NEW GFWL Update Fix!

Problem fixed for me too. Thank you Microsoft, even though it's your fault... anyway, it's fixed, and it was quick.

Yes i have noticed people being a little, hypocriticle, first saying how bad they are, and then saying thanks and good job. But it doesn't really matter, as long as everyone is happy to have it fixed again thats the point.

 

I definitely have lowered respect for MS and R* now, although mainly for MS.

 

If this does happen again though, i don't think we will see anybody saying thank you for a fix, and rightly so.

It's not hypocritical to expect a company to tow its own line and being noisy when they don't. And, it's only polite to say thank you afterwards too. They may have dropped the ball in plain sight, been called on it for dropping it....but they got "the play" going again as quickly as we could really expect. Anymore time involved though and I might have been much more "hypocritical", LOL!!

 

S*it happens. But, we won't sit quietly and ignore it. That's the first step to complacency in my book and I'm hardly complacent. I wouldn't hold a grudge here either, it's not fair. Forgive and forget. Though, they can surely expect the same response in a similar case in the future (but I gotta say too, the ice is getting thinner every time they walk on it). Anyway, I hope after all is said and done they will now think twice, thrice even, before running us through the pepper grinder again.

It is clearly written that this update should be done outside the game! Not from the inside! So i did the same! I uninstalled gfwl and installed the 3.5 version and then updated with this one! Done! have a nice day PLAYING!

Is that an old one? or a new one?

Wonderful! Glad to see everyone, including myself, is happy with the fix. I guess the wait wasn't that long.

 

After 3 hours of playing GTA IV with the new GFWL update, I'm pleased to find that the stuttering introduced by the 3rd patch is alleviated (apart from very few micro-stutters)!

 

Fine work Microsoft. You may now enjoy your game of bowling and margaritas.

Glad they fixed it so fast.

 

This replica of NY rockstar have created so lovely has near infinite potential for added content, I just hope rockstar let people realise it either with quality single player mods or extra content for purchase from rockstar.

 

I recently completed fable 2 and it was great the way you could buy propertys and upgrade them & rent them out, imagine if you could do similar with gta iv until you become king of NY .

this just fix the little freezes but why the hell when i start GTA IV its like 28FPS NO LAG! when i have played 5min it starts to lag 5-10FPS

It used to be like that for me Arski, played fine at first then after a few minutes, sometimes even a half hour before the frame rate dropped to a slideshow. Thats when I was on Xp 32 bit so I upgraded to Vista 64 and all was well, lovely smooth frames and a pleasure to play.

 

Not saying you should upgrade from 32 to 64 but it did work for me and others.

omg, oh well im gonna tell my story to you, (this start at december 08)

 

Windows XP 32 SP3 --> Windows Vista 32-Bit --> Windows 7 64-Bit Ultimate Beta --> Windows Vista 32-Bit.

 

I changed back to vista cause Win7 dont have good drivers to programs, i will get it when the Released version comes, then i really RECOMMEND to get one! its fast as XP and when it got drivers it will be beautiful.

 

im not gonna get 64 now.

GFWL fixed it. I don't think I should be happy, since they messed my game up and then they fixed that. Ah well, it's back and my IV is all good now...

Phew, all is back to normal

If only this mess did not happen in the first place, forgive me if I am still being negative but now I am going to be rather wary of letting GTA IV automatically update before reading these here forums first.

WTF my game now runs better then ever!

On high textures, with other settings med-high I still get avg 30 fps!

I don't know how but the game now runs smoother then ever!

Great they just fixed it. Told ya to wait and play other games while they're fixing it.

Well, if you updated it from within the game, that might be the cause. Try reinstalling GFWL and manually update it from the link in the first post of this topic.

Reboot. I had 3 desktop crashes and almost cut my wrists because of this. Which was hard because my throat was already cut.

Finished with a sawn-off!
