you're 16. I would take any sort of income you could get your hands on. Just cause you work it now doesnt mean you'll be there forever.

Minimum wage, what ever that may be.

If you don't have a minimum wage where you live, then I'd say ~$6-8 USD/hour.

It's f*cking Wendy's.

I just got a job, too. Started working with my dad, so it's under the table, but still I'm getting paid. He runs a car detaling business on weekends and I help out. On a good day I'll make like sixty bucks, so it's pretty cool.

An answer to your question: minimum wage. Whatever that is depends on where you live.

What does Wendys do? Make burgers and such? Then thats what I'm guessing you'll be doing, either out back flipping pattys, up front taking orders or out cleaning up the restaurant.

Getting yur first job is difficult. If you can get hired, do it. Then concentrate on doing well, if you can get a promotion, it will serve you well in the future. After 6-12 months, you should be able to get into a more lucrative position. Protip; next employer will be looking for advancement in wage/title to judge your capabilitiy.

The food industry blows. You want mindless labor, get into construction/landscaping.

Also, employers love college students. Lie, when your in that age bracket, if your too foolish to actually go.

My area is so f*cked up that I know 30-40 year olds gunning for jobs at Wendy's, so you might take my advice with a grain of salt...

Take the f*cking job, save the money, and wait for them to fire you. Because they will fire you. Unless you don't live in the U.S., you'll be fired because of child-labor law restrictions, and fast-food jobs don't really carry a lot of job security anyway. If child-labor laws aren't a matter, you might be able to get on to a manager spot, but that doesn't mean more money. No, it means the same pay rate, but more hours. As a basic employee, don't even expect full-time.

Expected Job Duties

Line Cook

You just take food, and put it together, with amounts and order as designated by laminated instructional guides posted above the line. This is universal to almost any kind of fast food place.

Cashier

You'll take the order, take the payment, and handle complaints, etc. In most restaurants, you'll do this while working on the line, but in pizza shops, you generally have call-in orders that require you stay on the telephone near a computer to complete.

Dish Washer

You'll do this, don't even expect not to. I would start getting acclimated to scolding hot water as quickly as possible, because it's pretty much the only thing that will get the sh*t off. Count on this being your one last duty, Saturday night, when you want to go home and everyone else is off shift.

Window Washer

This one is a once every two weeks sort of deal, but basically you're just going to be washing windows. There's no catch with this, it's just annoying stopping and waiting for customers to enter and exit.

I don't think Wendys will do this, but pizza shops love to make you take a sign, and stand on the corner with it to attract attention. Often times they'll insist that you dance or wave. The good news is you can usually opt for this and get off before you have to wash dishes.

Anyway, that's generally what to expect from any fast-food job. Pizza shops also have the delivery driver, but I won't get into that horrible tail of sh*ttiness because it's pretty self-explanatory, but I will say this. When you live in a city with a corresponding Avenue to every Street, such as 7th St. and 7th Ave., you damn sure better get that distinction before you go out for your run.

QUOTE (K^2) ...not only is it legal for you to go around with a concealed penis, it requires absolutely no registration!

You'll probably be in the back making the food and such, from what I've seen at my Wendy's girls are always working up front as cashiers.

Well, I don't know how things are in the US of A but over here working at a fastfood joint (McDonalds) is a well paid job (almost nince euros an hour... that's 12/13 dollars if I'm not mistaken), especially for 'youngsters/students'.

On top of that, it's a pretty fun job to. Cashier is rather boring sometimes (when there aren't any customers... you have to clean the place, refill stuff, take the trash out...) but it can be stressful and also extremely busy (when you're almost the only one taking orders and delivering them... most of the times you need to be able to think of three orders that have to be 'delivered' and also serve other people at the same time!).

Haven't worked in the kitchen (flipping burgers and such) but I've noticed that is most enjoyable part. Trying to get 'position' this summer.. but I doubt that they will let me do it.

Just do it... people who look down on jobs have never done any jobs like that (or are just elitist pigs). I mean: you have to learn one way or another that you have to work for your money... work HARD. Working in a fastfood joint isn't that hard (although you will think from time to time, especially as cashier, that it sucks big time).

But believe me, working in a grocery store is even worse (well, atleast in Holland/Belgium it does!).

I worked in a grocery store once. I liked it, except for the odd one or two douchebags who went all PMS on me. But, then again, I didn't work so much, I mostly joked around with my buddies and we played in the stock room.

Well my experience wasn't that pleasant... you HAD to finish a whole container of stuff in about an hour of time (and most of the times those products in the container didn't belong in one specific part of the store, but ALL scattered over the store).

Pay was bad... not alot of social people. I found it terrible (but than again: this is the other side of the big puddle).

Aren't you the same guy that made the other 2 previous Topics about this? Then you make another Topic with technically the same question and ame answers? If you are, just get the damn job and start working! No need to ask someone over the internet, do what you WANT to do, not what's best payed but a sh*ty job, but in this ocassion, its neither.

do what you WANT to do

This applies only if you understand that even your dreamjob has tasks or things you'll find less attractive. Take for example being a porn star, it'd be great fun and all, downside would be having to clean the blood and sh*t off your dick all the time.

Or the respectable profession of pirate! Sounds like a hoot and a holler in a whorehouse, but when push comes to shove you'll sometimes lose and get picked up by Russians who are then going to try and put you on trial in, I sh*t you not, pirate-court.

This is all a moot point anyways, because he's 16, and it's just a job on the side. So do whatever the hell you like.

I had no time pressure, it took us 2-3 hours to get on stack of stuff unpacked. And we were three guys doing it. Haha. Worst part was when I had to stack 6 packs of 4x8 boxes orange juice on the top shelf.

I got terminated for going thru the drive thru, and I don't mean with a car. (after hours I crawled thru the window).... They weren't gonna let that slide. It was bogus, only did it once that I remember

I have a Wendy's down the street, further still a McDonalds.. and another Wendy's the other direction from me, while, down that street is a Burger King. More then any other, those three are in just about every town! We also have Kentucky Fried Chicken. Yeah, I frequent them, but I wouldn't work them anymore.

I saw a customer go ballistic over their order more then once!

Wendy means licking the floors until they're clean - Cleaning the toilets with naked hands - And picking up the chewing gums that's under the tables.

That's the most lovely parts.. inlove.gif

Low pay and sh*tty customers. But if you're not intending to stay there forever, it's experience with the public that will be attained and put into practise later at a better job. icon14.gif

major underscore

Don't expect your first employment to be great. It's just a step you have to take that will make it easier to get employed the next time, assuming that you don't screw up bigtime. Employers like to employ people who have been employed by someone else already because then they know you're not a complete screw-up.

Why dont you apply for the job, ask some questions at the interview and if it reaches your expectations then either take it or leave it?

Have you tried looking anywhere else or did you automatically think that was your only option.

Look online for jobs in your area then go there and say you will do it for less then the rest. I managed to secure a waiter postition, £7 an hour + tips.
