How has the WINDOWS LIVE update affected your GTA 4 ?

There are only two solutions currently, the first is to install an earlier version of GFWL as suggested here :-

The alternative solution and I believe the best is to use Xliveless which you can find out about here :-

You should remember BOTH solutions will mean NO multi player. I am sure this problem will be fixed and pretty damn sharpish. However for now those are the only two solutions.

but using windows xliveless will not let me load my online profile will it?

Why the f*ck does MS have to come up with such bullsh*t? I feel like slapping a few bricks on the faces of the people at MS who do these updates.

As far as I am aware richiespeed13 that issue was solved a long time ago. It was only around when GTA 4 first came out. When I updated the GFWL interface it did quit the game and upgrade the interface whilst GTA 4 wasn't running. So I can't see it would make much difference if someone downloads the update manually and installs it. However right now it is all up in the air and no one knows.

 

It would be nice to get a bit of a response from Rockstar on the issue though.

I had to force the game with taskm because the update hanged.

Then i had a popup at the desktop from GFWL where you could choose to install en play or install.

And now i'm having trouble too mercie_blink.gif (look a few post above)

Yeah, maybe you are right.

 

Because when i was installing Games for windows live, it was always when the game was not running nor Rockstar games social club. But then we need the update on the internet so that we can download and test it while outside the game. Just like the first update we needed to download.

 

BUT STILL I DONT THINK THAT THISS WILL BE THE SOLUTION. I WILL BE HAPPY IF SOMEONE TESTS IT

 

STILL, WE NEED A NEW PATCH WHICH FIXES EVERYTHING.

 

ON TOPIC : So in this case R* must fix the problem caused my M$ . LOOOOL tounge.gif

But this time its M$' fault.

 

 

Microsoft has achieved something IMPOSSIBLE: Ruining GTA IV with a freakin' LIVE update.

 

Maybe they just put some virus in it to see what our reactions would be?

If this is the case, can you uninstall the patch and reinstall it outside of the game? If so can someone post how?

When I noticed that I was offline during the startup of the game I hit Home and it said there was a new patch. So that's how I downloaded it. It downloaded, and installed it and at some point during the install, the game restarted. Is that how everyone else got it? And if so can you uninstall the patch and reinstall it outside of the game?

Well i can never update via the live update, i always have to patch it manually, because of my internet connection, i was about to patch it manually, but i saw the posts on here, im debating i should try and patch it manually like they say we should, but i dont think that will actually fix this problem, and i only think Microsoft updated GFWL client like this, because the new fallout DLC comes out may 5th. but didnt think how it would effect other games.

i think the partnership between R* and MS sucks and R* should go it alone next time and the next GTA should be done by R* North and not Toronto dozingoff.gif

Ive emailed rockstar about this.

 

As far as reinstalling goes, yeah, thats great for all of you who have a disc. I bought it on steam, so i now have to completely remove it, and download 13gb of it again. And that takes 5 hours at 1mb/s.

 

Im screwed.

Bloody hell, just today I made a bet with a friend, who plays GTA 4 on PS3, to start all over and get to 100% first!

And just today I get this crapload called an update, which makes the game about 3x as bad..

 

Not good news, not good news at all!

its just a GFWL update that Microcrap put out this mornin and it makes the game either not pull up the main menu or during gameplay it stutters every 5-10 sec

GTA4 is nearly unplayable now, it stalls every 1 to 2 seconds for 0.1 to 0.2 seconds. Nothing in the settings affects this. This most recent GFWL patch makes SP a very unpleasant experience, almost enough for me to quit playing it and I would now NOT recommend this game to ANYONE.

 

It is R*'s OBLIGATION to get this fixed, in it's present state the game is barely of Beta quality (like it was any better before the GFWL patch).

I was one of the many who got one major stutter,then 5 mins later the game crashed to desktop.

 

But now with this new update I get little stutter after little stutter,but I could play it for at least 20 mins(which is a lot for me) till it crashed like usual.

 

Just what the f*ck do R*/Microwank wanna throw at us next.Cause just before this update I was slowly getting there with my game,I had been trying lots and lots of different memrestrict commands and the game was running better and better.

 

And now they chuck this usless update at us.

 

Where the f*ck is R* to tell us whats going on!!

well everything seems to go a bit smooth on me, on single player it does some little freezes and sh*t but i suggest TO ALL PUT THE UPDATE ON AND STICK UP TO MULTIPLAYER it seems to work fine there. ( thx god) so what this sh*t update did is to put something like a bug to gta iv and that bug is to lower the fps like 4-5 less. but that is just stupid how did they realease and update before checking it were they in a hurry? who knows....

 

Maybe they did a mistake cuz they are human and we are all human and humans make mistakes so i dont think we should hate them that much cuz of a game.sh*t happens...

 

so everyone shall go out a bit with their friends for a coffee or something and come back and they might see an update or a fix to that problem...

Almost everybody gets a serious fps drop and almost constant stuttering thanks to this update.

 

I can understand this might not be your fault, but microsofts'.

But since you seem to have some stupid sh*tty deal with eachother, please work it out and fix it!

 

The game sucked, you made it better with the patches, and now MS f*cked everything up again and made it worse then ever.

 

Please sue them.

Yeah i am getting more and more frustrated. This game is in beta stage. This game is not complete. This game has pissed me off. I have never NOT had a problem with this game. Both R* And MS have f*cked us over.

 

I can put up with this for now, but i swear if the next game is as bad as this i won't bloody buy it.
