Can I use this with my saved game and if so is there a certain way to install it? Im getting sick of gfwl .

Since GTA Patch 1.0.3.0 may game has been running perfectly and i was finally able to enjoy GTA 4.

 

However loaded today told there was update for Windows Live and installed it.

 

Now GTA 4 freezes and stutters like crap.

 

Nice one Microsoft. If your not busy f*cking up your OS your breaking other peoples stuff instead.

 

Well hopefully Rockstar have gotten wind of this and are cracking down on them to get it sorted.

Here's the change log for the update:

 

* Live Client for Windows setup has now been localized into 13 languages.

* Games For Windows and Games For Windows Live updates now available via Microsoft Update.

* Miscellaneous bug fixes.

* Support for larger premium downloadable content packages.

 

Kinda seems similar to the update just released for TF2. It screwed up the game/servers to add a button to delete all your unlock with out a chance of getting them back. Classy.

Just reading this gives me the shivers...if i fire up good old GTA4 to do some (as my mate calls it) 'ho-bashin' can i opt out of the good old live update etc, or am i better off starting with the router off bearing in mind the fact i can't give a rats a$$ about playing GTA4 online?

Yeah! I just found a solution. 1024*768, all settings on Low/Off and the game almost runs fine.

Yes, when you enter the game you wont be logged in to GFWL, I had to press home to open it and specifically allow the update to continue, so it should be safe to just start the game and play, as long as you dont go online

I noticed that my games stutters now too..

I think MS and R* dont even check their own updates

Amazing. It was just fine before the update and now it is completely unplayable due to chopping.

 

Why oh why did they use this malware for online? WHY?

I got a phone call from my mate saying he was having problems with stuttering after installing the update. I went on and installed it to see if it was just him and now I have the same problem. He's pissed since I bought it for his birthday on Sunday and he's barely got playing it, and now it's been broken. Anyone got any news on a fix for this?

Well I coulnd't resist installing the update. I knew that there was almost 100% chance that it would screw my game, but well, I'm not going to be at home for the next days, and I've time to reinstall the damn thing.

 

The game now freezes every 5 seconds or so. It's unplayable... I've never had this problem with any patch or update before.

 

What is strange is that when I updated my drivers (9600 GT) the game behaved EXACTLY like this! Even on multiplayer. I had to use the drivers made for GTA IV. But it's pretty weird.

 

My guess is that somehow GFWL is using more memory and CPU than it should, making the game to freeze. The problem is that online everything is fine, so I don't really know. Oh well...

 

EDIT: OMG this is hilarious...

That's exactly what I did, and that's what caused all this problem. Thank you support team, problem found.

My computer was eating GTA4 for breakfast.

 

Now, like all of you I get stuttering, and the experience has becomed a pain in the rear part. I will stop playing until this is fixed.

I had to push HOME to get to the main menu,otherwise it just stays black..

Its only a windows live update, NOT a patch for GTA.

There are only two solutions currently, the first is to install an earlier version of GFWL as suggested here :-

You should remember BOTH solutions will mean NO multi player. I am sure this problem will be fixed and pretty damn sharpish. However for now those are the only two solutions.

Well since it only affects SP, you can have the xliveless thing (I never used it) for SP. Then you exit the game, remove the xliveless thing and go play online... easy, isn't it?

That would be fine with me except I get the same stuttering in SP as MP. I tried playing noose and I almost couldn't fly the stuttering was so bad. The frame rates jump from 70 to 40 to 10 or less and repeat. Try flying while that is happening. It is really hard.
