GTA Servers. It would be the best way.

GfW Live is crap. And GTA IV proved it.

as i've said before steam has a proper anti-cheat system. GFWL provides online services for GTA IV. it is their job to provide anti-cheat. and since Microsoft didn't do that. R* had to do it themselves. that is one of many reasons why steam is better.

Nietzsche's God

I am willing to pay money if R* come up with their own GTA servers. I rather have the maker of the game running their own servers since they are the one that are accountable to their creation; and I am sure they would be more dedicated in improving MP to the fullest than other 3rd party providers who are probably too busy monitoring all other games due to lack of, I suppose, manpower for to fix or to improve GTA 4 MP alone.

I know this is kinda offtopic, but it would be great that they give us our own exclusive dlc with new dedicated Rockstar servers in one single package.

Perhaps an expansion pack for us pc gamers. inlove.gif

Never heard of Steam. Will have a read up about it after this. R* should have their own dedicated servers for smoother connections and lesser cheaters etc

You never heard of Steam? Really? Ummmmm... OK.

I voted for R* setting up their own servers. It's time they got in on it. GFWL sucks donkey balls! Steam works very well but why pay for it if you don't have to? Besides, once you get the technology down you can use it for the other games that you are developing and not have to pay that third party. EA has been doing it with their games for years now and Steam just seems to be predicting the future with how they do it.

Come on R*, step up and invest in that technology! Everybody knows you have the money!

I voted for GTA specific. Only because disabling GFWL using xliveless gives me a noticable performance boost - it really does... I personally will used anything as long as it isnt a flabby resource hog. Unfortunately MS products typically are sad.gif.

R* should continue to use GfW Live for achievements only but not for MP.

Who knows? tounge.gif

And actually those points are pretty useful, right? For other PC games' DLC like Fallout3 or the others.

Achievements are like game progress. It's shows what you completed in the game already.Though not in percent, but in little awards.Nowadays every bigger progress is linked to an achievement,so you can say they show your progress in a game.

Look at the story achievements, they all represent a vital part of the story:

Off the boat-First mission complete

Lowest point-Your get chased away, you begin a new life in a new part of the city

Fed the fish-You kill Vlad, and new boss and one of the main antagonists will be introduced after it

Impossible trinity-Possibly all of the main characters in one place(Niko,Johnny,Louise(there is a rumor that he will be the protagonist in the third DLC)

Gracefully taken-After the Gracie missions you wont see one of your main employers anymore

You Won-You completed the game

It's like the % bar it just rewards you with a little icon if you complete something that has more of an importance.

Though i'm not sure what the gamerscore is for....can you buy stuff with it?

I know and it sucks. At least for me. Which proper PC title has achievements? None of which I have played.

IMO it's just one of their lame attempts to convert us all into console gamers and I won't have it.

I don't f****ng care about achievements.I don't care if a game has this feature if it's a good game, and runs good on my computer,if it's optimized well.Even if achievements wouldn't have made it in the game,it would still be a broken port. This is not about this feature that tracks your progress it's about making games on consoles, for the consoles, the PC being an afterthought.

Me neither, dude, that's why i don't give a flying f**k about it.How is this an attempt? They couldn't convert us by giving the X exclusive games,so now they are bringing this to the PC.I consider this a win, that backfired a bit. whatsthat.gif

How is this an attempt?

It's a small step for mankind, but a giant leap for assholes at MS.

Small things like this make up a subtle brainwashing strategy. Yesterday it was the GFW(L) ugly, ugly brand on the PC game covers;, today it's the achievements and the xbox gamepad images at every turn, shared xbox and GFWL accounts, notions of "being available on blah blah console computer system" (LOL) on PC game cases. God (or the devil himself) only knows what tomorrow will bring.

Unholy ordeal, I tells ya.

Yes for sure.

For example the TLAD can be bought by 1600 Microsoft Points (1600 Gamerscore).

I believe he was speaking of the PC version. Why would you buy TLAD with PC points if you play (GTAIV) only on PC?

And what actually needs to be done in-game to get 1600 gamer points?

Another example: DLC for Fallout3 (yes, the PC version has it too)

To get the gamerpoints, get the achievement first.

For ex.

Off the Boat- You get 5 G

Sorry for the noobish question,

is there a 3rd party p2p game that currently uses the VAC system?

.

.

And on other news, people that care about achievements should definitely an hero.

Gamerscore and MS points are 2 different things, all the gamerscore is for is bragging rights bs, you want MS points they are 800 for ten bucks.

I don't really care what browser or friend system it uses, as long as theres a freaking dedicated server.

Dedicated servers /w admins always has and always will be the best cheat protection. Would extend the life of the game x10.
