How has the WINDOWS LIVE update affected your GTA 4 ?

I'm not even going to try it... all of you are saying it's making the game pretty much unplayable, so I'll happily keep playing without using GFWL. devil.gif

Yep you and me both, if this update indeed messes with SP (as mentioned by several) I'm surely not updating my game.

Yep you and me both, if this update indeed messes with SP (as mentioned by several) I'm surely not updating my game.

that's downright unbelievable (not saying I don't believe you by the way). I mean all it does is login to live for achievements and Multiplay and some memory protection, unbelievable that it messes with gameplay.

Everything about live is crap. It let me sign in to my gamertag once, the first time i ever played. After that it always said it couldn't connect to live. So, after hundreds of attempts to sign in, i turn on gta today and omg! It sais it requires an update, so i update it and it signs me in, finally!

 

Then i find out the update has ruined everything, and it has now gone back to never letting me sign in. I feel like i have been robbed.

How the hell do you keep it constructive when all an "update" does is ruining a game you enjoy(ed) playing?

I mean, I need to pay to get ripped off now? Poor customer service, but I didn't expect less from M$, R* isn't much better (thanks for porting instead of optimising for PC you money grubbing whores!

 

Anyways, I'll stop here, but yeah, it's less than cool, If i want to play on GFWL (XBL), i'll buy a damn console, I don't need this crap on my PC...

It's good to know that the MP is "good". Or at least, as good as it can be with all the cheaters. Too bad, lately I was enjoying playing free mode and co-op with a bunch of friends... multiplayer now only makes sense if you play with friends, really. You can have cheating-free matches, and lots of fun. I only play now if I see friends online xD.

 

Anyway, it's "amazing" how GFWL can make this happen to the game. What the hell does it do after all? I thought it was just there to keep track of your achievements, friends and to play multiplayer. Why the hell does it affect so much the game? I've never heard of anything like this before... and I've been playing games since I was 5.

 

I just wish that for the next time Rockstar will be smart enough and deal with another company. Use STEAM for online, at least it has an anti-cheating protection and it doesn't f*ck up your games...

 

I don't even notice when STEAM is running on the background of the games that use STEAM.

GFWL f*ck up your games... for PC anyways.

Nothing to be surprised about. (I wish I had read the opinions on this game/GFWL here first before buying this steaming pile of sh*t... would've saved me a LOT of hassle and a nice chunk of cash.

I guess I still had some faith in M$ (R* always delivered for me, apart from IV's poor, poor performance on PC's).

 

Next one, I won't have blind faith in either, lesson learned.

Still a damned shame that it had to happen, for crying out loud.

can you not see the poles there not jagged anymore they added AA to the game it looks way more better!!! and its not freezing on me....

Chris1508 you seem to have missed the fact that this is a WINDOWS LIVE UPDATE it is NOT an update to the game it has not introduced anti-analysing at all it is just an update to the Games For Windows Client and it has had detrimental results on GTA 4 for most people by the looks of it.

WOW. Then you are UNIQUE!! A UNIQUE KIND that CAN play GTA IV WITH (?) THE GFWL UPDATE AND WITH BETER GRAPHICS.

I can not imagine playing GTA IV with constant freezes every 2 sec. In a situation like i just dont give a **** about : "Ohhh WOW BETTER ANTI ALIASING" !

 

This update for GFWL is just like VISTA. just as crappy and is also made by M$ (!)

 

Just, please come on. how long is it when the game came out, 5 or 6 months?!

No, it's an update for the GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE application, not GTA IV.

 

In any case, If you bother to read the thread you'll see it's something you want to avoid.

 

(People who act erratically on forums with caps and like the world is about to end in 2 seconds really bug me...)

bokito200 i appreciate your problem but could you create a topic in trouble shooting for it.  This thread is to discuss the windows live update and whether it is causing problems for people or not.

Am sad to say charlie that it is for me! i was already suffering from the in game stuttering, but this patch has seem to make it three fold. it is now worse then ever, not only that but when i enter a tunnel or go near any light, the illumination from it disapears. IE: when i drive through the tunnel, the lights go off one by one when i pass them, driving in to nothing but darkness.

Well you aren't alone LiBertyB I had GTA 4 working fantastically till this windows live update now the game stutters like hell. I know this isn't Rockstar Toronto's fault what MS do with their client is up to MS and Rockstar Toronto can't be held accountable for that.

 

Anyway I am going to add a poll to this topic, please vote HONESTLY and responsibly.

 

UPDATE

 

Poll is now up, I think I have covered all the available options, if you want an option adding then either pm me or tell me in here I will be monitoring this thread.
