another question - what is the CrimeVariance=23 thing? what does that mean?

 

feedback \ suggestions -

 

it happens way to often that i want to flip to the next mission (when i am conversating with a mission giver) but accidently place a bomb, and instead of picking the mission i want i need to escape a 4 stars chase. the bomb can be placed even when not crouched or something. its a problem, id say...

 

 

the terrorist hunt thing - my impressions of it is that the rocket launcher guys are tremendously dangerous (1 shot kills if u dont move and they usually dont miss) and everyone else are pi$$ easy. it kinda feels like all i was doing was jogging around to avoid the missiles and killing some easy guys with ARs and snipers and just hoping to see where the Rockets were coming from so i can kill the RL guy... and i was doing this for ever. its nearly impossible to end this mission (how many kills do i need? 700??) . i think that the Rocket launcher guys should be a LOT more rare so there is a better pace for this mission type. this way even if accuracy is all the way up to 250 this mission type is still fun and possible.

 

what do u think, man?

 

also i have a great idea .... well, I think its a great idea, dont know bout u but here goes -

you made the change where the police will give up after 30 seconds (awesome adddition. loving it! it makes it possible in almost a believable way to escape the cops on foot. awesome) but its weird (i think) that the 6 cops that just missed me when the stars vanished suddenly dont care for me when i come out with a RL on my shoulder behind that dumpster i was hiding behind although they know they are looking for an armed man that was last seen RIGHT effing THERE smile.gif

 

here's the idea -

after 30 seconds of hiding the stars dont drop to 0. they drop to 1.

this way the circle is much much smaller and u might be able to slip out of it unnoticed but the cops near you are still on alert cuz they are in your immediate area and expecting an armed man to come out. if it's possible to make the flashing circle just a lil bit smaller to make this easier than it might be even cooler.

of course if u lost a 5 stars chase by hiding and moved to 1 star than if u r seen again before u become unwanted u go back to 5. not to 1 or 2 stars.

 

or maybe, if making the wanted meter go to 1 instead of 0 is still too hard to escape on foot than another idea for that subject is that if u r seen with a weapon drawn out for about 30 seconds AFTER your wanted level was ZEROED than u r wanted again. so u need to hide your weapon for a few more seconds afterwards. i think it adds to the immersion.

 

what do u think, hippie? i bet reducing the wanted to 1 instead of 0 is really easy and it may or may not be fun. i dont know really. i tried to mimic this situation using a trainer (once the wantedd disappeared by your mod i raised it one star) and was kinda fun IMO.

 

 

p.s. - i played the missions on difficulty 250 and i gotta say - OH MY GOD! what a murder! smile.gif dayum!

i wish there was a way to set it that there wont be a bazillion enemies in each mission but less enemies who are more powerful. would be a more realistic challenge.

and the problem with dropping just one star each drop is the radius will be reset on niko as center... that makes no sense, no matter how u look at it.

 

CrimeVariance=23 means the chance to start a patrol crime mission (10->instant random patrol mission, 30->random crimes are rare while on patrol)

 

and i think you got the early version on gtagarage, get the latest version to fix the ducking check on the bomb yawn.gif.

oh, i see what u mean.

so u r saying that if u are at 6 stars, u take hiding beneath a bridge nowhere near the center of the flashing and after 30 secs the level will drop to 1 star than the circle will zero on the player's real location?

 

if that IS the case - than its better off the way it is.

 

i'd still recommand that for the next 30 seconds after the stars went to ZERO the player should hide his weapon. just a suggestion for immersion.

 

 

 

- tell me, hippie, is it possible to add to the INI a way to limit the maximum number of hostiles in the missions? i know every mission is different but maybe a way to set all mission to 100%, 75%, 50% or 25% of the hostiles amount can make it fun even at a higher difficulty and not just impossible to beat (unless exploited somehow).

its really cool how u made it that the enemies fire for longer bursts and also accurate and it makes each AI more challenging... only thing is that the mod was clearly not balanced with that in mind. that was why i suggested what i did.

the fact i can determin how many drugs i deliver or how many checkpoints i have in the package mission is really really awesome. this way i can tweak the mission to suit the way i think they are balanced. once i upped the difficulty to 250 i could tone these factors down and still got a really really fun mission.

i will check the new close protection mission gladly. havent encountered that option yet (i have version 93) .

 

PS - i didnt DL the mode from GTAgarage. i DLed the 0.93 version from the first page on THIS thread. still getting the bomb mishaps. i really think these contact AIs are starting to resent me for blowing them up so regularly tounge.gif

Great mod. I've tried the new version and it works well. The new mission too. Terrorists in the terrorist hunt mod use bombs as well it seems? Nice!

 

It's even more fun with Nerdook's slo-mo. I dodged a rocket during terrorist hunt (my favourite mission) with it once, very cool.

 

I'm going to bother you with another request tounge.gif

 

Would it be possible to have a separate UseGrenades and UseMolotovs option in the .ini? I find molotovs annoying, but I'd still like them to have grenades.

Thanks for the reply mate. Hope that you ll get time to make a weapons dealer mod eventually. A question (in order to be certain); I ve downloaded the patched version from here. Do I have to remove ContactMissions.asi from the GTA IV folder and put the ContactMissions5.asi or do I need to have both of them in the folder? sigh.gif Thanks

Hey Hippie !

 

i know im annoying... blush.gif but could you please do something with your bodyguard recruit mod???

because guards dont react to VIPMod's ennemies and others guard mods are not as efficient...

 

or if you do know a "usable" bodyguard mod... please tell me !

 

 

 

PS.: there are a few weeks i installed visual C++ and the scripthook SDK... i manage to get books about "C++ coding" BUT ITS F%£KING HARD to understand the philosophy as i ve never coded...

Do u have an advice? is there any other language i should try before coding in C++?

Is there any way to call a .sco directly from a simple script?

 

 

+ Does somone knows how to edit and reimport .sco file? (id like to modify the DwayneBackup.sco file) cause i like the way guards are coming.

I have only just discovered this mod and it works with the latest 1.0.04 patch and I am also running RealiZM IV 6.2 as well.

 

I just tried this mod with the GTA IV Bodyguard Mod by rappo and it makes it even more fun. I was doing the terrorist hunt, rockets were flying, I was in a car chase and my bodyguard was shooting while I drove. Explosions were going of and well it was a bit crazy.

 

I have to say a big thanks for creating this mod HippieCommunist, due to people like yourself, this game will live forever!

Could the "WARN" be causing the crashing from time to time for me?

Hey, i've been reading this thread and I have the same problem. I can play the missions and they are great, but from time to time the game freezes. It happened when a cop was trying to arrest me, right after I finished a job... I mean, randomly. I don't know if those warnings have something to do with that problem. I do have others mods installed, so I don't know if it's some kind of incompatibility with another mod... Also, any chances you make it with a menu? I read ppl asking the same before, maybe 1 more could make the difference sigh.gif

i know this mod but nothing is configurable...like the distance between nico and bodyguard

they cant drive

they cant aim @ helicopters

 

I m trying to make one but ive no background and no skill to code... its f*ckin hard.

 

but ive some ideas, how to make them appear, how to make them more use full, like configuring some key to give them simple order

-fight (dont follow nico, just fighting against any ennemies or cop)

-come (leave the fight to join nico's coordinates)

-giving guards an UID, allows us to make groups of bodyguard

-give them speciality like "only shoot @ helicopters" or "just try to drive over ennemies without shooting"

-some strategy (being carefull and defensive or being mad and going ahead)

-making guards usable in multiplayer (lan) by allows my gurds to fight against my friends guards

 

and soooo on !

 

 

Im looking for some exemples of source code to learn... if some have. it could be great.

It's not J, it's M to accept the mission and N to say NO and ask for another one.

And in a police car M to star a random vigilante mission.

Hey, HippieCommunist, as I've already told, your mod is the greatest! I thought about about the following recently: may be you can add pimping missions, a kind of ones in San Andreas? I believe that'll be fun!

And I also want to believe that someday your mod will become all-in-one. Just install it and nothing else is needed and wanted! Thank you again for your efforts!

Hello Hipster, lol Hey hows it going? I have an suggestion if it is possible? I would love to see this ContactMissions mod combined with your Prison break mod and your robbery mods that way no matter what part of the mod you are playing if you get busted by 5-0 you go to prison, you see? And if and when you update them for newest patch 5. also i loved the drug dealing part of contact missions the most, any way you could make a toggle on off for that one so we could Deal or No DEAL (sorry that game show popped into my head) when ever we wanted to? Plus it would be cool if we also had to go and pick up the drugs before we can start dealing them and who knows what may happen while we are on our way to picking them up. (winks) if you know what i mean? *smirks*

 

Any way, let me know what you'll think and can it be done as well...

 

And thanks for all the hard work you put into your mods to keep this great game fun and interesting.....

I think and dont quote me on this the 5 is for people with the latest patch 5 or 1.0.04 and the other are for those still using patch 4 or 1.0.4. I think so my suggestion to you would be put either or in that goes with what ever patch version you are using....

I just noticed that the directory within the extracted Contacts folder says patch 5 so I guess what you said is correct!

Hmm dunno why, but it's not working for me with 1.0.4.0, I've got everything in the right spots but when i play the game it doesn't error, theres nothing to press nothing... hmm

 

Could be my scripthook, 0.2.6.0 But if i use the latest 0.4.0 the game completely crashes doesn't load / work AT ALL So i "Need" to use 2.6.0... Gah

 

Edit: Ok I'm getting people with on the radar showing ? And them having a white icon on top of their head all over the map, So i stop near them beep my horn and they come too my front door, so it seems to be working just NONE of the controls work AT ALL, m,n,j, Nothing, so maybe you've changed the controls or i dont have the control file or something?

 

Edit: Got it, One of your downloads didn't have the control ini file included, But the main one on here does. I think it was the little link one at the end of your post that doesn't

Anyone one else notice that the "Police giving up.." feature doesn't work when your doing an activity with a friend or on a mission??

You rock mate! devil.gif Constant uptades! The new feature of the "friend" is very good adition! Haven't tried yet if it works inside the missions. Perhaps in a future update the prices could be setted from an ini file. One of the most favories mods became even better! Also the new version of the Traffic felony mod seems to be imroved.

PS: The "friend" feature combined with the robberies mod is cool!

PS2: After some playing I had twice a game crash while using the "friends" feature. Did anyone else had the same? I ll keep checking and report back.

please do make sure it is my mod thats crashing, ive spent hours making sure everything is in place...

i tested it for hours on end, with extreme conditions like heli's,boats,etc...

 

no crashes

fixed another crash in the patrol missions

 

-notice the difference while wearing the LSD uniform when buying enforcements (police troops will use shotguns aswell for CQB)

 

-dont forget that holding the horn while starting Patrol mode changes into lsd uniform.

 

-marker is green/orange/red indicates the friend's health

 

-the price of Heal All affected by amount of healing there is to be done (it still says 10,000$ as a top value to pay) - player 3000$+every member 1000$+vehicle repair 4000$

 

tell me what you think...

plz tell me if you can detect any crashes with some basic information (what missions/with\o guards/in car/heli/boat).
