i change the head size a litle bit...maybe still look too small... because im using body proportion like in re4...they are taller and has smaller head than character in gta..but i like this style..

So, finished my head retopology. Still needs a lot of work in the texture.

I'm pretty much proud what i have been done lately. Even though it's not looking good like what pro modelers did, still proud it.

Gonna practice more and more.

 

Oh, can't go much into super detailed model, since my laptop lagging so hard even with 5 subdivision level.

Gonna back to my PC and upgrade it, i think.

NEVER render something with normal maps, always use a viewport shader for that.

 

I honestly can barely see a normal map going on on the lowpoly to be honest, try using xoliuls viewport shader :3

Fack that's awesome, you nailed the head. It takes me years to get my heads to look right.

 

And what are you using? Mudbox or Zbrush? Since I used to use mudbox and my stuff lagged as well with 5-6 subdivisions, but now with zbrush I can take it up to 7-8.

Mudbox is really lack of feature, even you can't duplicate an object. But the UI is definitely awesome, no need hours to get to know it.

Switching to zbrush is going to save your time. UI isn't really hard to learn, you don't need all those things, all you need is to know subtools (/w extract option), layers, geometry, preview, deformation, texture map and spotlight. Everything else can be done with 3ds max, you can easily learn all that by watching some timelapses - it's pretty damn simple. Plus using xNormal makes stuff easier 7498476 times.

 

Mudbox is slow, lacks brushes, features, materials and it's pretty brain killing to watch at gray UI. Switch to Zbrush noa! Besides knowing both doesn't hurt.

The only thing I hate about ZBrush is that it creates too many Polys, like, I had a crow, and I wanted to create some wings and stuff onto it, and when I created one wing, it created a + of 10000 Polys.

You're not supposed to use the actual models from ZBrush for anything other than baking.

If you hate Zbrush because of that, you're going to hate every sculpting program, because it supposed to do that.

Remake the topology of the sculpted model, bake the detail from the sculpted model and applied it to the new model.

That's how you supposed to do it.

My sculpted head model have, like, 1 million polys. And the one you see above, is the retopology of it and have 1200 Polys, with normal map and ao maps baked from the sculpted one.

I Was up all night coming up with a idea for a character, drew him out then decided to get to work on the model and textures... i'm trying to make it game Quality please leave some feed back

I think it is good for a 1st person game like Skyrim since this is going to be converted to both GTA IV and Skyrim.
