"Intrigued, I ask Barrera about Grand Theft Auto IV's episodic content. Why can't Rockstar use GTA as a platform, I ask. Why bother coming up with another GTA for this generation of consoles, couldn't the developer just create episodes for the game and live off that? But $50 million deals don't happen time and time again. For the 50 millionth time: it stands to reason that the most-lucrative exclusive deal in the history of DLC is going to last longer than a run-of-the-meal deal with an unreported sum of money behind it and a 6-month window. There isn't a deal in all of video games that can be cited as a precedent for this deal and the PS3 fans need to accept that. Yes thats true BUT Gta is also alot more popular than any of the others. Everybody knew IV would sell well. An exclusive deal would be a console decider for alot of people (the amount of money was always going to convince people it really was only going to be on the 360) , on top of the money they would get back through the sale of the "exclusive" dlc. Think about it. Even if it is timed, doing what M$ did, helped M$ didnt it. and they knew it would. anyway I completely understand where you're comming from too but we'll all have to just wait and see. Again, they've already made their money on the first two DLC's, so if it turns out that it's not financially worth it to make any more after the two xbox ones then they may decide not to bother with any further ones, but they won't have to release it on other platforms to make it worth their while. If anyone is at risk financially from these it's microsoft. But as you've already said they may have covered any losses from the DLC in console sales anyway. R* won't be worried about DLC sales at all, just curious to see if it's worth their while making any more when it's their own cash they have to use. Sony isn't included in the deal in any way (at this time, it could change later), and both Take-Two and Rockstar have mentioned countless times that they don't respond to rumors. Only connection I've made, is that the "DLC exclusivity is timed" rumor is just that: a rumor. And if you're quoting him, while he's asking you to "make the connection," and you say that he's just guessing, then you're essentially admitting that you're "just guessing" as well. Nice move there. This means that the add-on will be released on August 20th 2009. So everyone get ready because it will come sooner rather than later! All we know is that $50mill had something to do two episodes (25 mill each), no-one (afaik) knows the details and if you can prove me wrong there I'll happily accept it. edit No-one can listen to a thing M$ says on the matter because if it is with-in the possibly agreed time, it is in fact exclusive (and especially if they payed for it )they arent going to say any different. It has all but been confirmed. TLAD, on the other hand, is an Xbox 360 exclusive, as Microsoft confirmed when these new rumors started. Once again: Bogus or not bogus?: ...issued a blunt but unequivocal statement about the prospect of a PS3 Lost and Damned. "The [GTAIV] episodes are exclusive to Xbox 360," a rep told GameSpot, officially ruling out any chance of a port. John the Revelator Posted May 24, 2009 Share Posted May 24, 2009 I'm not a fanboy - I can say this confidently because I think the PS3 and 360 are just as good as each other (even though we all know the Wii is the f*cking king no matter which way you spin it). I just think the PS3 is absolutely useless until game makers utilize BluRay technology more fully - which they DON'T right now. When I play GTA IV on PS3 and then on 360, I can't tell even a teensy itty bitty little tiny small minute difference in any form. They look exactly the same. As for TLAD coming out for the PS3, it isn't going to happen. If you understand ANYTHING about how business works, then you'll realize without even thinking about it for more than five seconds that Microsoft wouldn't be paying Rockstar fifty million dollars for a six month exclusive contract - and if they did, they'll just pay them another fifty million for six more months ad infinity.
