[TUT]How to align the police roof lights

This is a short tutorial on how to get your flashing roof light's on the police cars in Gta San Andreas to line up with the roof lightbars on any cars that you may make or mod, instead of having them 2ft above or below the roof lol..

 

First off is i am doing this in zmodeler2 so for those who use 3ds max i dont know how you would go about it because i'm crap with 3ds max but it is just about moving a single dummy so it should be the same or similar.....

 

I am going to use the daf fire engine by KvH-DeSiGn and JVT converted by ryder35 as an example because this has a really bad placement of the particle rooflights in San andreas here is a pic of it in game:

as you can see in the picture the flashing lights are inside of the firetruk cab, the way to adjust them is as follows:

As you can see below they now line up with the roof lightbar, this will work on all policecars/ambulance/bike/fbi, if you want you can have the fbi light on your roof instead of on the dash.

This method is also used for lining up:

Gun fire positions on the Hunter and Seasparrow.

Deck position of the standing Police Officer on the Predator police boat, be aware that it effects the plane that hides water inside boats.

Moves the plane that is used for hiding water in all boat interiors.

Helicopter main rotor collision position.

Smoke position on Stunt plane.

Probably a few others I have forgotten about.

 

I find it easier to open the model of the vehicle you are replacing and extract the chassis model itself, then rename this as something not being used by your new vehicle before saving. If you don't rename it will overwrite you own part in the next step.

Then merge into your new vehicle project.

Keep separate and select this at the same time as the main dff node, this makes it easier to line the parts up when moving the dummy around.

Then delete the unused merged chassis when you are done.

Just guessing: scissor doors can be done the same way, but instead of moving the pivots of the door dummy's, you rotate them?
