Man, seeing all these screenshots makes me want to jump back into the wasteland. Pat, which mod are those sandstorm shots using? I've got Nevada Skies for storms and stuff, but I don't recall that blurry effect. What are some other good mods to run? I've only got that, Satchels, FOOK, AG Sup. Uniques, and Underground Hideout (which is really f*cking cool).

It's definitely from Nevada Skies- that's how it looks on my system when you get sandstorms. The blur in third person is a result of the camera position- you get a kind of Gaussian blur effect that increases with distance.

 

Might I recommend New Vegas Bounties I and II?

I'm guessing it's going to be set in the North-East of the 'states, somewhere mountainous and quite sparsely populated but not somewhere that's been covered extensively in FO lore

Agreed, the New Vegas Bounties are really great extra missions.

 

Others that I use:

 

Mad Science

 

Cables New Vegas Rodeo Clowns

 

Electro City A must have if you're using any mods that alter the night to be darker. You also want NVSE Flashlight

 

You can look up the rest on Nexus, but I found these mods pretty great:

 

FairyRadar: A radar that shows the enemies/friends.

Bottle that water: A mod that lets you use empty bottles and fill them with water at a water source.

Buried Mobile Home: My favorite house mod.

Portable Tent

Scrap weapons - Great Wasteland weapons made from junk

Bingles melee complete - An awesome collection of custom melee weapons, very original.

Interior Lightning Overhaul

 

RivensChunkyDuncanRace- Fat people, yeah!

 

Apart from that I have a ton of location add-ons and loose weapons, but I won't recommend all those combinations for you tounge.gif Causes a lot of crashes.

 

I also got some mods off several Russian sites, which are ofcourse in Russian, which means I have some Russian materials which is pretty damn annoying.

I'd rather see a densely populated place. NV was so sparsely populated!

Maybe it's a crazy idea, but I just think it could be amazing.

 

If FO4 is not in USA, surely they would go with China*.

 

*Or Canada, or Mexico.

Because around 2281 New Mexico and Texas are under banner with Bull and I don't think it would be good and interesting idea to set game in Ceasar's world. All FOs were set in world without steady goverment and law. Setting game in such a developed and clean place would kill it's atmosphere.

Right on. Probably has to do with him using hires textures and enhanced shading too. I just grabbed the bounties too, running through those soon.

 

Either NY or la would be cool, though maybe a new East coast jaunt might be fresher. Mutated horses with 6 legs I'd love as some transportation. Or motorcycles with very hard to find gasoline, so you have to reserve it.

It is indeed a combination of the newest release of Nevada Skies, Enhanced Shaders and maxed out graphics. At this point, the Gamebryo engine is so old that you'd be surprised just how well most computers can handle these settings. Like Fireman said, though, the motorcycle mod is only functional on the best of the best rigs. I don't like to boast, but despite my rig being just about as powerful as you can get, I still had stuttering whenever driving into new areas. The animations were also bugging fairly consistently, showing my character running with the motorcycle glitching out in front of him. I also noticed that it clashes with Project Nevada, because anytime I had the .esp active, I couldn't sprint. Nonetheless, Gamebryo is at fault for most of this, not the mod creator; it's just such an outdated engine.

 

I'm still holding out hope that we'll get a mutated horse mount in the next Fallout game running on the Creation Engine (which, while still Gamebryo, has received so many needed updates). Honestly, that's what I'd rather have in New Vegas than a motorcycle, but it seems such a thing will never happen.

I can only hope if we get mutated mounts, mounted combat is included. I was pretty bummed about none of that in Skyrim. It seems like with VATS, it'd be pretty easy to handicap accuracy while on a mount. When I first got FO3, I nearly came in my pants when I first found motorcycle parts...and convinced myself I could use those to fix a defunct cycle at some point. I was v disappointed, but got over it.

Traveling would be so much more fun in the Wasteland with a small motorcycle or dirtbike. I'd def stop fast traveling all together.

Got the game (yeah only now tounge.gif) and I can say it was worth it, this game actually keeps me more glued to screen than skyrim. Good.

 

Also, I never use VATS. I like it more that way.

Picked NV back up and... wheres the good places to trade - i wanna buy and sell some guns. FO3 i struggled to find anyone who had enough caps to buy sh*t, in nv im struggleing to find traders at all!

 

Also, how the sweet and sour f*ck do you play caravan?! I've spent hours and just dont make sense. I think - ok i gotta get a higher score then opponent, and it dont let me place cards... WTF

 

any clear tutorials out ther?

You should try to sell your stuff at Gun Runners, at gift shop in Novac and in Hidden Valley if you became member of BoS.

Simply speaking you can't place higher card on lower if the card group has descending order (all have that order at the beginning, but you can use Queen to change it) and you can't place one symbol (spades for example) if the card group have at least two cards with different symbol (hearts for example). I may be wrong about card numbers, but the rule works like that.

No, you can't, you're a retainer, you can never join any of the major factions as a full member. You only act as a mercenary/freelancer and get rep with them and with a few, IE the BoS an honorary membership. As far as I remember, at least.

Well sh*t. After a few hundred hours I've finally gotten my first game-breaking bug.

I'm in Honest Hearts' Zion, and just single handedly killed four Yao-guai at the same time (on Very Hard, Hardcore) with nothing but spiked knuckles. Then I was just going to do some quest to disable some traps for the tribal dudes when I got jumped by four White-Legs tribals packing some serious hardware. I take a couple down with my Yao-guai paw glove but then take a .50 MG in the face and die horribly.

The game then proceeds to load my last quicksave. After waiting for 5 minutes for the save to actually f*cking load, I ctrl-alt-delete and see that the game had stopped responding (like, 4.9 minutes ago). Thing is, it does exactly the same thing for a good amount of saves (crashes after I select the save to load) for no f*cking reason and the closest save that actually works is 5 hours ago. 5 hours may not seem a lot but f*ck, I'd done a lot since and who knows if this bug will happen again.

 

Granted, I have a fair few mods installed and custom configuration files, but earlier saves with exactly the same mod load out and configs load perfectly. I've lost all will to play this game ever again which sucks since I won't be able to play OWB or LR, both of which I payed full price for. f*ck. This. sh*t.

I've tried that (and several other methods) and nothing works. I've even tried defaulting config settings and disabling some mods.

 

It just doesn't make sense that saves that loaded minutes earlier just refuse to work now. Also infuriating since I was just getting back into New Vegas.

EDIT: I stumbled across a gun trader a the 188 trading post who had 8000 caps and a sh*tload of ammo. My inventory was almost empty (keeping what I needed) and took most of her ammo and half her caps.

 

I'm finding combat really hard though. Shotguns at close range against rasacorpians have no effect, the only gun that has half effect is anti material rifle (though did rack up one one hit kills with sniper rifle against deathclaws) and as said ammo is perpetually low

I can only seem to find and buy 10 mm or .44 ammo

Does .44 work in the .357 revolver?

 

Time to do some collecting of weapons now. Maybe I'll loot the BoS safe house...

Can't identify it off the top of my head, but one question: will it actually function as a bolt-action rifle? I have been trying for the longest time to find a bolt-action rifle for New Vegas that isn't the Hunting Rifle or Anti-Material Rifle, but every single mod I have found functions like a semi-automatic rifle, which annoys the hell out of me.

 

Although, honestly, I just wish the script that makes adding modifications to unique weapons would be updated to be GRA compatible. I'd love to have a Hunting Rifle scope on my Paciencia.

That's a shot from reload animation in Nifskope, but the action on the bolt should work exactly the same way as they're exactly the same as those for the hunting rifle. Except the bolt doesn't clip through the scope like it does in the hunting rifle.

Get Weapon Mod Expansions. All the GRA weapons are covered with the full three mods in that.

 

That said, Paciencia can't be fitted with a scope. I could whack out a version of it where it could if you want?

Unfortunately, as much of it is built from the parts of other people's hard graft and at least one of these individuals no longer posts so I can't request permission for the use of his assets in a mod, I won't be.

Edit: seems to be bugged. The scope is functional (as in, if I aim with it equipped, it will show the typical scope crosshair and I can zoom in/out thanks to Project Nevada) but it isn't showing up on the viewmodel nor the worldmodel. Example A and example B. No comment on the long barrel or extended magazine.

 

(ignore how blurry my character is in the first screenshot, I was also playing around with ENB settings)

That's odd. It shows up fine on the world model for me, but not the first person model. I'll do some quick tweaks to the esp as it doesn't appear to be the model itself.

And it's fixed. Turns out I forgot to remove a reference to the base model which basically made it force unmodified first person models for everything. There's a new version hosted up here, and its definitely working in-game

That'll teach me to actually test things in-game in future. The number of times I've made things then had to re-make them entirely because they just don't work for a reason I fail to understand.
