New WINDOWS LIVE update

Is there any way around installing the update, can i disconnect from the net when I want  to play SP?  I really dont want to spend a few hours of my time to reinstall the game and what not.

If I install Xliveless, and I get 100% which i have been trying to get, can I just reinstall the normal GFWL and will it be back to normal?

I do have stuttering again in single player, but now i dont know if it's because of this update, because i've just tried forceware 185.66 to see if i get fallout to stop crashing (most unstable game i've seen in ages), it didn't work, so i'm back with 181.71 which are about the only drivers that have worked fine so far with, and now i get stuttering. i have to test if it happens also in multiplayer bacause it didn't earlier today after applying the gfw patch.

 

I can't @#$%! believe this.

 

btw anyone has noticed the main menu loading MUCH slower, leaving the screen black until it appears? i'd look in the thread but hell, 12 pages in half day...

No, install xliveless, copy entire directory to another folder, reinstall game later at another location.

 

Again the MODDERS save the day.

I have a gut feeling this will not be fixed and we will be forced to fix it ourselves.

Hey everyone

 

Just launched GTAIV and was treated to an update. I knew that it wasn't R*, since I download patches manually. I always did. I'm no idiot and definitely know how to download software. Of course like many, I am treated to the bad stutter. I actually got busted with 1 star it stuttered so badly, and that never happened.

 

 

I remember with Gears of War how bad it stuttered. It was extremely unplayable. While GTAIV does not stutter like Gears, it is still a nuisance since this stutter never happened. I only suffered from moderate frame rates (20-25), but now this stutter is pretty bad. I am at the last mission and get complete it because of this stutter.

 

Why did Microsoft do this GFWL junk! It's a terrible idea, and developers aren't going to be happy if consumers don't buy titles with GFWL on it. This needs to be removed completely.

I tested Fallout3 and it appears to be okay. So it seems that GTA IV is the only game suffering right now. I only have Fallout3, GTA IV, and Gears.

 

Almost tempted to install Gears, but that would take 45 minutes to an hours.

I havent played SP much since the GFWL update. It used to be absolutely fine (30fps absolute min), for a couple of hours and then drop to 5fps when some game memory management problem kicked in (which i can still resolve by starting to record with fraps), now theres constant little pauses, nothing like anything before, and no activity from the hard drive...

 

 

Played a few hours of multi and maybe lost a few fps but no pauses.

it is seriously like rolling down the street on a car with only three wheels on it. somehow my fps has gone from a great 50fps to 10 ><.

 

the update came out yesterday, while I was playing on, multiplayer, and I didn't notice any shuttering at all when I rejoined my friend.

 

then decided to go for a drive thru the park this morning [ingame] in singleplayer and the ruddy main menu took at least a minute to load (compared to 5 seconds), and I was astonished to see my screen freeze every 5 seconds, then crashed.

 

sometimes I wonder how this GFWL stuff even started [i'm not blaming Rockstar] with the buggy Halo 2 [the first game that had this interface].

 

I hope this gets fixed sooner or later.

 

oh and Halo 2 doesn't shutter [at least for me], just to let you know.

 

multiplayer's fine. [i guess its something to do with syncronization with other players so there's less stuff to render and etc]

Again, this was NOT a rockstar patch this was a patch to GFWL which is a MICROSOFT program.

 

Rockstar has only released Three patches that is hardly a HUGE amount for a pc game.....

 

Microsoft are the ones to blame here but abusing them isn't going to fix the issue, I suggest emailing microsoft regarding the issue, a few thousand million angry people might get the message across.

Actually it's not whining. It's standing up for our rights not to be F'd with. GFWL took a working game and literally pooched screwed it. I mean I can't understand it but the game is so badly crippled now it's mind boggling. Why? Why? Why?????

What a joke was getting 38-50fps, smoooooooooth.. now it stutters really bad after the GFWL update.. looks like im going to have to go in the same.. save my game to a slot that is not auto save.. back up my saved folder. reinstall the game, and apply xboxliveless, this is awful.. How can a game have so many problems.. When it works. its a great game. but all these problems are "really getting on my nerves" as Niko would say.

Yeah! I just found a solution. 1024*768, all settings on Low/Off and the game almost runs fine.

Thanks MS, this update was so great that i will stop with the game till they fix that.

 

GTA IV was the only game that i play for hours since december and now this thing, i was very happy with the patchs, i was waiting for good news with a new patch and than...hope they fix this thing soon...my game is freezing

Main menu takes about 1min to load now and sometimes won't load at all.

Major FPS drop and LAG in single player lol multiplayer seems fine however

 

I reallly can't be assed reinstalling, I wish they had an undo patch feature.

I didn't even pay for it anyways my friend gave me her copy because she couldn't get it working on her PC.
