For when I can 12G pump a Centaur in the face that has been mutated and combined with a slot machine I will be happy.

Those little sh*ts need to die.

I still want a new Rainbow Six Vegas also.

I got nothing really constructive to add, so I'm just gonna settle for HELL YES. This sounds awesome! I loved Fallout 3 (most fun I've had in a game for a long time) and I'll be getting this release day for sure.

Is this following the same format used in Fallout 1, 2 and the other PC games or is it going to use a mixture best utilised in Fallout 3? I hope it’s the latter as Fallout 3 is one of the best games I have ever played.

I still want it to be FO3 gameplay but more RELEVANT to the original fallout's.

I really hope they use the FO3 engine, from what I hear the original developers had made a turn based game, which alone would completely ruin the experience.

If that's the case, they should keep it like Fallout: Tactics.

Make it togglable between Real Time Combat and Turn-Based!

How does turn based, ruin the experience?

Well I enjoyed having the combat in real time, where the outcome of the battle relied on your own skill, rather than just a roll of the dice that turn based relies on. If I wanted that, I'd bust out Final Fantasy or Pokemon ffs. IMO they pretty much nailed it with Fallout 3, all they need to do is a few minor adjusments -more weapons, enemies,ammo- and extra content and I will be happy to waste enjoy savoir another 200 hours catspider.gif

I hope it takes place directly after the bombs falling. Playing in a world of mass hysteria and destruction would be an insane set for a game like Fallout.

It would be cool for the story to start with the first bombs falling off the horizont and you having to run to a Vault as a kid. That would rock, in my opinion.

Pardon my nerdiness, but weren't the vaults built on the east coast after the bombs hit the west coast? As in, Vegas probably won't have any vaults...

I want them to make this game the same way they did everything in the original Fallouts BUT make it so that you get real time and VATS.

And don't worry, what was to be Fallout 3 (Fallout: Van Buren) had both turn based and real time combat, so this'll go the same way wink.gif.

Spectacular. Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. I started playing in January this year and I'm still not done exploring everything. I spent two days alone exploring the extreme north end of the map. The level of detail is just awesome. I'm gonna have to buy some of the old Fallout games at some point.

Indeed. I also hope that they make it so you can become a ghoul if exposed to too much radiation, that would be awesome.

Or play as evil Super Mutant and destroy all humanity or a good Super Mutant in finding a cure for mutation.

I like the idea of the bombs going off as the first mission.

But it takes a good 100-200 years after the bombs fall before 'civilization' emerges outside the vaults, so the character you play as in the beginning would most likely have died in the Vault by then confused.gif

Like you are guys are saying, a good idea woul be: you get to choose your charater. IDEA: Like being a human, ghoul, Super Mutant, maybe even a kid, or you have a job outside in the world. (Scientist, Security Guard, hotel mananger, etc.) and you take a leave and go travel the wastes.

Do you think Super Mutants gamble?

This should be good. Fallout 3 was so immersive I got sucked into it a lot faster then both Morrowind and Oblivion. But Fallout was always better then TES series IMO anyway. Oh man, Las Vegas...GREAT! But I'd like to see the city of angles someday as well

dude the first fallout IS in th f*cking city of angels

Ah, now that'd be pretty sweet.

I just imagine an Escape From New York-esque NY. That'd be damn awesome.

Before I begin, please don't lock this, as this is NOT fallout 3, so this is a new thread.

From joystiq.com:

At a Bethesda press event in London today, our very own Jem Alexander learned of a brand new addition to the Fallout universe. Fallout: New Vegas will be available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 next year, courtesy of Alpha Protocol developer Obsidian Entertainment.

No other details have been revealed yet, but we're certain Jem will lockpick and hack his way to as much information as he can. We'll feed him to the mutants if he doesn't.

Update: The title is "just Fallout: New Vegas. No number. It's not a sequel." For those worried this non-numbered expansion would be a party game, fret not. It's "definitely an RPG," according to Bethesda VP Pete Hines. Obsidian Entertainment was founded by Fergus Urquhart who, along with a few other Obsidian guys, worked on the original Fallout. The team was approached by Bethesda and "jumped at the chance" to work on this new title.

----------------

an interview From Shacknews.com

Shack: When did Bethesda start thinking about a Fallout spin-off?

Pete Hines: It's something that we've discussed at night for a while, and just had talked about doing. And we said, well, if we're going to do this, we want to do it with the right kinds of folks, and the folks that could do right by it, have the right kind of experience, the right background.

Honestly, we just felt like Obsidian was a great fit for that. They have experience doing this kind of thing, they have guys that worked on the original Fallout games. We really liked their idea for what it is they wanted to do, and we just said, "Okay."

Shack: Was there ever a stage where it was an internal project, or was the intention always to hand the franchise to a third party and publish?

Pete Hines: The idea was, put aside for a second what Bethesda Game Studios is going to do going forward, as it relates to anything. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, no matter what--forget about that for a second and, if you do, would you do this if you could do it and not affect what they wanted to do? Could they peacefully co-exist?

And we felt like, yeah, we could work with somebody else to make a game like this and still let the Bethesda Game Studios guys focus on their next projects and the things that they're working on. And so we did.

Shack: What has Bethesda's attitude been in terms of allowing Obsidian freedom to create their own Fallout game?

Pete Hines: I think we tried very hard not to put much in the way of parameters on them. To let them kind of come up with the idea. So we didn't go to them and say, we want a game that is set here, and--we didn't do that. We said, "What would you do with it? If we were going to do this, what would you guys like to do?"

Shack: So you asked them for a pitch, as opposed to pitching them a project.

Pete Hines: Correct, correct. And honestly, generally speaking, that's how it works best, which is: you've gotta have people who are really vested in the idea that it's their creation. "This is what makes us excited. If we could do this, this is what we would want to do."

You may help them mold or frame that, but if that's what they're excited about, then that's what you should do. As opposed to, I come up with something that would be cool, and you go to them and they go, "Oh, okay. Well, sure." You're just not necessarily going to get the same passion or excitement from the team. And those are the guys who need to be the most excited about it, because that's what they're going to go into the office and be creative on and make for the foreseeable future.

But it was good. I think we were all on the same page in terms of the kinds of things that we wanted to do, and what it could be. And yeah, so now I want to play it.

Shack: Was this deal locked down fairly recently? I'm curious because up to the end of last year, Obsidian was working on the Aliens RPG, and they obviously had Alpha Protocol. I'm wondering if the Aliens cancellation was in any way related.

Pete Hines: I don't know. That might be a question for Obsidian whenever we get around to talking a bit more about it, but it was just something that we've been talking with them about for a while now, and working with them for a while now, and we felt like this was the right time to talk about it. We didn't want to wait until E3 and have it get drowned out in the noise of that.

Shack: Does Broken Steel mark the end of Fallout 3 DLC from Bethesda's end?

Pete Hines: We'll have to wait and see. Never say never, but the initial goal was we want to do three, and here's what we want em to be. And so we'll have to wait and see after that. [broken Steel] was the one where it feels like everybody has been most looking forward to and waiting on, so we'll kick this one out and figure out where we want to go from there.

Shack: You guys trademarked the Fallout name for movies and television recently. Was that related to a specific project, or..?

Pete Hines: That's more part of, we spent a lot of time developing Fallout into something that is very hot. It has a lot of people's interest--

Shack: So you're just protecting it.

Pete Hines: --and we just want to be make sure that we're protecting what we created. And I can tell you, we've gotten a ton of interest about those kinds of things, not just with Fallout, but over the years. And it was just a, "Let's make sure that we're protecting what is ours and not letting somebody else do anything with it." So it's more of that, and it is not in response to any specific project or initiative or anything in particular.

-------------------

DISSCUS!

2nd.

I also, cannot wait for this! colgate.gif

I've got my trust in Obsidian that they will do a good job of this.

They are the remnants of what once was 'Black Isle Studios' who created the original Fallout games. Their games have a lot more depth and storyline to them than what Bethesda came up with (it's true and you all know it), the storyline was shallow and to be quite honest, crap in Fallout 3.

If you disagree, don't go nuts and swear at me, show me some proof supporting your defence of Fallout 3.
