Phnx
Is it possible through scripthook mods like lua, asi etc.? I have seen at least three mods that alter the game's camera. Dashbord camera view just changes values in the "vehoff.csv", but it doesn't change the actual game-camera, only one of its modes. Firstperson Driver actually changes the game's camera through an asi script. VehicleSelector has its own camera (I guess) in the vehicle selection menu. So I'm just asking. I can't script myself. Is it possible to make a camhack for GTA IV that can change the position of the thirdperson camera on foot and in a vehicle. All three axes. x, y, z position. I have already asked countless times in the threads to those mods, but I didn't get anything out of it. I have waited for months now, if someone would make something like that. But no one did. I can't imagine that everyone is happy, especially with the offset vehicle-camera. How could R* do this anyways? Create a vehicle-camera that is not only offset as if it is just a cam quickly created for an alpha version just to showcase the game's driving, but is also not turning fast enough with the vehicle itself, so it's hard to look around corners?! The vehicle-camera looks "broken" IMO! So, someone, please, help with this! So, this thread has a hundred and fourteen views, but still no one can help. Seems to be enough interest on people who can't make the mod, but the ones who can, don't want to?! Sad! Edited April 20, 2009 by Phnx
Çãmþ裣
that is probably right... though i dont have any issues with the camera really. It moves pretty slow around corners, but i dont rely on that correction to turn around corners (mouse ftw). I have noticed the camera looks a little to the left after i have used the first person camera mode (dash view), but can correct after exiting and entering the car again

FirstPersonDriver doesn't help me a thing. But thanks for the tip anyways!
Phnx
Could PLEASE someone who knows about scripting give me some starting help and give me the functions or at least a link to a list of functions, so I can mod the game's cam. I know I have to learn C++ or another scripting language to write a working script, but I don't even know where to get a list of all the functions! skiddmark
I know there must be some who just love R*'s camview system. I'm not one. It has always been a HUGE problem enjoying the game. You make a turn and you're looking at the side of the car (3d person, about the only one I use). You have no idea if you're in the wrong lane or on the sidewalk. Stupid, really stupid. Sometimes when I have the opportunity I swing the mouse to view toward the direction of turn just as I get to an intersection. It's wonderful! You end up actually looking down the road you just turned onto! Very intuitive methodology. The default height behind the car is too low. I use twist on my joystick constantly to raise the view so I can see what's in front of the dang car! The real problem is that R* allows no user preference to adjust for personal taste. Here's what I would like: 1) At least, limit the distance the cam can swing from behind the car. It's good for it to swing some so you can enjoy seeing more of your car than just the *ss. Or swing the camera the "intuitive" direction when turning so you can actually see ahead in the turn (right turn, swing left). This is what your eyes do when you drive - let's do a right turn. From the drivers seat in the turn your eyes are looking accros the right front fender. Continue that line of sight rearward and it's accros the left rear quarter panel where the camera should be. THAT'S INTUITIVE. Probably can't be done but adjusting what we have been given to within reasonable bounds would be a big help. 2) Raise the default height. PLEASE!! I hope and pray someone more talented than myself can make this possible for all of us who love this game.

skiddmark
While we're waiting for someone to take up our cause we can have a follow cam view for driving, described in this post: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=419755 can't look around much or shoot very well, it bounces and wobbles but it's behind, above and with great forward view and absolutely follow-locked. A dream come true until a real follow cam is available. Edited August 24, 2009 by skiddmark
ceedj
Dont bump old topics !!!! Easy there sport, it's not like this is a multiple months old topic. On topic: count me in as one of the ones who absolutely hates the IV camera in vehicle. And while I have some good scripting knowledge AND can do C++ stuff, I am pretty much useless when it comes to memory addy's and the like. So I'm all for keeping this topic breathing in the hopes that someone with the knowledge will come along and help us out. I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. I think this is f*cking stupid. - Sweets
Phnx
I'm really sorry to bump this again, but I'm not giving up on this! I know there are people who can do it. I can certainly not. That is why I am asking this again and again. Please someone who has the skill to do this: I am not the only one who would like a camhack of sorts. I am begging you, please help us out!
