I would try Jack at Red Rock Canyon.

Contreras at Camp McCarren sells them, as does the bartender at Gomorrah. Plus the various wasteland doctors.

Cheers for the help guys. icon14.gif

I wish I had read this & stocked up on more chems before heading down the Lonesome Road. I can't wait to get that badass Scorched Seirra Power Armour with the bear's head mounted on the shoulder.

Never mind, I still have Old World Blues & Dead Money to do. (I did Honest Hearts first)

I love New Vegas! It is an RPG on-par with DA:O or Morrowind.

I was considering buying a DLC for NV, but I wasn't sure which one to get. Any suggestions?

Old World Blues if you're only going for one, maybe get Honest Hearts too. I'd recommend Gun Runners Arsenal alongside either of those to get some more weapons too, some of them really pack a punch.

OWB is funny, but I find much of the combat and tasks in it rather bland*. My personal favourite is probably Honest Hearts, though Lonesome Road runs that quite close.

GRA was only a quid on Steam recently, so always worth a bash.

*An expansion on this- for some reason, Obsidian decided that everything- and I mean everything- in OWB was going to be a bullet sponge. All the NPC enemies have absurdly high levels of heath and within about an hour you start avoiding combat with things like Lobotomites for the pure purpose that you're running low on ammo. I nerfed them all down about 20% on my copy using the GECK (it's absurd that a basic common or garden Lobotomite could have almost as many hit points at Caesar, and about 30% more than many names characters).

i was disappointed with honest hearts. Didn't really enjoy it tbh. Lonesome road is next on the to do list - i'd gone back to FO3 to finish broken steel first now im gonna carry on with NV

Same here. I've played all of the DLCs but Dead Money and I have to say, HH was by far the worst of them. The only thing I enjoyed was The Burned Man and the new awesome weapons. The environment started to bore me fast, annoying characters and even worse quests made this DLC the worst to me. Especially that annoying female companion.

Plus, it was incredibly short compared to the other DLCs.

Very disappointing to me.

Was fine with it being short.

That female companion? I did t bother with her. My fella -named Mokrie! - is a tough nut... Did it solo.

What awesome weapons btw?

I gotta agree here. Burned Man was blend, quests weren't better (go there, fetch this, go somewhere else, fetch that), but weapons were nice (Light shining in the darkness) armor was cool (Desert Ranger Armor) and Survivalist's Story was the best thing in that add-on.

Been getting back into New Vegas lately. Gave Dog City Denver a try but I found it to be extremely disappointing. Looking for some different, lesser known quest mods now, if anyone has any recommendations. Also learned that the command to toggle free camera and also freeze time works in New Vegas (I thought it was only possible to toggle the free camera with the game still running in real time), so I'll probably be taking a lot of screenshots in the near future. Here's two I took before hopping on a boat back to the Mojave Wasteland:

Is that the Casull revolver from Classic Fallout Weapons I spy?

I assume you've got New Vegas Bounties 1 and 2, Afterschool Special and Goodsprings Filler? They're the only quest mods I've actually got.

Nope, Colt Anaconda from Shrapnel. You can complain about it disrupting lore all you want, but I just can't see myself playing without it. Besides, I don't see how it contradicts the lore any more than the Service Rifle, Assault Carbine and Marksman Carbine do, and they're vanilla weapons. That's just me, though. Anyway, I've been using it with hollow point rounds lately, which - with the standard damage it does - adds up to a whopping 150DAM at close range. Three to four shots turn Deathclaws into so much red paste.

As for the quests I've already completed, I do indeed have Bounties I & II and Afterschool Special, as well as War Never Changes, both of the Area 51 quests, and DEIMOS. I'm doing Tales From the Burning Sands Ch. 1 right now. As long as we're talking about mods, though, does anyone have a recommended configuration for Enhanced Shaders? I don't honestly see any difference in visuals with it activated.

Also, Nuka Break episode six is up, for anyone who hasn't already seen it:

I use it with the light SunStare pack, NMC's texture pack, UHQ post-processing and Nevada Skies (vanilla version). I'm not sure exactly how much difference it makes, but the bloom and depth of field are noticeably different from standard. I've not messed with it any more than that though.

I've already got textures covered with Poco Bueno, but I'll check out UHQ post-processing and SunStare. I was hoping URWLfied Nevada Skies would be available so I could try it rather than the vanilla version, but if you try to download it from the Nexus, it gives you an error - both for the manual download and FOMM download. Very strange.

Anyway, found a new set of armor I'm fond of, as well as a mod for idle animations, and took a few screenshots while testing them out. I was particularly fond of the last screenshot (so much so that I made it my desktop background); if you guys aren't interested in seeing me whore out my Courier, just say so and I'll either try to diversify my screenshots or just stop posting them altogether.

I don't think anyone will complain about more pictures. What armour is that? I really rather like it.

It's from this pack. It only includes two sets of armor, so while I can't remember which of the two it is, it's not at all hard to find. The only problem is that since the lower half is taken from the NCR Ranger mesh, the texture on the back of the pants is pretty f*cked (which is visible in the first screenshot on the mod's page). Still, it's nice, but since taking that screencap I've already found an alternative I greatly prefer:

If you want that one, it's here. Be warned, though, some of the armor requires Robert's Male Body textures. Honestly, though, if you're using the ones that don't show the arms (like the one I'm wearing), they work fine with vanilla bodies. It does require Diversified Mojave, however; I tried without it and it just leads to a CTD before the game even loads.

Great, I'll grab that one and make a new file in the GECK so I don't need to get Diversified Mojave too.

Few more screenshots I took after that post, the last of which was taken near the end of Tales From the Burning Sands. If anyone's looking for a good quest, it is exemplary; it's more focused on puzzles, so don't expect any combat (...at all), but the story hit me pretty hard.

That's a PC mod right?

Shame such mods don't expand to consoles. that outfit looks damned cool

Talking of outfits:where can one find the outfit displayed onthe NV case? What's it called and where/what quest is it in?

It is indeed a modification. As for the armor on the box art, that would be the NCR Ranger Combat Armor. It's relatively difficult to acquire; if I remember correctly, the only legitimate way to do so is to kill an NCR Ranger that is wearing it.

There's a full set in the NCR Safehouse, the key to which is earned by working up your rep with the NCR. Or you could kill a Ranger if you're not supporting the NCR, but that rarely ends well.

Maybe in Fallout 4 we'll get a working motorbike?*

*Provided it's for next gen consoles/PC only.

Does anyone care to speculate where abouts Fallout 4 might be set?

Man, seeing all these screenshots makes me want to jump back into the wasteland. Pat, which mod are those sandstorm shots using? I've got Nevada Skies for storms and stuff, but I don't recall that blurry effect. What are some other good mods to run? I've only got that, Satchels, FOOK, AG Sup. Uniques, and Underground Hideout (which is really f*cking cool).

Los Angeles me thinks

Or new York

I've often yearned for a vehicle to traverse the wastelands in. I wished for horses tbh

Also with all the cars around, I would loved to be able to harvest the fuel cells - and either sell them or use them as ammo for fatman/covert to energy cells/mf cells.

More important question is when the Fallout 4 will be set. If it will be set after NV then I believe we may get Idaho, Montana, Wyoming where Khans traveled after Second Battle of Hoover Dam or NYC as Mokrie Stated. If it will take place before NV or even III we can see New Mexico and Texas for example. As Cassidy was always saying: "I wonder if Texas survived the war"

We can cross out LA from the list, because it was already shown as Boneyard and I believe they would want to show us something new. I don't mind seeing core region in 3D, though.

And I don't believe harvesting power cells from vehicle would be possible, because it looks like cars in Washington and Mojave were powered from Fusion Reactors (specific cap on hoods, mushroom cloud in case of explosion).

With the amount of mods out I still haven't finished the game once, yet I got over a dozen characters.

Keep on downloading new mods which bug eachother out and then finding a way to get them all to work, love that. I'm really into the Rodeo Clown mod, been using it for quite a while now, crazy clowns go well in the wastelands.

Also the motorcycle mod works pretty well for me, but you have to turn blur on else it's lagfest that causes your character to walk constantly behind the back. I prefer the jetpack mod though, even though it looks less bad-ass. I've used the other mounts aswell, the Molerat and the Brahmin, but meh no third-person view.

I think Bethesda specifically stated that they always want to move the timeline forward in the series.
