I checked it out, Vic... not my thing personally. I'm not into all the maps and tracklists myself. But, keep on trucking.

I am about to post the conclusion to my new Claude story... it brings things to a head a bit, I think it's a good way to end it. Definitely tell me everything you hate or like about it if you want to. And I will say that WAY too much Xanax was involved in the writing of most of it, but I'm not going to edit it too much away from that... the characters themselves are f*cked up on peyote and speed the whole time anyway, biggrin.gif . It'll be up shortly.

Like I said in the story topic, I find it brilliant in it's own unique ways. I can't wait to see how it ends, man.

I might get up an entry for this month's SSOTM. I think it's a pretty unique idea because the impulse isn't your ordinary sort of think you'd think of. But remember, I only might get it up.

Chunk realizes he has said "get it up" numerous times in the last part of this post and awaits Andy to enter and see..

Vic, I looked over some of your story seems interesting I'll read the rest of it probably later tonight.

I decided to keep going my usual route with my Western. I was going to do a new noir literary experience but I put that on the back burner. I like the way my Western's going and I would rather pursue that instead. Episode 3: A Savage Life is in the works right now. I encourage all of you in the Club to read my story "Untitled: A Western" and give me some feedback on the thread. I am trying to shorten the episodes but I keep getting so involved with my writing that I do not know where to end.

I had a somewhat random idea for a story just now:

The tale is about a detective (or some other profession) living in 18th Century London. He grew up around the time Jack The Ripper was at large and eventually begins an affair with Mina Harker (the sole survivor of Dracula's murderous rampage). During a lovemaking session she turns him into a vampire and bestows upon him the gift of enternal life.

It would follow the detective (named Mortimer Crane) through his life as he faces off against various characters from English history, folklore and literature. The first such monster I was thinking of including was Spring-Heeled Jack.

Think of it sort of as The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen meets Sherlock Holmes meets Blade.

Is there a thing such as spontaneous originality? I dunno, maybe it's impossible to come up with a completely new idea. We all seem to write stuff that have inspired us before, even when we don't realisee it.

Most of my stuff is pretty original. There's a lot of fan fics out there, but a lot of stuff that people write on here isn't.

As for the clutter of fan fics, it is troublesome to a point. However, people can be original even in that spectrum... my last little series had Claude from GTA in it and mentioned GTA cities, but beyond that... it's very abstract and bears little semblance to any sort of GTA story.

People should spread their wings and think outside of the box more than they do though... I read a fan fic on here that was GTA but it was actually well written so it wasn't that bad despite being your more run of the mill thing.

You got to realize... you can write anything. Anything... we're all influenced by what we've consumed, there is no way around that, it's conditioning... but originality doesn't have to be sacrificed for that.

If you were the only single person on the planet... maybe so. Otherwise, a similar idea has invariable been thought of by another, though that shouldn't deter you from anything.

No, but if it warrants enough attention and generates enough interest it will get read. Patience is the key in this section.

That was about Claude as in Claude?! That's that settled then: I'm re-reading it and catching up on the remaining chapters!

That should be turned into a TV mini series. Seriously. If you feel the urge to write this one, I'd follow it in a heartbeat. icon14.gif

There is, I get struck by it often. Apart from one of my works in progresses, all of mine are completely different from the usual snuff movie plot I tend to write about. Only thing is, I've failed to actually execute my ideas since September, 2008. tounge.gif

Chunk realizes he has said "get it up" numerous times in the last part of this post and awaits Andy to enter and see..

That's given me an intriguing idea, one that I would be interested in testing someday; if someone poked an erect penis, would said penis shyly revert and then slowly re-erect itself, like when you poke a snail's eyeball? It's thought-provoking stuff.

I'm interested in making a Terminator story, involving the usual back in time to kill plot, but I'm not getting anywhere with it. I want it to be well written, but I don't know what the target will be, and why. I don't want it to be totally related to the films; so no John Connor. Any ideas? I was considering a contract killing agency, that utilizes time travel and robots to complete hits! I know it's crazy, but it is indeed unique.

Thank you Andy. I'm debating over whether to keep the story in Victorian England or whether to branch it out to include various locations during the 20th and 21st Centry. Mortimer is immortal so he will live on throughout the years. That means one story could take place in 19th Centry England while the next could take place in Mexico during the 1960s.

Seriously, as brilliant and abstract as your piece was, I feel like expanding upon that premise, but as already mentioned, I'm a little lost on how exactly to do so.

I really wanna write the last chapter of Bad Company (about al-Qaeda operatives), but it just won't have the same impact without the other three chapters. In fact, it'd be harder to write as a one-shot as I'd have to cram in a lot of character history, not to mention that the main character has been axed at that point and it's mostly a 'wrap-up' instalment. confused.gif

Just write it Andy. If it gets you started then what harm can it do? Write the last chapter first then go back and do the first two. You can always go back to chapter three and make sure it fits in with the first two.

As for me, I'm thinking of redoing mine and Chunk's failed Majestic City as a solo project. This version of the story will be completely indistinguishable from the original with new characters, gangs, locations and names.

It's a four-chaptered little series and the first instalment, despite having the most solid dialogue and introductions, is the boringest from a writer's perspective. tounge2.gif That and I'm one of those (would you believe it!) people who have to write their stuff in order of appearance. No wonder I don't get sh*t done.

But I'm optimistic and intrigued by Majest City becoming a solo project and it being re-imagined. Very intrigued, in fact. ph34r.gif

Yeah, I was kidding--I get what you meant. I think the Terminator idea is brilliantly simple, which is why I was prompted to write that after watching the original a bit back. I don't think I quite intended that level of abstraction, which is usually the case, but it went there. lol.

I'm sure you could procude something straight, something badass.

I spent some time with Andy on MSN brainstorming ideas for my revamp of Majestic City. This is what I've got so far:

  • You play as an English born Indian who has spent the last three years in India after taking the fall for his brother's crime back in Majestic City (name subject to change). He returns to Majestic City and gets involved in his family's violent gang war with the Pakistani street gangs.

Your gang is led by your older brother while you and your younger brother make up the rest of the gang (not to mention hired muscle and enforcers). Your oldest brother, however, does not want to be apart of the criminal world and dislikes his brothers for it.

The beginning of the story would focus on your family's war with the Pakistani gang while meeting a few people along the way. After a while though your brother would start to ache for bigger and better things. He devises a plan that would put them on easy streak if pulled off properly:

He wants to steal a vanload of blank passports from the government and sell them on the black market; fetching you a cool £2.5 million. You, your older and younger brother both go through with the plan but during the ensuing police chase your younger brother is killed.

You return to your family home where your oldest brother proceeds to beat up your older brother for his involvement in your brother's death. He kicks you out of the house and you're forced to live in a sh*tty motel for a while.

You begin doing jobs for people in order to earn some money while your older brother tries to find a buyer for the passport. He finds one in the form of the Russian Mafia. He manages to convince them to send him the money in advance and arranges a date to drop-off the passports to them.

However, before you can deliver the goods, another gang steals the passports off of you. You're then forced with finding the passports before the Russian mob find out and kill you.

That's all I've got so far. Thoughts? Feedback?

Now now chickadees, keep it clean, keep it cool. Like an otter in a swimming pool.

SSOTM's end is drawing to a close for another month, I hope to see at least a couple of last minute entries. Need I remind you all to PM me all entries even if you have done already just so I can keep track easily. Obviously, I don't expect all entrants to see this but it would be a great help. I have an entry myself planned, and I've deliberately left it very late as a change of tactic. Let's hope I can get it up in time.

I can't be bothered to enter. The mix of laziness and focusing on UBB has left me sitting here like a slug.

In other news about UBB, I'm finally going to begin to write some segments for it after much planning and hopefully have it up by the end of the week.

I'm trying to stop that, I really am. It's just so frustrating. I mean, I've been writing random little segments just to get me out of habit of tossing whatever I'm working on aside and doing f*ck all about it. I've told you that this is annoying me before Phil, you know that. I just hope I can get it up just to giving myself a feeling of knowing that I've got something up.
