Reconite: I agree some of the writing and voice acting was mediocre at best in FO3 and the main story was nothing to write home about, I loved the side quests in FO3.

However, the location and the team working on New Vegas make me especially anxious to see what wonderful side quests and locations appear.

I'd like to see a trailer.

me too, but they haven't released anything of the sort, not even a concept art. but i'll update when they do.

There is absolutely no doubt of my buying this when it comes.

Could easily write countless pages on what I want to see with the great potential of past material they have to work with, let alone possible new locations and things, like maybe Salt Lake City with a nearby "Great Irradiated Lake"?

New Arroyo, Vault City, NCR, OG BoS West... Vegas...

f*ck, I can't wait to see some solid info on this.

I'd much like to see how New Arroyo turned out! colgate.gif

Yeppa. biggrin.gif

~On my point about SLC... Maybe the "Great Irradiated Lake" could have a 'town' in the middle of it (similar to Lake-Town of Tolkien lore), populated with ghouls/mutants, and humans too, either as slaves or running the place. With the aforementioned boat patrols around it. monocle.gif

Oh! And how could I forget the Hoover Dam?! Imagine... happy.gif

I quite liked the Van Buren idea for Hoover Dam.

Yes ~ http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Hoover_Dam

It is not certain if it will appear in any future Fallout game, but because Hoover Dam is near Las Vegas, there is a possibility that it may appear in the upcoming game Fallout: New Vegas.

Hope so. smile.gif

This game is going to rock. My one hope, is instead of shelling out big bucks for a couple of high profile voice actors, they just get more unknowns. Hearing the same 10 voices over and over was my #1 gripe with 3 and Oblivion.

Figured I'd just post this here instead of creating a new thread:

Screenshots of Project V13, the Fallout MMO in development leaked in the Bethesda vs Interplay court case. Notice the mutant looks very Fallout 1/2-like instead of Bethesda's yellow ogres.

The mutants in Fallout 3 looked great to me.

But they aren't what any Fallout mutants looked like before, which made no sense.

It makes perfect sense if you consider that the previous Fallout games were stylized art direction and the third was striving for a photo-realistic look.

In terms of story, I think the FEV in Vault 87 was modified somewhat.

"Stylized art direction", these guys are meant to be green:

Because the F.E.V. is green:

Jokes... right?

And what the hell is that guy wearing... medieval chainmail and cloth clothes? He looks like a fricken ogre. And since when were Super Mutants cannibals?

And that Vault 87 excuse was kinda weak, but I'll suppose it will have to do.

Yeah, I think Bethesda went a wee bit OTT with gore bags and hanging skeletons and whatnot. Made such with the Raiders, well, somewhat, but not so much with the Muties...

I disagree, i believe that the mutilated bodies hanging from hooks, gore bags etc all helps add to the savage atmosphere of The Capital Wasteland.

Hopefully in NV the interiors will vary rather then re using the same interiors in several different buildings like in 3. I dont have many complaints with the first, imo it was awesome so all i can ask for is more enemies, more guns and more areas to explore!

I am very excited.

True, but in places it was overdone and illogical.

...so they're not the right shade of green? That's the major problem? Sweet Jesus, you must have flipped the f*ck out when Ford Prefect was played by a black man.

Honestly, the green flesh in Fallout 1 and 2 was just too cartoony. And it's not like it's an entirely different color, either - Marcus looks quite close to the fellow in the bottom image from FO3. I don't blame them at all for trying a more natural shade. I can only thank god that they re-approached the character design.

And this is why I have such big problems with the new Fallout fan-base.

Don't treat me like a f*cking child. You want to discuss things, fine - but don't belittle my opinion with a 'facepalm'. Man the f*ck up and explain yourself.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. When they made a film, they made one of the characters black, and a lot of stuffy shirted fanboys got their Federation-Red underoos in a knot.

I will treat you like "a f*cking child" because you insist on treating some of my favourite games as "cartoony".

Yeah, liam neeson and ron perlman blow hard at voice acting.

Reconite, a thousand apologies for not clearly spelling that out for you. It was too cartoony to translate to a photorealistic approach. You can't deny that the character design in those games was cartoony and stylized. Shall I find some examples for you? Or are we on the same page? Is this even worth my time discussing with you?

And please quit it with the supercilious quotes. You don't need to patronize me simply because I don't hold the same reverence for something as you do.

Everyone, calm down! Please! You can't fight in here, this is the war room!

Everyone, keep it civil! Acknowledge our differences!

Everything needs more Ron Perlman.

But, to throw this out there - I did get a little sick of the voices in FO3 after a while. There was a lot of (understandable) repetition, recycling, and I wish they had a couple different actors for the 'old' voices. Heh.

Yes I can, and I'll do that now.

Yes, the graphics are outdated. No, they are not cartoony.

Do outdated graphics automatically mean they are cartoony? No.

I do not believe that this:

What the hell are you expecting from a game from 1998? This?

Bethesda can't seem to realize this needs fixing, and not just in F3 (Elder motherf*cking Scrolls).
