WSAD + Arrows works great for me Well, there's no mouse actions involved in your setup, so you can't prove me wrong. This is part of the requirements for the platform. Not only that but it is a matter of personal preference what you use for input. Bear in mind that the PC version does have some other advantages over console versions, such as 32player mp, better resolutions and modding so it is not like they are the same game, their are other reasons than mouse+keyboard to choose the PC version. This is more a complaint that the mouse does not function correctly (See the recoil hints in the game previously mentioned). Thread is valid complaint, end the flaming on both sides. Got my 360 controller yesterday and I forgot how much easier it is to drive with it! Also I can fly the damn helicopter again. I think thats probably the one thing that annoys me the most. All this swapping around business. If you want to win online you got to keep swapping around all the time to get the best advantage for the given situation for that controller. I accept that a mouse user can free aim better then the joystick user because the mouse has a big area of movment making fine adjustments easy.. But then they go and give them no recoil on top? Ok neat. but what is the main feature people like the most about pc games? is Keyboard/mouse it's not the code that causes the issue. it's the poor aim of a console controller. it's junk. console gamers play with 4 thumbs pc gamers have no thumbs. but we have 36 fingers ;-) Evolve or die man. I was referring to K&M as one unit; as in, you can't play it with the mouse + keyboard, controller is the only way(IMO). Still horrid controls though. I dunno... gamepad controllers in my opinion are only good for games like Tekken... and I'm not sure if Tekken actually came out on the PC. I wasn't paying that much attention. I could never use gamepad controllers very well for some reason... maybe I've just been using the mouse on PC for to long; and other control methods seem so alien. However flying helicopters in Battlefield 2 with the mouse on PC was my preferred method... there were some people who played that game and piloted the helicopters with a gamepad or joystick... I could never use a gamepad or joystick to pilot choppers in BF2... that's prolly why my gamepad is gathering dust somewhere. I would like the choppers in GTA 4 to have the same mouse controls as BF2 did though... but I guess that might be a bit much to ask And the only real problem I ever had with R* Torronto was when they used securom for copy protection; but apart from that, they seem to be supporting GTA 4 a lot more than other devs support their games... eg Ubisoft The camera angles for the chopper in GTA 4 are a bit of a problem too... same as when I'm driving... they take too long to center. Yeah but takes as much skill as stirring a cup of coffee. I like to have to tap the fire button to control recoil. Or crouch to improve accuracy. Or not move for more accuracy as opposed to side stepping like the square dancing moron this game requires you to be. Recoil has added to the fun of games since it was put in in the first place. How can you people not see this? I've been playing GTA IV for three days now and I always wondered why I could shoot a guy in the face with a uzi standing 200m away oO. Actually I should have had a better chance hitting him by throwing the gun than by shooting lol Even if I don't play multiplayer in this game at all, I would SO LOVE having recoil put in! Having to choose a wepaon for every specific situation is just so much more fun than just picking the fastest one giving people a million headshots per second. Maybe you gamepad users should submit a complaint or something to R* and tell them you want no weapon recoil on the gamepad. Or complain to Microsoft or Sony and tell them you want a mouse and keyboard to go with your console, dunno... and dun care really, I like the laser aim for PC, and I use PC... not console... so take it up with the right people. Tell someone that gives a f*ck. And it's prolly not gunna be me, Microsoft, Sony, or R*. But have fun blowing off steam... One of my GTA 4 complaints has been that it is too easy to just headshot everybody. Jesus, even with 'blind' fire I can just headshot my enemies and not put myself in any real danger. Please tell me blind fire is not supposed to be that cheesy. Jeez man, now that I know about recoil I wish I could get it with my mouse aim. Maybe the game would actually be challenging then. And it should be cause your not looking where your shooting. But yes on the mouse its just the same as aiming out of cover. Dhatz Posted May 12, 2009 Share Posted May 12, 2009 then report these in the 1.0.4 wishlist, but if you think about why the made controller inacurate, it's because you can't aim that precisely with it and therefore it's more effective to shoot with spread and shoot more bullets. the camera with heli and car could only get worse after SA, because SA had perfect camera and R* don't keep a thing. one thing: you control niko's aim, not where he thinks he's aiming, it should be the imperfect firing pose that would cause blindfire inaccuracy. Also, note that the topic at hand doesn't reveal much. We only know that there is one bug more in GTAIV for PC (full credit to Co6alt of course) and that's basically it. We also know that gamepad users have one more disadvantage in comparison with them PC-laser-aim-giving-getting-a-headshot-each-and-every-time-no-matter-what's-my-skill-level-so-they-must-be cheaters and hackers. So what? Had not Co6alt started his insults and unsubstantiated claims spree, this topic would have died long ago. And this is why I said I can't believe this subject is still open. The mouse+keyboard vs. controller has nothing to do with why I don't play online, and I think most of the players would agree that this has nothing to do with why they don't play online. It's all the cheaters and hackers that caused me to stop playing. I'm sure CC will come on here and say I'm whining about something he doesn't give f*ck about cause he "only plays on ranked racing servers and theres not much cheating". Well I have checked the ranked servers several times only to find them completely empty. My conclusion is that all the cheaters/modders have gotten scared of getting tagged as a cheater in a ranked server, and possibly getting their gamertag banned, and have moved to the unranked servers. Maybe now that he has NO ranked servers to play on CC will undertand the affect these bastards are having on the MP part of this game and start to "give a f*ck"! To claim that the servers are empty because of this mouse+keyboard vs. controller issue that just came up, and no one noticed for 6 months, is a serious stretch. Maybe the reason no one noticed this till now, is because they havn't been able to stay in a server long enough (without it being crashed by some sackless cheating/modding dimwit) to notice!
