Disabling Dynamic DoF completely fixed it. Now running at a steady 60FPS. Reenabling DoF doesn't seem to mess the frame rates up at the moment but I never particularly liked it anyway. Also goes some way to explaining why my last NV save ran like turd.

Glad to know that you fixed your problems. To be honest, I'm completely alright with 30 FPS on my games, but Fallout 3 and NV are the two exceptions. And with a PC like yours, it deserves all of those 60 FPS.

I spent 30 minutes restarting "Arrival at Zion" trying to save everyone, or at least someone and finally realized you can't.. I've beat OWB, HH and I'm currently working on Dead Money, which is a bit more difficult than OWB (considering I entered Big MT at level 35). After this I'll work on Lonesome Road and trot on to finally beat the game. It's only been 5 years, but I think I'm gettin' close.

I guess I was lucky, since I didn't try at all. When I first played, I actually killed Salt-Upon-Wounds, and after that I was asked to get some map. I got it, killed Daniel, left, and realized that I literally completed a 3 hour+ DLC in 30 minutes.

I was pissed as hell.

And with my current character (melee and unarmed, depends on the mood), I will try Dead Money again. It should be easier this time around, since when I first did it my character sucked at CQC.

Hmm, I'm struggling to kill anything in Dead Money. I let Dog do most of the work, while I hack away at some 'Ghost' things. I have dedicated zilch to my Unarmed and Melee, and I haven't had luck finding any good guns besides a 9mm. I literally have to run and sneak around the damn Villa, without causing any commotion. Keeps me hooked though.

Well... I jinxed myself. Stuck in the Sierra Madre escorting Domino with 3 bullets of a 9mm, no health (heart beating) with 2 stimpaks and a doctors bag. I'm so screwed... go back a save file? Same situation. If I go back any further I'm at the 'Think Tank' for the conclusion of OWB... which means I have to restart Honest Hearts entirely... 100 hours put in.. good god what do I do?

Question about factions here - do you guys think that Caesar's Legion is the equivalent of the Angels of Death and NCR the equivalent of The Lost from GTA TLaD?

I'm new to the Fallout series btw.

Not really. Outside of the white washing they got in TLaD, The Lost aren't that different from the AoD.

Hell, in V they pretty much are the AoD.

The NCR is a bloated partially corrupt modern(old) democracy that allows certain freedoms while still enforcing the rule of law.

The Legion is dictatorship run by a heirarchy(Caesar) which trades freedom for guaranteed protection at the potential cost of being forced into slavery.

I guess none of these factions are saints by any stretch of the imagination and you're basically forced to choose the lesser of two evils I guess.

I'm planning to get the Enclave power armor and helmet where a sh*tload of Deathclaws are. Problem is, the helmet reduced charisma by one, and I'd prefer running full set. Now what really bugs me is that even if I have a speech of 100, while I wear the set it goes down to 99, and even that 1 point could mean a lot in some major points in the game.

Is there any way to have the full set on, while keeping a speech level of 100?

Sivi already gave you some useful advice on this, but I thought that I'd give you another tip if you're still having difficulties; level your Speech skill to 100, and then get the Charisma Implant. Your Speech skill will be increased to 102 (even though it will display as 100 in your stats), and it'll get bumped down from 102 to 100 every time you put the Enclave Remnant/Tesla helmet on, so you won't be forced to take the helmet off before every conversation, or use the GECK to modify it otherwise.

Pretty much, it's all subjective. None of them are perfect, so it's essentially up for you to decide which faction should be in control. The NCR and Legion aren't the only major factions you can side with, either, so if you don't like either of them, then there's a few other options available.

Thanks a f*cking lot man. Now I just have to buy Esther, some ammo for it, and kill those deathclaws.

No problem. I almost forgot to mention: I think you need to be wearing the helmet while buying the implant (so your Speech skill is bumped down to 98/99), as I'm not sure if it'll stay at 100 when wearing the helmet, otherwise.

If it doesn't work out, mentats and alcohol are never in short supply :)

Double points on the alcohol if you have Cass with you all the time. Extra bonuses + no negative effects of alcohol addiction? Count me in.

True, as OWB is full of Mentats, but I'm not a fan of using them every time I enter a conversation. Mostly because I just simply forget, and I found out the hard way that even 1 point of speech can make a major difference.

I've gotten bored with OWB. It's sending me all over the map, over and over and over, just to collect sh*t for the Sink's AI systems. Not enjoying that, so i'll skip that for now. Just went in the DNA splicing Lab, and i knew exactly what was waiting for me there.... and does Specimen 72 (or whatever it's called) turn invisible?!

Whaat, I never get bored of OWB. Best DLC ever.

The Cazador thing? I don't think so. Either way VATS takes care of it.

The only 100 speech check is at the very end of the game. 99 will be more than enough for everything else.

But what if I don't want to fight Ulysses? I remember a 100 speech check there as well. Through you're right for the most part.

That is the reason why I list it as third DLC on my list, after Dead Money and Lonesome Road. OWB was good, but it was quickly becoming tedious, especially if you wanted to upgrade everything. Completing the same again task to get an upgrade for the Stealth Suit or the weapon was not fun. I still like the add-on and I always complete everything that there is to do (maybe without killing the giant bloatfly), but I wouldn't mind if that would be a bit more interesting.

That was my biggest problem - how repetitive it was. The tests themselves were okay, nothing special. But doing them over and over really felt like a chore.

Didn't use Vats, just the axe.

But yeah, I'm moving on with it - talking to the think tank loonies - a bit more interesting. Now... Can you decide 8's 'speech'? I want to repair the damage

I don't think that's possible. I think I passed every skill dialogue and all that happened was that my character understood him, but he still couldn't speak properly.

Your character does somewhat translate 8's 'words', as in 'so you're saying that ... '.

I may have started modding again. Said to myself "gee, why don't I make a customised version of Millennia's Steyr Scout with a holographic sight and heavy duty barrel, chambered in a big game hunting round like the .376 Steyr and subject to a nice retex" (not yet retextured it)

Voila!

Do your weapon mods replace other weapons, or are they like Militia's?

Link to comment

They're standalone ones, usually unique weapons hidden away in different places. This one is going to be a conversion kit for Millennia's Scout, with a custom round (going to have to decide how to make it, probably from wildcatting .308 cases).

Higher damage per shot, lower firing rate, slightly worse accuracy, much less health. Mods are going to be a midrange scope, muzzle brake and extended magazine.

And holy sh*t I just can't get Fallout New Vegas to work anymore. Reinstalling the game, runnin' it vanilla and savegames/new games it crashes.

Adding all the f*cking mod support sh*t... vanilla/savegame both crash.

And I really want to play it with mods. I don't f*cking care if I have to restart all over, played it a f*ckton so I know what to do. I just want to f*cking play the DLC's/finish them before FO4!
