And some custom self-made bits. Any advice on what else I should add?

Mad Science is a great mod.

You should get RobCo Certified with it, then you can build and repair your own robots, it's awesome.

Here are some suggestions:

- Playable Ghoul (there's only one on Nexus which is imo the best)

- Tailor Maid NV, is a must have in my opinion for creating unique characters.

- High Desert Tactical Gear Shop

- Spetznaz Armor

- Pipe Rifle and other junk weapons (the best thrash weapons in my opinion)

- Homemade Grenades

- Wasteland Pack (it's from modgames.net, the Russian nexus, it contains 8 melee junk weapons, don't trust it? Then don't download it tounge.gif)

- Bingles melee complete

I've got a custom mesh/texture edited version of the Spesnatz armour that I've modified to fit better with some of the vanilla and other suits, as they tend to clip into the knee pads a little. Tailor Maid appears to be a slightly rubbish version of Satchels- it's got more stuff in it, but there's no SCAV-based crafting and all the items are just in boxes outside Dr. Mitchels- or certainly were when I last used it.

Ghoul playability is something coming in a later version of FOOK, and I don't want to run the risks of conflicts in the player levelled lists between two different mods (FOOK already changes them)

It's more the other way arouind in my opinion, Satchels is a worse version of Tailor Maid, then again I"m one of the people who always spawns the mods I download in my inventory.

I don't see the problem in putting everything near each other in a box for example, especially if it's just for the looks. I don't download a mod to hopefully stumble upon the content eventually some day. Sometimes I forget about having a mod even tounge.gif

It all has to do with what kind of character you are planning to play though. I always download mods to enhance the uniqueness of my characters.

The issue I always had with Tailor Maid was that it didn't integrate these parts into the game properly. The newest versions enable each individual part to have its own DR, Dam Threshold and enchantments, so having them all loaded into a box in Goodsprings just seems like a cheat to me. Of course, you could modify them to work with the existing SCAV system (that from Satchels which enables you to disassemble clothing into raw components and construct more items from it) but the amount of time it would take to produce such a mod exceeds my possible concentration span.

There's less content in satchels, but it doesn't impede on the flow or difficulty curve of the game. I'd rather have less content but better integrated than a whole wealth of stuff that's just left there, if you know what I mean.

Am I the only person that hasn't been able to get the portable bedrolls to work? It tells me I'll start sleeping as soon as I close the Pip-Boy, but nothing ever happens. Kind of annoying, since the damn things weigh fifteen pounds a piece and are, as of yet, absolutely useless.

Didn't have any issue with them. As soon as I closed my Pip Boy the cue came up asking me how many hours I wished to sleep like it would normally with any bed.

So I just picked through this last bit of DLC quite thoroughly trying to get one last decent breath out of this game before putting it down for good. There were some good points and some bad points.

LR Pros

  • Some really cool gear:

I wrecked shop on those Tunnelers with the H&H Nail Guns.

As advised, the Flare Gun was really useful for navigating the sh*t storm that is The Couriers Mile, helped me manage some space between myself and a swarm of irradiated deathclaws while I found a proper perch to snipe them from.

For people with maxed melee, Blood Nap is quite possibly the best knife in the game. I single handedly sliced and diced my way through the entire last rush of marked men with it and through all the enemies in the two irradiated areas if you chose the ending that opened them.

The dusters look pretty damn cool, and show off the guns in a gay pirate sort of way.

The Elite Riot Gear however simply looks more bad ass than any armor in the game. The helmet also nicely stacks with your 1st Recon Beret to give you a +3 to PER.

I don't typically use launchers but The Red Glare has a really cool reloading animation and it's cheesy patriot style paint job made it a lot of fun to use.

The Long 15. It was cool to finally be right about this area being an enterable part of the map, which I'd speculated on since the moment I first saw it. The decision you have to make to enter it is kind of crappy though. You will however get two unique pieces of armor for opting to nuke this spot and the Legion encampment as well.

The Level 50 karma reset perks are very cool and worth taking.

Gaining an additional stat at the end to sink into END and then gain another stat at the Medical Clinic was nice.

LR Cons

There wasn't much to it. I found all 10 Nostalgia notes, detonated all 30 Nukes, got all 5 ED-E upgrades, all 20 Ralphie Posters and all 6 Ulysses recordings and for what? It didn't make a lick of difference in the end game or any of the options available. This downloaded faster than any of the previous DLC and I'm starting to see why.

Fake Depth. The introduction of Courier 6 is supposed to be this major revelation about your own character and "the why" of your whole existence. The whole thing just runs out of yarn early on, with Ulysses often repeating himself in some sort of off-handed annoying 3rd person. All it really boils down to is you were a mailman that delivered a remote detonator to some sort of settlement that you don't recall living at and the entire place was destroyed, creating The Divide. You don't receive any great answers about why, you don't recall this event or why Ulysses persists in acting like a mysterious turd all the way up until the end. His explanation for anything he's done by the final mission seems like half-hearted crap.

He'd just as well join you as he would fight you to the death depending on what you say and does nothing to stop or influence your decision either way on the missile launch. For a final "boss" type character in a fairly well written game he's simply wishy-washy and not very well fleshed out.

Voracious Reader perk! Where the f*ck have you been all my life?! Getting what would have been a fully useful and game changing perk at the absolute tail end of the game seriously chaps my hide. angry.gif

At this point I'm kind of wondering what the point is to introducing Gun Runners DLC with no new areas to try them out in other than a 2nd play through perhaps?

Anyone else kind of down there won't be any more Fallout after tomorrow for at least a year or so. There are loads of new games coming out soon, but still.

What exactly does Satchels include? You've piqued my interest.

About 50 or so craftable items of clothing, ranging from ammo pouches and belts through to whole armoured suits. You craft 'em at the workbench (or buy a select few in stores), they all serve purposes (pouches increase carrying capacity, a knife belt gives a bonus to melee weapons, a flak vest boost damage threshold), and they're all made by disassembling existing armour suits into their basic components using a tool called SCAV. It doesn't work with faction armour (or at least never has properly with me), but something like combat armor will give you a variable number of aramid fabric strips and ceramic armour plates (dependent on repair skill) which could then be used to construct, say, a combat or flak vest. All the added bits use unused (or rarely used) apparel slots, which means they can be worn in layers on top of regular clothing and suits (though of course some tend to clip).

It's as awesome as it sounds. Really helps you create a unique character.

Yeaaaaaa... confused.gif

But I am looking forward to seeing a Fallout done in the Skyrim engine. inlove.gif

I haven't heard even the faintest hint about an announcemnet for the next one though, anyone else?

The Fallout MMORPG is rumoured to be out next year, but that's on the Gamebryo engine like FO3/NV. Fallout 4 was alluded to by Bethesda a couple of years back when they were first discussing Skyrim, but there's no definitive date for its release as it was in pre-production at that time. 2013 is my guess.

-EDIT-

FOOL isn't on Gamebryo, it's on a different engine that looks very similar

It's impressive what you can build using converted S.T.A.L.K.E.R models, bits of Bethesda/Obsidian models and torn up bits of anonymous Fallout 3 mods. Needs a f*ckload of texture work though, as it's patchy as hell. Here's one I made earlier- a varmint rifle, turned into something that resembles a proper varmint rifle.

Gun Runners' Arsenal and Courier's Stash are out.

The first one gives you 27 weapons (some of them are just made to work with mods), some of them are unique (Lil' Devil - unique 12.7 mm pistol, Medicine Stick - unique Brush Gun), rest are stock versions of unique weapons (5.56 mm pistol - stock version of That Gun, Battle Rifle - stock version of This Machine) and 40 new mods. New challenges and achievements are included. Price - 320 MSP or 3.99$

Second add-on gives you all items that were available in 4 preorder packs. 160 MSP or 1.99$

Wow these new weapons are expensive.

I spent around 70000 caps to buy Lil' Devil, Medicine Stick, Bozar and 25 mm Grenade APW. Fortunately I hauled a lot of stuff (Anti-Materiel Rifles, Brush Guns and a lot of armors) from The Divide.

Anyone know if the DLC that just came out (the preorder bonuses one) do you get all the items given to you at once or do you only get to choose out of one when you start, as that is what I read on the wiki.

I want it all at once otherwise it is pointless.

I didn't see it listed on Marketplace today, I only saw the Gun Runners option. Maybe they added it in later in the day I'll have to check.

My initial DLC bonus upon buying NV was the Vault 13 Canteen and the Weathered Pistol it'd be cool to get the other bits and bobs.

Completed the DLC today, and I don't know where the complaints are coming from. I was expecting a little more dialogue at the end (I think some of your conversations with Ulysses through ED-E actually lasted longer than the ending conversation), but all in all, I was content with it. I talked Ulysses into helping me, and I redirected the rockets to the Legion camps. I was pleasantly surprised when I went back to the Divide and Ulysses was actually sitting there, looking over the Divide as he had promised.

As for the battle itself, it honestly wasn't that bad. I had a harder time taking this f*cker down while on my way to Ulysses. Protip: he's in the cave behind the lake where two Deathclaws spawn after Ulysses commandeers ED-E, so if you aren't prepared to fight him, don't go in there. Although, I was pretty tickled by the name of the gauntlet you can craft with his claw. That was exactly what was going through my head when traversing the highway overpass segment of the Divide.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I'd say Old World Blues is still the best DLC, but Lonesome Road earned a very close second.

Yeah I feel the same way. Old World Blues was better, Lonesome Road is better than the other two. Shame they did not get their act together until the third DLC.

I found Lonesome Road to be extremely linear, when it came to the quests. Every new area you went into, you got a complete quest and another quest just starting up. Also, I found the weapons to be lacking. I did not use any of them more than twice. I always seemed to switch back to the weapons I brought with me. To me it seems they left some of the weapons out, so they could add them in the Gunrunner's pack.

I loved the first part of the DLC, the part that, well, f*cking worked. Once I got outside, I couldn't even start combat without the game lagging out and freezing my PS3. I got sick of resetting and rebooting, and shelved New Vegas until a patch is released...any Sony brothers having the same problems?

God damn, I have a newfound respect for shotguns. I picked up an 870 Magnum from Gun Runners and bought some slugs, then Cass and I hit the Silver Rush. I've heard horror stories about that battle, but I went in there and they were all dead in about five minutes. Damn I love this shotgun.

I'm puzzled about one thing, though; can companions use modded weapons? I tried giving Cass a Benelli M3, but she won't equip it. She just keeps using her Caravan Shotgun and complaining about how close it is to breaking.

Really? epic, as I was worried I wouldnt get them all if I started up a new game again, which I may do soon seeing as I am now level 50 and done every dlc and everything in the game.

Having all those items at the start will defo help.

Also I agree about the DLC's, Old World Blues owned, you finaly got a decent safehouse with a trader in it and all you could possibly need, the map was open and free roamable and not linear, the style was great and so was the loot. I just wish there were more frequent enemies after it was all done. Same goes for Lonesome road. I really get bored in this game, and I would love people to shoot again.

I made friends with too many people and I havent had a hitsquad on me EVER.

Old World Blues is still very much my fav DLC and I did think about possibly one more playthrough for the simple fact I could have really arranged and chose my perks and special stats way better knowing what I know now and having all the DLC perks available early on would have really allowed for me to map things out better. I somehow missed the snowglobe in Sierra Madre as well which pisses me right the f*ck off. I still think the Wild Card ending is the best choice at the end of the day, so I can't see changing that bit. I also really wish the DLC had some effect on the closing narrative in the final game but I'm fairly sure it doesn't.

Not sure if anyone's aware, but apparently the creator of Project Reality has said that he plans to include voice overs for the Courier in his next update. It would obviously only extend to vanilla quests (maybe a few of the really popular modded quests? Bit of a crapshoot really), but I'm still very interested in this. Everyone I've talked to has said Nevada Skies is better, but if he goes through with his plan, I'll have to try it out.

Would be nice if he would just release it as a separate mod, though.

If the creator does go through with it, than that means he would need to voice actors, since I really doubt someone would want their female courier sounding like a man.
