, fresh off the boat in Liberty City. Living in a ratty apartment in Bohan(I think the Lupinsellas are in Bohan, I know the Gambettis are in Broker and the Ancelottis are in Algonquin) and of course, turns to a Lupinsella associate named Vincent Puchinello. Puchinello is part of a recruitment operation and is also a gunrunner, running guns in from Italy and other parts of Europe. He may be small-time, being only an associate, but he is on the brink of being made and is the first person Dominic turns to, since they had met previously in Sicily during a stolen merchandise deal. Dominic, while young, has taken odd jobs as a smuggler for various families in Sicily(In this case, the Leones, Sindaccos, and Forellis from III, only based in Sicily rather than Liberty City). Working for Puchinello, Dominic meets various people across the city and ends up having to work for them, mainly to expand Lupinsella influence outside the Commission and bring down the biggest threat to Mafia control: the Russian Bratva and Triads(This is why the Triads and Bratva are allies in my new BUYG stories). As he makes his way to the top, Dominic must not only fight for the family, but also unravel the truth about a corrupt senator's ties to Kenny Petrovic, as well as gain the trust of the wealthy MacPherson family(based off of the Kennedys). A Lupinsella-MacPherson alliance could make the Mafia more powerful than ever and recover from Jon Gravelli's death. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

On the Road by Jack Kerouac, Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, and I'm currently in the middle of Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. On the Road was alright. It had it's ups and downs and it took me a while to put a finger on why, to my eyes, there was such a difference. I think it may be down to me disliking Dean Moriarty as a character, he rambles too much and his influence on the main character, Sal Paradise, makes the story drag in ongoing "philosophical" rants. The best bits of the story were when Sal found himself alone, such as making his way to Denver for the first time and staying with Remi Bonceour in San Francisco. Metamorphosis was quite an odd one. A tale about a man who wakes to find himself transformed into a large insect. An original idea, to say the least. Some of it was pretty good, though I'm still kinda undecided. It portrayed the changing of the family's attitude towards his new insect state well. Nineteen Eight-Four, whilst I still have just under one hundred pages left to read of it, is excellent. My favourite of the three. I'm quite a fan of dystopian novels such as this and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, although Orwell's story is far better. The only bit that did drag was when Winston read from the book by Goldstein although even that was very interesting and necessary to the story progression. Can anyone suggest any books to me? I'm most interested in whatever's well-regarded as I wanna see if reading lots is gonna help me write a bit more. Still got that idea about the notes being exchanged via library books. I wonder if anyone else has any story ideas, be it GTA, original, BUYG, or BUYA. Hell, even BUYS sounds good. As for BUYA, I've joined China and plan on intertwining it with a new Novaya Russia story arc focusing on Mei Wong and Andrei Androssov, two soldiers whose fates become tied to each other's survival. Moved on to Catcher in the Rye now and have To Kill A Mockingbird to read as well. Got a few more ideas for my library notes story, and need some working title for it too. Also, not to be a dick, but can't all the small messages concerning BUYG/S/A/whatever go in their respective topics or just over PM as it clogs this topic up and drowns peoples' ideas and so they can't get good feedback on it. I concur, these things can just as easily be said in their respective topics. I recently finished Animal Farm by George Orwell, which, along with 1984 (also by Orwell) and Brave New World (by Adolous Huxley) has inspired me to write something concerning a dystopic future. I was thinking of the idea of a possible future where World War III is fought over clean drinking water after mass pollution threatens the very existance of humanity. The other idea I've come up with is an alternate history where World War II is won by the Germans instead of the Allies. This would lead to a totalilarian world power which is led by Adolf Hitler (who becomes a larger than life figure much like Big Brother). His victory would be partly due to strange, alien technology, which he somehow manages to obtain. El Zilcho Posted September 1, 2009 Share Posted September 1, 2009 I'm thinking of an alternate history piece based on where Germany wins WWII, occupying all of Europe from Britain and Ireland all the way to Urals, where a weakened Russian army (remnants of the defeated Red Army who didn't surrender and the Partisans) commanded by Zhukov. The US is coming apart, with huge economic strife following the end of the war in 1945. The Cold War between the two nations however does intensify, and I'm planning on a little espionage tale with two agents counter acting each other and hunting each other down across America, both from Germany, but one is an SS agent with an unwavering devotion to the Reich, and the other is a Brandenburg paratrooper who is seriously considering defecting to the US and handing over several important nuclear missile plans, which would revolutionize the floundering American defense technology. I really hope it can get me back into writing, as I've already got the basic outline for the back story regarding the alternate WWII timeline already developed. The story itself will be set in 1961. But they'll probably be best suited in a New York setting or something, and it'll fo' sho' be about or have Triad links. Their names are Christina Lopez, Damani King and Feng Li; I'm not sure about Damani's character, but Christina will have inherited her daddy's drug empire and Feng a Triad leader of some kind. I'm thinking Damani could either be Christina's very personal bodyguard , or Feng's (with the sexual component of their business relationship omitted ). Otherwise you're just going to end up being one of those members who come in here to tell us about their ideas and never actually does any writing... Oh wait! Also, is it truly necessary for people to announce their schedules to everyone? If you can't write because of school or any other prior engagement that's fine but I really, really, really, really don't think anybody in here cares if you're going to be at school or dancing with the King of the Moon to celebrate his 145th birthday.
