This is just horrible. After the 1.0.3.0 my game was working flawlessly. The game was running very smoothly, sure there were dips here and there but very good overall.

 

Now after this goddamn Live update it seems my FPS went to hell, the game runs TERRIBLY now. I don't know why, because it is just a Live service update and that’s it, but I get LOWER fps than before and every 3 seconds the game pauses like mad. It is just unplayable right now.

 

If something works OK, leave it to M$ to screw it.

Who makes the crap that everything runs on now besides on a MAC.....M$

 

im sry but I kno over half the world runs on M$ but alot of programs has problems because of it, really if I was workin for M$ I would double check before I would release something that would make some ppl mad

 

and this R* is a great gaming company, never had any problems out of their games........GFWL is only on ther to have achievements to unlock and have a live account to play online, now dont u think if they didnt have GFWL on it we wouldnt be in this argument right now cuz R* would of found another way to play online without live

Something weird's going on - I had the game running silky smooth, but then all of a sudden I was getting stuttering in single player earlier today - this was before I d'l'd the GFWL patch or realised it existed. Now it's installed, the stuttering in single player is worse, and there's a lot of HDD activity going on. GFWL is clearly using a lot more resources now, hence its slower load. Either something's patching in the background (so might improve when it's done?) or the new stuff's been coded by monkeys. In MP I really only do Race, and that hasn't got any stutter at all. Weirdsville or what?

It is MS's fault because they released a MANDATORY patch with apparently little regard to how it affected how GTA4 runs.

 

MS will fix the problem, if it gets fixed, because xLive is their product.

 

R* is OBLIGATED to get this problem fixed because R* REQUIRES the use of xLive, the user has no other option.

 

Now don't go on about using xLiveless, that's an unapproved Mod.

 

The GTA4 license says that the user MUST use xLive and if GTA4 runs so badly that it's unplayable then it's R* who is responsible to sort this problem out.

Yep. Installed update from their website without GTA IV running and single player has FPS loss and freezes up a bit.

 

Multiplayer works perfectly.

I wish my MP worked. I get the same stuttering in MP and SP. I tried both. I haven't played SP in a while, been playing MP exclusively until now. I played a little SP to see if it was the same and it is for me.

well ive heard that MP works fine so I gave it a try and it works PERFECT I even recorded some while I was playing and never droped below 16fps but still SP is crap

halo 2 for pc is also affected. it's stuttering like sh*t.

Now come on Truxter that isn't helpful. I suppose I am a troll as well. There is clearly an issue here and whilst I don't believe it is right to blame Rockstar this is obviously a f*ck up by MS. But it would have been nice if Rockstar could have at least SAID something in here.

 

As for a handful of people erm I don't think so it is looking like nearly EVERYONE is having this issue now across the board. I am a tolerant person but a f*ck up on this scale by MS should at least warrant a "yeah we screwed up and we are working on it" statement by now.

I am, literally - crying....

 

I've been enjoying this game for a solid month now....101 in game days (46.67%) and loving the absolute hell out of it. It's keeping me alive and productive, a treat for when I get home because the mayhem can begin. I spent the money and got the gear that makes her sing....GTA was creaming out 60+ fps unless I literally blew up a city block...maybe 30 then. Fab, just fab. I'm in tears running down pedis at full speed in the cruiser....it's gut busting. I often find myself just taking in Star Junction, it's quite an achievement, something that nutty.

 

And then there was Live (or Dead if you prefer).....the frame rate still peaks as normal but it just stops and stutters like she's been wounded. I'll try and explain in the effort to be helpful.

 

From what I can tell, and it only took 30 seconds to realize something must be dreadfully wrong, the game is just brick walling every 3-5 seconds. It's gets harsher the faster you try and move and makes eloquence impossible. There is *some* disk activity but due to the engrossment level of the game normally, I've never been one to look away to see that in a normal sense. To be fair to my rig, it's RAID0 - disk I/O shouldn't be causing this much stuttering (unless we're talking drive light ON, and we're not - blinky, blinky).

 

Now I've only run the game for a minute or so in its current state and that may be why....however, the RAM doesn't seem to be going GTA's way....if I had to guess, it's about half. I'm gonna give her a run for, I hope 30 minutes or more....it's difficult though...the game has been, for lack of a better description, destroyed.

 

Ya, I've run it for quite a while now with no perceivable difference between system performance overall. It's just stuttering like an injured pedi, brutal and not the same as hours ago before the Live update.

 

Dead Games For Windows is my take on the whole fiasco. Hotfix indeed!

There are two solutions unfortunately both will disable online play. I personally will sit it out and wait for the fix myself.
