Fallout: New Vegas

I don't get it.

I've played it on 2 different PCs - PentD(32bit OS) and an i7(64 bit OS), and it never crashed once.

Even on my xbox it only froze up once.

you're one of the lucky ones then.

It's well known that it's a very buggy game, from simple little errors to crashes to gamebreakers. With the PC you can get past many with the console, but with the consoles if you get a crash, you can't do jack sh*t.

Just google "fallout error" or crash and you'll see how common it is. There's always those lucky that never get crashes or errors and tbh with #3 i never had THAT many problems, at least none that a reload wouldn't solve (in one instance liberty prime refused to move on the bridge, thus locking the entire mission up).

NV though i've got a crash after one (real life) day,. I am not impressed tbh

YES this has been talked about ad infinity.

Nothing you're saying brings anything new to the table.

Yet you unlucky guys who can't enjoy it because if it are always surprised to see those of us who very rarely experience these problems.

Any mods you guys would recommend?

I'm stuck in the last quest so I plan on using a trainer or cheats and getting past it (playing in hardcore mode on very hard difficulty, didn't bring enough stimpaks) and then getting some mods.

If you're looking for weapons you can't go wrong with Ahztek's Weapon Overhaul.

Like puzzle quests? If so, try Puce Moose's Tales of the Burning Sands it even includes a companion that's actually not overpowered and is the spiritual sucessor to another favourite from one of his F3's mods...

Just keep in mind it has a huge ammount of reading material... And almost no fighting...

Lucky. My sh*t froze well over 20 times. For real. Very aggravating.

ya mine froze up quite a bit, just killed a bunch of cazadors and it freezes or VATS seems to be really bad just like in f3...i just learned to save often.

I had a crash earlier after killing a Gecko that ambushed me on the way to Primm, and i went to take it's meat, opened the itinerary screen and it dies.. Random!

I don't know, my game has been surprisingly stable lately, even with some mods, in fact I think the masterupdate for mod compatibility actually made the game more stable... Somehow...

I did find out that using Xfire whith vegas led to a surprising ammount of random screen minimizing when clicking on items while looting...

My New Vegas runs awesome and only ever crashes when I fiddle with the graphical configuration lines (after hours of gameplay that is).

Xfire crashes NV on start-up however, since it isn't supported by a color palette mod I have (New Vegas version of ENB).

The last update from Live f*cked up my save file and I haven't been able to get past a loading screen since. I was given a notice that some content was no longer available or something along those lines when I loaded the game, but it seemed to work fine until a few days later when I tried to recover the file after advancing quite far in the game. They released another patch which I assumed would fix it, but no luck here. Anyone else having a similar issue?

On the plus side, it's given me an incentive to go back and play through Fallout 3 again.

I've got my F3 save ready for replay - gonna be as a chick this time. a red head. yeah.

The recent update confused me. I loaded my game to be told that the save relies upon DLC and some content will be missing.... I have not bought ANY DLC for fallout (plan to get broken steel for 3 before going back to that)

For the record I'm playing on the 360. I don't have a good gaming rig for PC games sad.gif

Sucks I was doing the quests at the Legion's camp for Mr. House and the robots take out my legs.

I find out I'm out of doctor's bag and I couldn't find any so I had to hoof it back to Novac on bad feet... took forever!!!!!

Well, they officially confirmed the three upcoming DLCs and their rumored names today. colgate.gif

May 3, 2011 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced three downloadable content packs will be released in the coming months for Fallout®: New Vegas™. The three packs will be released simultaneously for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows-based PCs.

Honest Hearts™, Old World Blues™ and Lonesome Road™ will further expand upon Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.

Available on May 17, Honest Hearts takes you on an expedition to the unspoiled wilderness of Utah's Zion National Park. Things go horribly wrong when your caravan is ambushed by a tribal raiding band. As you try to find a way back to the Mojave, you become embroiled in a war between tribes and a conflict between a New Canaanite missionary and the mysterious Burned Man. The decisions you make will determine the fate of Zion.

In Old World Blues, releasing in June, you will discover how some of the Mojave’s mutated monsters came to be when you unwittingly become a lab rat in a science experiment gone awry. You’ll need to scour the Pre-War research centers of the Big Empty in search of technology to turn the tables on your kidnappers or join forces with them against an even greater threat.

Lonesome Road, available in July, brings the courier's story full circle when you are contacted by the original Courier Six, a man by the name of Ulysses who refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the start of New Vegas. In his transmission, Ulysses promises the answer as to why, but only if you take one last job –a job that leads you into the depths of the hurricane-swept canyons of the Divide, a landscape torn apart by earthquakes and violent storms. The road to the Divide is a long and treacherous one, and of the few to ever walk the road, none have ever returned.

Reviews of Fallout: New Vegas have called the game as “an utterly essential purchase” (MSN UK) and as “addictively, rambunctiously fun” (Entertainment Weekly). The Associated Press awarded it a 4 out of 4 stars and said “Bottom Line: It’s a Blast”, while GameSpy gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars and called Fallout: New Vegas “one of the best games of the year.”

All downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available for download on Xbox LIVE® for 800 Microsoft Points, the PlayStation®Network for $9.99, and both Steam and Direct2Drive for $9.99.

Published by Bethesda Softworks and developed at Obsidian Entertainment, Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, and Fallout: New Vegas have been rated M for Mature by the ESRB.  For more information on Fallout: New Vegas, including the game’s downloadable content, please visit http://fallout.bethsoft.com.

Out of all those, I most definately like the sound of 'Lonesome Road' the most. Do want.

There is an ENB for NV? I swear I looked and didn't see one. Holy crap, I'm gonna have to look again.

Oh and those DLCs look pretty good - can't wait.

I started Dead Money last night. Lovin it. The feeling of desperation and being lost has never been so strong in fallout. This might be the best DLC outside of Lookout Point (possibly even better than)

Matt Grandstaff posted some new info on Bethesda Forums regarding oncoming add-ons:

Each DLC will raise the level cap by 5. So including Dead Money, if you've got them all, you'll have a cap of 50.

And for you, I have good news. If you’re concerned that the new level cap increases will make the game too easy for you, I've got a couple things to note:

1) Congratulations on being hardcore

2) Old World Blues will offer a new trait (and respec your traits if you've already chosen them) that will allow you to cap your level at 30 (or current level if you’re already over 30).

And if someone still doesn't know about that:

Unrelated, wanted to note that none of the upcoming DLCs will allow you to play beyond the main quest (for the same reasons noted by the developers prior to the game's release).

Hm... I'd bet we're going to find out the crazies at The Big Empty are the responsible for the nightstalkers, I just get that feeling...

It's not actually an official release, it's just that ENB is a flexible mod that works with most games after some minor tweaking.

It adds some features such as advanced DoF and SSAO, but I only really use it for the color palette.

On a different note, here's a popular mod that combines New Vegas and Fallout 3 together (requires both games installed).

A Requiem for the Capital Wasteland

Looks quite interesting.

That kinda sucks, although I can see why they've done that.

Tis a shame that you are unable to play after the story but i can understand why.

I've not even picked up Dead Money yet, maybe soon. Although the next three sets of DLC sound great i think Lonesome Road certainly sounds the best which may be why they're releasing it last.

I have not bought ANY DLC for fallout (plan to get broken steel for 3 before going back to that)

Yeah broken steel is epic, definitely worth it, also Operation Anchorage is fun to, since you're starting a new save I'd also recommend it. Early power armor training+T-51b Winterized+ High lv. weapons+ Power Armor training early in the game can be nice to have in D.C all the other DLC are also great Point Lookout can make bank, I went there, and came back to D.C with loads of caps.

I but a spoiler there just incase you didn't want the prize ruined it really dosen't pertain to story of the add-on.

Now, back to New Vegas.

Like Seddo said, I can see why you can't play after the story, but it's still disappointing, but still overall the game was great, I still think FO:3 overall beat it (especially now that i’m going though on 3 again) but over all, one of the better games I have bought recently. Still the bugs are annoying, though there are less Freezes than on my PS3 GOTY. (though those mostly happened on the last half of Broken Steel, point look out, and Mothership Zeta)

One such bug on NV that pissed me off, was that Veronica decided not to talk with the elder freezing her quest, making McNamara freeze, and making it impossible to even make Hardin elder, so when I had to take care of the BoS for the NCR, I ended up deciding. Oh I can kill them all, well not so much couldn’t even escape. Gauss Rifles and T-51B are hard to thwart in Mk.2 Reinforced combat armor.

Yeah I know, didn't fell like getting the pulse gun on that save, and McNamara was so bugged you couldn't pick pocket him.

Anyhow as you could see from my user title I'm sorta a BoS fan lol (weather it‘s the old school BoS or the Capital wasteland protect the people chapter I like em), so even though I was forced to start a new game, (as I decided to pick a fight with the BoS) it was worth it to get them to side with the NCR/me.

But do you have twitter or facebook accounts ?

I have an account but I hardly use it. Takes time to type the user and pass since mine are a bit long and my exciment goes away untill I finish typing and loading. I don't like this kind of 18+ rule on some videogame teasers or trailers at all. Like youtube knows you're real age (18 or 14) when you could have 12 or 10. In that moment after waiting so much time for some game trailers, only the verification I need now.

Maybe laziness from me turn.gif , but I still prefer Click on Play and view.

I think that annoys everyone. And I have my accounts saved to this computer. I don't share it with anyone so there's no need to type it in everytime i go on it.
