Fallout: New Vegas

To be fair, they've never nailed down when the divergence of the Fallout timeline and reality occurs. Even the wiki is inconsistent, ranging from "before 1918" on the Divergence page to the 60s on the Timeline page. Even if those guns are a lot more recent than that.

I know way too much about this game.

And this is why I prefer Energy Weapons, no discussions over what's an abomination of nature and what's not

But seriously, SPAS 12? I don't even see it fitting in the game D:

It's really no more powerful than the Riot Shotgun, it just pleases the gunophile in me. The Anaconda, however, is quite the beast at 52 DAM.

Fallout 2 had a lovely selection of 1970s and 1980s weapons, as did Tactics- though that isn't considered cannon- things like the LSW, P90-based sub-machine gun, Ruger AC556, Desert Eagle, G11 and Pancor Jackhammer. The SPAS-12 was first produced in the late 1970s, so doesn't seem to go against the grain of in-game reality to me.

Picked up NV tonight for $20 and started playing it.

I'm enjoying it so far; I've had some friends say it's better than Fallout 3 and others say it's not as good as Fallout 3. I'll leave my opinion on that matter until I actually get through the game.

I haven't gotten that far yet; I just made it to The Strip (which took enough work to get into). I figured for the hell of it, I'd start the game on hardcore mode (granted, I put the difficulty down to very easy). Once I finish the storyline, I'll be switching off hardcore mode and ramping the difficulty back to normal.

Once you finish the storyline, You'll be switching off the game, because you can't play after the ending.

As far as I know, hardcore mode just enables sleep, h20, food and non-instant healing.

I wouldn't put combat to very easy for that.

It's a fun game, you should enjoy it, Scott.

I'd say with the addition of the DLC, a slightly denser population, a few shiny buildings and some cool new perks it's a step up from Fallout 3.

(Without that, it feels about the same. confused.gif)

You got into the Strip on your fist night? I must be even more easily distracted than I thought, I didn't get to the Strip on my first playthrough until I was about level 24.

E: Oh yeah, and I recently finished OWB, I was quite disappointed that the talking toaster made no reference to the one in Red Dwarf sad.gif .

U could get into the strip easily if u kill an NCR and take their clothes, and use the monorail surely?

When's the LR out?

I managed to unlock the Bon voyeur (I know it's not caked that, t'was a jone) suite in the ultra lux, thanks for the idea about the implant guys, it worked wonders! Now to get the rest !!

Monday?

I thought it was dropping Tues for some reason.

OT- I literally avoided the Strip and New Vegas on purpose until after I'd mapped out and explored most of the entire outside map. I sort of looked at it as a "reward" of sorts and didn't want to spoil it early on.

Naa, if you do that the NCR guards see through your disguise and nail you. Monorail won't activate until your liked by the NCR and have completed the "I Put A Spell On You" quest first.

Lonesome Road is set to be released for 20th. Two more days and is out. I can't believe I'm finally see the last DLC of New Vegas. I'm very interesting in the new perks, the +5 level cap and in case they will bring skill books into this DLC as well. I started a new game and I need to know what to choose, to make a perfect character in skills and perks.

Maybe it's for your own good haha. Playing the game without fast travel makes it more challenging.

But it also makes it a lot more tedious. Is it your save game or actual game that's causing the problem? Have you tried a different save?

I've had this issue too. It's mod related as far as I can tell (or at least it has been for me) but I've never identified what it is exactly that causes it. For me, I think it's a combination of FOOK and Classic Fallout Weapons but never been able to trace exactly what causes it. Are you playing pc with mods, or on console or PC without? If its console, I reckon your save has corrupted, if PC without mods the same may be true- have a look around as there are some very good alternative save-game systems that work significantly better that the original quicksave system. Could also be quest related, some are mildly game-breaking.

I'm slowly teaching myself Blender and (less slowly) NIFscope. Expect to see some screenshots of my (probably hideously hashed together) creations soon!

From what I read, enemies have more health on Hardcore. It may be true or it may not be; either way, I'm just trying to run through the game as fast as possible on hardcore mode. I have a save file from after I just entered The Strip, so once I finish the game on hardcore, I'll go back to that save file and turn off hardcore and ramp up the difficulty and just play the game from that point, but doing sidequests and all that.

@Robinski: I did tasks for The King, so he managed to get me a fake passport.

To have tougher enemies turn the gameplay to Very Hard. Hardcore doesn't change the aspect of the NPC health, SPECIAL, STATS or skills.

Ah

Well first time I tried It was after IPADOU, so that may explain it! The wouldn't let mr through but if I wore NCR clobber no prob.

The fastest way to get into the Strip without having 2k caps is attacking a securitybot and quickly run to the strip and talk to Victor. Your Strip rep will be back to normal and the robots won't be hostile.

Actually the fastest way into the strip, is too wear an NCR uniform, use the monorail at McCarran, talk to house, but tell him, you'll speak to him later, then you can come and go as you please at no cost, it can be done at lvl 1 smile.gif

The NCR troopers will see through your disguise and open fire.

No they don't, ive done it on 3 different playthrough's now, medium to very hard, that has never happened !!, aslong as your Rep is set to neutral you can wear their faction armor

It's only NCR Rangers who can see through disguises I think, similar to how only Caesar's Praetorian guard are the only one's who can at the fort. I can vouch for this as on my current playthrough I've recentl been classed as a terrorist by the NCR, but still managed to complete Three Card Bounty (the quest in MacArran Airport) by wearing some bog standard NCR trooper armour.

Yeah, that's what I said tounge.gif

I'm starting to uninstall mods now to make more room for future mods. Such a pain.

Also crashes every 10 seconds at the moment, pissing me off.

How many do you have? I was considering using nVamp, but it looks like most of the mods on that are now out of date. At some point I'm going to delete and reinstall my copy of NV, set everything back up properly (inc. custom mods) and see if that fixes the intermittent crashing issues.
